We're basically taking pride in this, hell, even I'm doing some map work now! Nothing major, I'm just combing over the map looking for missing objects or floating props and correcting them, it's getting a bit OCD like now. tounge.gif

Then it will need the muzzle flash *imagine a evil laugh here*

I'd suggest that conversion to be put for download on GTAGarage.com. As reason I say many mods and conversions have downloads on external sites and if the site where is download mod is no longer available, you'll be not able to download VCS anymore.

 

Now I found a serious issue on current release Beta 0.2... VCS can't be played with any CLEO installed. cryani.gifIf I install CLEO 4 in games' folder and then I try to start game (even with no CLEO scripts installed), I will just get "gta_sa.exe has stopped working" message by Windows 7 and I won't be able to launch the game at all. Unfortunatelly seems GTA VCS PC Edition is totally incompatible with CLEO scripts because if I delete CLEO folder from VCS's directory, the game will start and loading properly again... Please fix that! I also have the total coversion GTA United 1.2.0.1 and it doesn't have that problem - I still can run and play GTA United 1.2.0.1 even if its folder have CLEO mods and scripts installed.

It is totally compatile with CLEO. You're most likely overwriting our ASI Loader, causing the game to corrupt.

I reinstalled VCS, but I can't find where I must put CLEO scripts? mercie_blink.gif I can't find the cleo folder...

Can you explain why you don't want to use any external plugins for this mod ? If it can make it better, I don't see the problem.

We like to think about this mod as of a proper game, which can't be a mod pack. Besides, more external plugins mean less compatibility with different EXEs. And that means more idiots people complaining about "A MISSING BIKE OMG MOD SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" tounge.gif

Ah ok, I understand your decision now.

Makes sense.

 

Guess I could just release a config as an add on for those with the right exe.

 

But O got one concern. If we are required to have the exe, what about the icon? Will the installer be able to change the icon to VCS so we don't have to do it manually? Like you said you want it to feel like an actual game and the icon is a little detail that will help.

The new icon is injected, so once launched it will have the vcs icon.

Anyway, it's a really good job done there. I don't know where we could get races in VCS. Was at Sunshine Autos? I never done any race in this game except the one from main story missions (When Funday Comes).

What he means is not to replace vorbis files, they are ASI loader and VCS PCE uses their own, which is REQUIRED to run VCS PCE. If you are using CLEO installer instead or RAR file, you will replace VCS PCE's vorbis files with CLEO's, causing the game to crash

 

The solution here is just to copy cleo.asi and CLEO folder from your SA folder to VCS folder. Then you will be able to run CLEO without crashing

Yeah, I tried this with putting CLEO folder and cleo.asi as I kept all original installation files, but when I try to start VCS, then I got a different error "Unable to locale component": "Gtand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories PC Edition has failed to start because one of the required components was not found" and VCS still don't run. Actually I can't understand what component is missing after I've only added CLEO folder and cleo.asi from my SA folder and all of required files noted by you aren't missing or replaced... suicidal.gif Actually I found if even only cleo.asi or CLEO folder (or both) are added in game's directory (even if all ViceCity Stories original files are not removed / replaced), VCS will crash or just shows the error message I've noted above. Only if I completely remove CLEO files, the game will load properly. Seems that game is not compatible with CLEO, otherwise why even if any of the original files required to run game are not missing or replaced, the game still not run? Seriously, nothing helps but completely removing CLEO from ViceCity Stories' PC Edition folder. sad.gif

Hmmm, now I remember. CLEO 4.1.1.30f was causing problems when VCS PC ASI Loader went standalone - now it's fixed though. But the game IS compatible with CLEO, I've actually put some extra effort to make my hacks compatible with it! tounge.gif

 

For BETA2, you either need to find an older CLEO 4.1.1.30, or use CLEO3. For BETA3, everything is gonna be fine (don't use 4.2a on it anyway though).

What's with Rhino turret? Never drove it in VCS, actually.

Maybe he is talking the way you enter it? In VCS it's like in VC (opening door)

Nope, if it has been dealt with behind the scene, then I'm glad cool.gif

 

@Claude: In VC/VCS you can only rotate the turret 360 degrees, whereas in SA you can raise/lower the canon as well. Entering animation difference also exists, though I think it could be handled easily

Whilst you guys wait for other things to be announced, here's a small insight, here's a quick comparison of the both original and our map (missing Street Lighting fx on this one) so you can see what's changed between 1984 and 1986:

Imho the SA turret aiming system should be used on the VCS PC tank. As for the door entering problem, personally i'm not too fussed either way: if the anims are changed to match VCS' model or if the VCS model is edited to match SA's anim.

Nope, that's usually done once a version is released where we then look at what didn't work and also set targets we want to do for the next build. Then again I'm not even sure how many of us will stick around for BETA4. tounge.gif

I'm sure the first thing after BETA3 will be convert the east island. But it's too early to think about roadmap, wait carefully to 6th June!
