Lmao this sounds like when the dumbasses at Sky News kept saying Australia should have been like Sweden and not had a lockdown because they were fine and it would damage the economy, then Sweden went to absolute sh*t because of covid and it damaged their economy and are now closed off from the rest of Europe. A good portion of the world should have taken initiative instead of sitting on their hands and done the New Zealand approach at the very least, they only have around 100 or so active cases right now, hardly suffering at all.

I didn't make fun of 'shelf-stackers,' I just did a little process of elimination about your original post and worked out what you were referring to, if you were not wearing a mask while working.  The fact you defended it with a comment like that suggests I hit the nail on the head....

Just from BLM and SAVE OUR STATUES protests in London alone the entire police force should be infected with COVID, no word of them dying in masses PS none of them had masks

Do you think the police would be suggesting how short staffed they are due to Covid infections among their officers and supporting team?

I've got a friend who's an SPC volunteer in Scotland and they're begging him to take every shift he can due to shortages and budgeting restrictions.  Police do have serious depletion among their numbers due to Covid-19, but they're clever enough to avoid serious unrest by not going massively public about it.

the good old "my friend works for so and so...." yh they are so short staffed that I see police all the time, more than usual..... so short staffed they have time to send police to stations to enforce mask wearing "avoid serious unrest" hahahah but a deadly pandemic wont do that I spose, they failed that when you guys where fighting over toilet paper. The news told you toilet paper was in short supply and like sheep you all ran to stores to fight over it, was quite a sight to see.

I mean all the "essential workers" should be dead by now...should I not be dead? why are the people of wuhan having mass pool parties?

My office has rules about masks and I dont follow them, we have to wear one moving around the office but at our desk its ok to have it off lol what bullocks, what a polite virus this COVID is, lets you ride packed out trains and lets you sit at a desk or in a uber car.....but if u stand 1.99 metres away or if you go to a gym or school or pub...COVID gonna get you

anyway, this is not a discussion, I was attacked the second I made my feelings known, being called names etc, no1 seems to have common decency to engage in a discussion with someone who has opposing views without chucking insults about.....

Anyway im done with the lil "discussion" Peace out, good luck

I really have a hard time trusting any of China's statistics on Covid cases or anything really, remember this is the same country that started getting pissy and threatened to cripple our exports because we asked for an independent investigation into the situation, that would pretty much put our economy into the ground since they're our biggest trading partner by a huge amount.

Wow I just looked back at the guy's "just so happens to not be in schools but in gyms lool" thing, there's literally been clusters at schools here and under the current restrictions schools are pretty much all closed usually, remote learning only unless in person is needed.

I was going to write something nicer here but perhaps I'll just lay out my 0.02c again shall I?

Other members including myself came off hostile to your posts because you came in here sprouting absolute baloney, then next you jumped to the Bill Gates side of things, again for a man that is doing more than you will ever achieve I really can't take you seriously. This was all then followed by "PLANDEMIC" no trustworthy sources to back it up. Just straight up "PLANDEMIC". PLANDEMIC or not you really have to be blind in the head to still not be seeing the impact COVID is having on people, I've already explained my side and clearly the impact it's having on those even if they haven't caught it but who cares still right? If it an't me or the rest of my homies I couldn't give a f*ck is how your still coming off as.

Why should I be decent with someone who came into the thread who is not only ill-informed but would rather believe anti-vaxers, theorists with zilch degrees who sit on their bums all day trying to make everyone else feel miserable. potentially put others into other dangerous situations & literally couldn't spare a damn for anyone but themselves?... wait I take that back It's clear you don't care about yourself either and you're still taking this as a joke despite being called out by other numerous members.

People go to f*cking university for years to study the likes of medicine, the human body, become a doctor. It's a huge slap in the face to them when they can't be taken seriously because the public would rather believe some bum on Facebook that everything is fake, the people catching it have something else, don't worry about taking this seriously.

Great next time I want to sprout sh*t of my own, I won't need to worry about having to pay a fortune for a degree because the public is going to be more inclined to listen to anti-vaxers rather than take those who have years of experience and study seriously.

Great, talking to a child about COVID would be more beneficial than taking to someone who is clearly smelling of anti-vax and only wants to believe theories by those with fake degrees and nothing better to do.

You posted exactly zero "articles" or "sources". You mentioned several, but actually posted none.

This trajectory has been continued in your subsequent post, where you still fail to provide either.

Contrary to your assertions I did actually address the majority of the articles you failed to post on the previous page, once I'd dug them out myself. Which you'd have noticed if you were bestowed with basic reading comprehension and the cognitive ability to navigate an internet forum.

COVID...it’s a fact that the countries with the most strictest lockdowns are suffering the worst because of it.

Except the US, Brazil and Mexico, who make up circa 35% of the global Covid-19 death toll and all of whom were entirely slapdash in their approach to the pandemic, of course.

Many of the countries that currently have strict lockdowns have them precisely because they're suffering the worst from it. You've got the cause and effect relationship backwards.

Countries like New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan who came down extremely hard during the initial phases of the pandemic and rapidly instituted large-scale testing, track and trace, have returned to effective normality precisely because they reacted quickly and decisively. It's a failure to do that which results in the requirement for strict lockdowns.

Had a sore throat and some worrisome nasal mucus this Friday, so I chose to go home voluntarily to see how the symptoms would progress. They thankfully receded during some time in the evening, but boy were my palms sweaty considering how it could have effected my studies and my fellow students - if not the whole campus. It was probably just the shift to colder weather and the many smokes I inhale daily.

Now talking of campus, there was a confirmed case of covid-19 on my campus that same day. It was however at the pedagogy department of either second or third semester, so neither my class or my friends attending first semester at that department should be affected by it in terms of infection.

