I kinda agree with the mask wearing.  Even if its efficacy is perhaps minimal in stopping the spread of the virus it has the very real effect of reminding every one that the virus is out there, invisible, but potentially deadly or crippling for some.

Experts have actually unearthed that face masks are highly prioritised and a necessity to reduce transmission of COVID-19 as well as social distancing and hand hygiene.

one of the cashiers or  employee's at the local grocery across the street from me got covid 19 last week, I run  errands for others in my building every day to that grocery story, and may of been there when that  employee was there, should I be worried? or self  quarantine?

I've had a bad canker sore in my mouth for over a week, it's almost healed, the covid case across the street at the grocery story was on October 14th

Self isolation guidelines manifest that if you have been in close proximity of someone who has tested positive, you need to self isolate for 14 days.

are you displaying any symptoms? If you are not, just for you to be aware symptoms can take up to 14 days to appear.

If its worrying you a lot you should ideally get tested and your results can determine for what you must do next, but you need to self isolate to fortify yourself and others.

when did you last go to the grocery store?

So I presume you must have went to the store on the 14th of October and before that too right?

There have been cases where people were in close contact with someone with COVID shortly before they got tested or started displaying symptoms, but never contracted the virus. Maybe you should self-isolate for 7 days just to make sure. Do they test those who aren't showing any symptoms where you live?

The fall surge they were talking about is real and happening right now. Lets hope we can all hold on and we don't collapse. Come on science work faster I need that f*ckin vaccine/cure/whatever like now. Not in Q2/Q3/Q4 2021.

It's pretty bad here too, though I google searched just now and they say it peaked last month and should run it's course by February. Hopefully that's the case cause at one point every day seemed to set a new record for number of cases over here. Cons of having such a large population I suppose but I'm curious how China after the initial outbreak seemed to almost get things under control considering they have an even larger population, like what did they do different that we could have done?

Communism and a lil bit of lying. But China can easily make lockdowns mandatory for their citizens.

I like to put the infection rates down to too much talking and social mixing.  If more people lived the lives of socially isolated weirdos there would be much less covid.

Oh, and people kissing and having sex. Must put a stop to that!

Vaccines take a lot of time to develop. The last thing you want is a rushed vaccine that most likely won't be very effective and may even have possible adverse effects.

Cui bono?

Cumulated accretion of US billionaires within March and August 2020: 637 Billion USD. In the same time, 40.000.000 US citizens lost their job, due to corona measures.

History Record: On July 20 2020, the biggest ever measured accretion of one single person occured: With 11% of all Amazon shares, J. Bezos accretion increased by +23 Billion USD.

In other words: One single man gained twenty times more money within 24hrs, than 600.000.000 Africans earned this day.

-B. Gates: +7.5 Billion USD (March/April)

-M. Zuckerberg: +23 Billion USD (March-August)

-E. Musk: +50 Billion USD (March-August)

-J. Bezos: +75 Billion USD (March-August)

American news broadcasts are so different from the UK. You guys' reporters are so enthusiastic while ours sound like they're watching the clock tick.

Nah that's just the morning news. The morning news is always upbeat. The evening news is always terrifying.

Apparently, infections have skyrocketed here, so for the first time ever, we are forced to wear masks in all indoor public spaces (supermarkets etc.), in school when outside class (in the lab as well) and not only does the government forbid assemblies of over 10 people (again), they highly recommend everyone to stick to a social circle of maximum 10 people for now (or actually January 2nd). Yes, I am f*cking lonely and isolated in the city, and the only people I see daily are my classmates and neighbors, but if I ever get the chance of making new friends, I am honestly going to sh*t on that recommendation.

In a couple of weeks this thread will be 10 months old.  Did ya'll think we'd still be talking covid?  Having to still live under restrictions?

This sh*t is crazy.

The situation is undeniably outrageous. It doesn't surprise me one bit how COVID is still going though, with the way a lot of people were downgrading the virus especially in Texas where I live. I fear we may have to live with COVID for another year or so.

I read that the spanish flu was in the uk for two years. The way things are going coronavirus will be here longer because people are selfish. It would go away faster if everyone just stayed inside and ate crap watching tv like me.

@trip I've not had my flu jab for about two years since being told my asthma is mild so I didn't qualify for a free jab on the nhs. Actually felt better without it. No way I'm having a coronavirus jab. I don't want anything corona related in me.

I'm not surprised by this since I have been getting my temp checked by a thermal camera going into my local gym for the last few months. In another level 5 lockdown now and the bastards closed the gyms.

The gyms were pretty good. Operating at a lower capacity. Thermal checks. Pre-booked sessions, and equipment clean-down by staff after every session aside from other members cleaning down the gear (as you should do anyway). Showers and water dispenses were closed but other than that it was a good system.

And, as much as I like my booze, he has a point..
