Exxon
Hey guys, Allright, got this hugely annoying problem with an old version of Windows that I can't seem to get rid of. I've got three partitions on my HDD: C, D, and E; where C acted as bin for everything, D for Windows, and E is "Recovery" of about 14gb (no idea what that is). Few weeks ago, I reinstalled my Windows 7 again (on C this time around) to have a fresh install and get rid of all the sh*t on my HDD. I didn't dare to format partition D as well, as most of the hardware drivers were on there and I don't know where to get it from through the internet. This ended up in two Windows 7 installs being present, and I've just seemingly deleted the old one through msconfig, because I really need the space to try to upgrade to Windows 10 (really? Yes, really). Somehow, I just can't delete the Windows folder of the old install, whatever the f*ck I do. Delete, Disk Cleanup (doesn't show up as an old install), there's no Windows.old, I can give myself whatever rights and it still won't let me. There's also this folder with some sort of a backup in it with Program Data, Users and Windows in it, even though it's very useless and doesn't serve any purpose. If I try to delete that folder, my Windows Explorer immeadiately crashes. Whatever I do, I can't delete the two folders. Can somebody please help me out? It's driving me nuts. Thanks in advance, Jesse EDIT I can't even format partition D. What the f*ck? Edited March 16, 2020 by Exxon
sivispacem
Try making a bootable live USB of something like GParted (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GParted) and erasing the disk from that. Guest
Fdisk should do the trick. Don't worry about drivers, Windows Update tool should find them all. If not google PC spec or use CPUZ to determine hardware.
