How the new features from RDR2 would translate to GTA VI?

Recommended Posts

One thing that a lot of people wanted from previous GTA is using the trunk of the car to store weapons. RDR2 does something similar with the horses, since you can only carry two big guns.

I don't think that would translate very well at all. Me personally, I like to try out lots of different cars, especially on my first playthrough. It'd be a pain having to grab my guns out of the trunk every time I switch rides. And then there's the fact that Rockstar likes to force us into specific vehicles for specific missions. I didn't think the limited weapon loadout worked very well in RDR2, I think it'd work even worse in a GTA.

Some of the other features, like getting dirty, hair growth, and "interacting" with NPCs could work but I found those mostly useless at best so I wouldn't be upset if they got left out.

Motels could work early on go in and save the game at a shady looking motel for a fee. Wouldn't be much useful later on when we have safehouses though.

On one hand I really want the RDR2 weapon system, big weapons at least (rifles etc) are visible on your person and if you want to get a rifle you need to pull it out of your personal vehicle. I'd love that but personally speaking I want a more grounded approach for GTA VI. Dex's post above also raises a good point regarding switching vehicles is far, far more frequent in a GTA compared to switching horses in RDR, so that'd be a problem they'd have to figure out if they did go with this system.

Beyond that I'd like some of the sim/RPG aspects back, eating/drinking, weight loss/gain, cleaning (to an extent, anyway), and temperature.

I would like to choose my default car, and yes those RPG aspects are great and i would love to see them in next GTA.

Being able to store stuff in the trunk of protagonists personal car (or saddlebags if he has a motorcycle) would be a good feature, maybe it could also work similar to the gun locker from GTA Online to store weapons we don't wanna carry.

Allowing us to choose personal vehicle the way we can choose horses in RDR would be great, though I guess that feature is already in GTA Online so it wouldn't really be from RDR2.

They could also put dual wielding in GTA,I know it was already in GTA SA,but that was 16 years ago and it hasn't been featured in GTA games since.

I can't decide about being able to carry only a few weapons,on one hand it would make the players strategize and pick which guns would be the best for the situation, but on the other hand it would make the gameplay a bit limiting.

Looting NPC corpses would be cool, while dead NPCs could drop money and weapons/ammo for us to pick up like in older GTA games, looting their corpses could allow us to find some stuff we could later sell for extra cash (cell phone, jewelry, etc.).With some NPCs we could even find an extra weapon, for example if they had a rifle or a shotgun in their hands, they may also have a handgun.

Edit: I think a system like the horse and its inventory would be fantastic for our vehicles.

Just like with my horse in RDR 2, I would care for my car a hell of a lot more if it had my weapons, my clothes, equipment stored in it. It should get dirty and we have to clean it, and tune it to keep it running well. It sounds like a chore, but the system in RDR 2 works perfectly and its not intrusive at all.

I can just see the animation where you hop out of the car, press L2 or something to "lock" onto the car where you have several options, like "tune" "clean" and "storage" and the cool as f*ck animation where the protagonist quickly pulls out a rag and wipes the car clean. It would be quick and unrealistic and not a chore I think.

I like the chapter system in Bully and RDR 2, it's great for pacing. I'd like the crafting system to be worked in some way, but it wouldn't be about crafting food I guess, but perhaps unique weapon configurations and drugs that give you health and stamina boosts ect. Perhaps if the game is set in modern times you could purchase the diagrams/recipes from a parody of the darknet/silk road.

I want your clothes to get dirty and you have to change them to avoid attention. you shouldn't walk around with blood on your clothes (unless you want to of course)

A proper inventory system like RDR 2, with collectibles. I loved the cigarette cards so something like that which is fleshed out and not just shoot 200 pigeons.

Mainly I loved the world building, all the stories that were told from the letters and books you pick up, the newspapers, Arthur's diary. That level of detail, I hope carries over. It all adds to an amazing sense of place.

I like this idea and think it would have made sense in gta v.

its all about making your horse more important and connecting you with it more, in gta v each protag had a personal vehicle that belonged to them but never really felt personal. More like an accessory that reflected their character.

in GTA VI i hope they expand on having a personal vehicle you care for throughout the game. However i hope they strike a balance with it and being able to use any random car on the street.

suicidal_banana

The only feature i want them to copy over is the better take on passive mode that RDO has, in RDO you can be 'passive' but still use your weapons to do missions etc, thats what GTA:O2 really needs to have.

