I admire anyone who can work long hours in a face mask. I was dripping wearing one for just two hours cleaning at work to see what it felt like. Hated it. Also had to use my shoulder to pull it down from my eyes.

Sounds like you’re wearing a mask that doesn’t have good ventilation/breathable material.

 

Is the mask you’re wearing made of cloth or a medic type mask (kind doctor/nurse type mask)

 

I have a cloth mask with ventilation in it which keeps it cool as I have to wear mine for 8 sometimes 16 hours if I’m pulling a double shift so the first cloth mask I had would be soaked from the sweat due to no ventilation so I paid $50 for a mask with a vent and it’s now a lot better.

@ṼirulenⱦEqừinox I'm using some cheap blue ones that come in a pack of 10 for £5.99. I'm not really keen on washable ones because I'm stuck hand washing my clothes and I can't be bothered standing in a queue at the places I normally buy antibacterial wash liquid for clothes like Dettol to add to the washing powder in the bath.

I suppose you can't expect much more for £5.99 in fairness.

 

 Buy a decent mask, or ask the place you work in to supply you with something half decent that you'll be able to tolerate wearing.

Thing's are getting back to normal here, my bank is  open 5 days a week now and re-opened a week ago and the City buses are back to front boarding again, there given bus passengers disposable masks when they board the bus, First Choice hair salon  re-opened last Friday, First Choice hair salon is making you wear a mask and limiting the amount of people they let in, Tim Hortons has  take out and not limited to there drivethru only now, they still haven't put there seating area around!..

 

Owe the indian cigarette black market is  open again  too, price only went up five dollars  a cartoon, the smokers are happy here  again

Even though I try to keep my cool, it seems like this "herd immunity" crap is a deathwish... at least for now. We have no certainly successful treatment or cure for the virus. Even if there's gonna be one, a vaccine is a long shot. There are some promising events regarding vaccine development but even if there's an effective vaccine, it will take a lot of time for the whole world to get their hands on it.

 

Rubbing salt on the wound, many countries have taken steps to loosen up protective procedures such as stopping lockdowns, opening up everywhere out of blue etc. While I understand that these are done to keep the economy going, there's a chance that the pandemic will be even harder to control and the consequences can be fatal. 

 

Some people are speculating that SARS-CoV-2 might have undergone a mutation that has made the virus less deadly - They're judging by the mortality rates which seem to have dropped down in some parts of the world (even though the virus is spreading like crazy). What are the chances? A lot of countries seem to be playing with the numbers, mostly for the sake of economic interests. 

 

All this is happening and I'm still keeping my regular smoking habits... bonk me!

The answer is: We don't know. It is possible that they would develop a quick response and be immune to the virus should they get infected again.

 

But we can't really test that yet, as no-one would volunteer for such a study.

 

On the plus side, we know a lot more about the virus and how to treat it better now than we did back in 2-3 months ago. So the mortality rate should go down to the expected amount (1% ish I think).

But we better find a vaccine or proper treatment fast.

Apparently the current theory is that the people who had very light symptoms or no symptoms are all, were able to fend off the virus with their own natural defenses, hence didn't need to create the antibodies to fight it off. Be it because their viral load was low, their body was in good condition etc.

 

Just as you do with a common cold or smaller infections that you stave off naturally.

 

So it is entirely possible these people could get the virus again, and have a different response depending on viral load, their health etc.

Are you rather optimistic or pessimistic? Europe seems to have the worst behind itself, but on a global scale we seem to be still at the beginning which means economy won't recover soon on a global scale, there is also a new outbreak in China.

 

Is the situation in the US and Brazil worsening or becomes it better?