Yay, my mum's whinging again because the Victorian government is extending the restrictions for a little longer and ending the curfew in October instead of rushing the reopening and dooming ourselves to another wave. It's getting really aggravating getting into shouting matches over her bullsh*t now, thinks that just because it's mostly the elderly who die from it that we should just act like flu season and that the only reason I'm fine with the slow approach is because I don't have a job yet, totally not because I know we'd be f*cked in the long run otherwise.

I could get tested right now but I don't like long things poking at my brain. Literally a testing centre five minutes walk from where I live that I didn't know about (not my pic but same place same signs)

It's not like they've learned anything and are going to do it properly this time.

They've just had a massive anti-lockdown protest not only in my state but the neighboring state.  Stupid selfish pr*cks can't even think about anyone else, not even themselves.

And this is exactly why I said this is one of the major reasons the neighboring state is in lockdown because people just couldn't resist being utter lowlives and ruining the chances of any hopeful progress.  Hopefully they still feel good about themselves when they've passed the virus on and killed someone.

2020 is serving to be an utter PC trainwreck as well as a pandemic wreck and I'm sure we'll still continue into 2021 with this as well. I miss being a child living in a simpler time when the world wasn't so hellbent on political correctness and the crazy nutters were drowned out and not taken seriously. You can build an internet army now and if you have a large following people will follow you regardless.

Exhibit A of why you cannot rush vaccine development even against a backdrop of major and ever increasing political and commercial pressure.

Whilst this happening is a good thing because it illustrates proper protocol is being followed despite the aforementioned pressures. It is also an example why so many promising pharmaceuticals strand or get rolled back to earlier development stages during trials and why we should temper our ETA expectations. Safety should never take a backseat in favour of speed.

I do hope this serves as a wakeup call to those trying to will a vaccine into existence to score political points.

  • Social gatherings of more than six people in England will not be allowed in law from Monday 14 September
  • The new rule applies to people in private homes, indoors and outdoors, and places such as pubs, restaurants, cafes and public outdoor spaces
  • It applies to all ages
  • The rule does not apply to schools and workplaces, or weddings, funerals and organised team sports
  • A full list of exemptions is due to be published before the law changes
  • People who ignore police could be fined £100 - doubling with each offence to a maximum of £3,200

So how exactly does this work, you can go to a pub, but only as a group of 6? Yeah large groups definitely wont split into groups of 6 and get tables next to eachother.

It doesn't work, and hasn't worked for a long time. It's all very exhausting. The government sits there, strokes their beards and clicks their tongues pondering why cases have shot up, almost as if they gave the general public an incentive to leave their houses recently. I wonder what caused such unrest and upset? Remember to shop local, but don't forget your high street. Keep your distance, but do go back to work please. Schools are safe, but young people are going to kill their grandparents and it's your fault for taking them. Avoid public transport, but please accept this flimsy advertising campaign from Dettol reminding you that taking the train to work is miserable but it makes up a part of who you are.

50090941526_484ff21d60_o.jpg

On another note, today I was sent home from work because I have symptoms. I have had symptoms since Monday, but this is unfortunate because my symptoms are also shared with something known as the common cold. I was practically rolled up in protective lino in the chemist and rolled down the street with my cold and cough medicine that evening. I turned up to work this morning with a vague idea of how things would develop. Sure enough, I was sent packing and I now have to go back tomorrow for a swab, just like the ones I've been having weekly for the past two months which take nearly a week to produce any results. I last had a test on Friday, and I've only just got my results back within the last hour. It's getting slower and slower, and I received an email this week saying we might actually run out of tests if we're "not careful". I don't like how somehow this is my fault when my business is healthcare but what do I know? I've only been working through this entire fucking ordeal and it's starting to get on my nerves just a wee bit. I feel like I'm on autopilot. I'm bored to tears of people saying things like "oh you do seem stressed" or "you look run down". Of course I'm stressed and run down. I've had no break and I'm sick of people pointing fingers at me for doing my job. You wouldn't believe the amount of stick I get from people on the outside who seem to think I'm being unreasonable for banning visits, almost like I'm enjoying this. I've had enough.

I'm usually not one for sharing articles but this one from VICE UK just about wraps it up for me. The level of hypocrisy in being blamed for following instruction is enough to make you want to drive your car into a tree.

I'm aware I'm in the minority when I say I support the notion for a second lockdown. Boris can tart his language up as much as he wants, he's dancing very carefully around the terminology. I'm fortunate enough to work in an industry that is entirely unaffected in the short term by a complete societal shut down, but it's hard to say what would happen in the long term. I would be able to continue to go to work, to earn money and buy food, but there are obviously other industries that this may impact. I'm no economist so I can't say with certainty that I'd be unaffected, but I'm easily pleased and so long as I can meet my basic functions I'm fine. So long as all this doesn't bring back that infernal doorstep clapping, I'll take whatever on the chin.

I'm serious but also not serious. To be honest I'm at the end of my tether. This morning when taking my dog out there was a guy sitting on the stairs in my block of flats and my first thought was 'sh*t he might have coronavirus but be asymptomatic and now I've probably breathed in some coronavirus so I'm probably dead in two weeks'. Then I thought that if I didn't have to go to work I could've taken my dog out later, meaning I wouldn't have had to pass that guy on the stairs, so if I get the virus and die it's work's fault. Then I was in a queue at Poundland and I heard a woman talking saying her daughter still has to go to hospital to give birth even though she's got coronavirus. And people are queuing too close again. Bring on a second lockdown.

I don't think it's an active hope, it's just a readiness because things could very easily go down this path and we'd rather anticipate it. Of course nobody wants to be a lockdown, but if you expect the worst in any situation you'll never be disappointed.