The robbing and bounty system could be transferred to gangs.

Since GTA2 (yes, seriously) people have wanted a similar "honour" system with the different gangs and its never really been implemented since. Rockstar could allow the player to rob/hold up gang members (like Omar Little from The Wire). This would incur a bounty from that gang who would put a hit out on the player. This would then incur random hits on the player - like bounty hunters in RDR2.

- Witness system, if you kill someone in the desert, only your honour will witness.
- the trunk system MUST be in VI. If you want to change your favorite car, there is only a fast animation of him moving the things from one to another. if you don't, it is up to you to use another car without your things, it will work, it did in rdr2.
- Improvements in your place, home...

yes there are a lot of things i would love to see from rdr2 in gta 6. for starters. i think the keep your equipment in the car could be okay. my only concern is if the car gets blown up. would it destroy all your weapons and stuff? with horses its not a problem. if it gets shot then you can just pick up your saddle and take it to a new horse. with a car it might be different. so im okay with having it or not.

i would love to see them bring back the inventory. and have food and drinks affect your stats. like having vending machines. and you can select a drink and each drink does something different. or a snack vending machine same thing. i also think it would be cool to have a drug system. including a drug dealing minigame like chinatown wars. each drug could give you different affects. and even give you boosts. but if you take too much you can od and die or take damage. in rdr2 you can smoke and drink. and it affects your cores in good and bad ways. you can even use cocaine. so a similar system would be cool in gta.

fishing would be cool. it was a fun little mingame. but it can sometimes be tedious. so i would hope that we would not have to keep spinning the stick all the time. i would love to see some saltwater fish. i assume all the fish in rdr2 are all freshwater fish. but im not sure as im not a fish expert.

hunting would be nice. i know its not as big as it was in the wild west. but it could still be used to make a little extra money. or even use the meat for food.

i would love to see the npc interactions again. its so cool being able to have conversations with npcs. even if its not a long one. its still cool.

looting is a useful feature. you can get some extra money or even some nice little trinkets to sell for cash at a fence.

For GTA VI I think I would really enjoy having animals in a free room session as they have in Red Dead redemption because in story mode there's animals but I pretty sure it's two data heavy and intensive for the lobbies to be able to support players alongside killings and missions and animals in GTA v. Hopefully it'll be added into GTA 6 when and if we get it in the next whoever knows how long!!

I forgot to add also the Red Dead weapon wheel selection for accessing different things would be a much needed feature as it is now in GTA v I find it clunky and not really user friendly how the interaction menu and calling different vehicles is currently. I'm sure when the game first came out and there were less options available it was fine but as we see more DLCs and things added to the game the more clunky it feels

😂 There's no honor among thieves..  I find it hard to see how they would even have a role or a honorable thing in GTA. Games called Grand theft Auto so...

There's a couple of features I'd like to see return from from RDR2 plus a couple from some of the older games.

I'm in full support of the player's personal vehicle being used in the same way as the horse in RDR, being able to store weapons and ammo in the trunk. It's really not a hard concept to understand, it's a simple feature for the player to learn and use, and it does have its place in a GTA game. All weapons including pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, shotguns, grenades, and heavy weapons will be stored in a big duffel bag that resides in the player vehicle's trunk. If you want or need to switch cars with all your gear with you, all you gotta do is run to the trunk area of the car, press a button, and boom! Your duffel bag is slung over the shoulders of your player character. You will be able to recover your equipment REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN BLOWN UP OR FLIPPED OVER. There should be NO restrictions on being able to recover your gear. Which brings me to my next point, yes I know we will have to sometimes switch to a specific vehicle for certain missions. So the only way around that is to remove the vehicle impounding feature that was used in GTA5. From here on out, whichever vehicle that has your gear will be marked on the minimap and it WILL ALWAYS STAY IN PLACE NO MATTER WHERE YOU LEAVE THE VEHICLE ON THE MAP. It's not gonna suddenly de-spawn and end up in an impound lot, and it's not gonna de-spawn back to the player's safehouse. It just stays in the one location you left it in, and you can travel back to the car and either get back in it, or switch the gear into your new vehicle. As for weapon loadouts, I would love for it to remain the same as it did in RDR2. You can carry two sidearms, two longarms, and throwables (grenades/molotovs), OR you can carry two sidearms, one longarm, and one heavy weapon such as a Rocket Launcher or such, plus any throwables you have. Pistols and Uzi-like weapons are concealed in the player character's waistband or pocket (not visible, however), while two handed weapons have straps that the player character uses to sling over their shoulder when not in use.

I would like the wanted/witness system to return from RDR2 with some minor tweaks. I love the idea of being able to intimidate witnesses into not reporting a crime being committed by the player. We should be able to have the choice for the protag to be able to rough up/intimidate the witness, grab and smash the NPC's cell phone if they're in the middle of making a 911 call, or just outright kill them if you want a fast result (however this can result in even worse attention if there are other witnesses around). I like the idea of towns and areas being on a "high-alert" status after a particular major crime or bloody crime spree, just like in RDR2. All you gotta do is stay outta the city or whatever small town for two in-game days (you can abuse the save game feature by making the protags "sleep" for two days), or if you insist on returning back to whatever area is still on lockdown, just try your best to avoid the police. And when you're being chased by the police, I would like to see a return of GTA4 style policing, where once the cops lose sight of you they establish a search area and actively search that perimeter (the size of which can vary depending on how high your wanted level is).

I want to see the return of having a wide range of friend activities to do just like in GTA4. I wanna be able to go out eating, bowling, drinking, playing darts, catching a movie, see a show (cabaret or stand-up), and etc. Not only that, but I wanna have multiple locations across the map to do all these activities with multiple places to go to. For instance in GTA5, I shouldn't have to drive all the way out to Blaine County just to play darts. I always thought that was ridiculous. There should be 3-4 places within Los Santos that I can play darts at, along with 2-3 different locations in the city to go bowling at. I would like to see a return of the dating activities as well, just like in GTA4. However if not that, then at least retain the booty call option like we had in GTA5. Hopefully this time we'll have more partners to pick from rather just 4, and then two extra "secret" options.

Last but not least, I would like to see the return of keeping the Pay N Sprays separate from the tuning garages, like in GTA San Andreas. In GTA6, the Pay N Sprays should function exactly like they did in GTA4. You drive in, your car gets repaired along with new paint scheme, the plates are swapped (I realized that the plate thing does not happen in GTA4, but that would be cool to implement in GTA6), and the in-game time is fast forwarded by 3-4 hours. They should look like non-descript auto body shops in seedy parts of the city and other areas across the map. These Pay N Sprays would be used mostly if the player is in a pinch and needs a place to quickly  get the law off their back. I also want the ability to be able sell stolen cars through these shops for quick cash, just like you're able to in GTAO. Tuning shops will function only to customize vehicle appearance with body kits and liveries, and to further enhance vehicle performance such as handling, top speed, and acceleration.

I'd certainly like to see the weapon maintain feature be transferred over - it's such a small addition in RDR2 but one that I absolutely love. The cleaning feature was great (and no way near as much of a chore that people like to make out) but I just love being able to look at and inspect the weapons up close - the weapon models in RDR2 were incredibly detailed - especially after you customised them with engravings and carvings. Defo something I'd like to see be transferred to VI - Although I hope they let us inspect melee weapons like knives as well.

Another thing would be game world interaction - one of my favourite features of RDR2 is the 'sit' feature where you can sit at numerous points across the map - often overlooking scenic view points. Again a really small feature that you could even miss altogether depending on how you pay the game but one that added a ton of immersion. It was such a nice surprise to see Rockstar add this feature because many players over the years had wanted this in GTA games - for me the game worlds are always the star of the show so it's cool just to be able to sit stationary on a cliff or where ever and watch the game world go by - really hope this is transferred over to VI.

I see a lot of comments saying we should have a personal car like the horse in RDR but in my opinion it's a bad idea and would interrupt the flow of the gameplay a lot!

One major difference between the horse mechanic and a car in GTA is that you can whistle to call your horse anytime. How would that work with a car? It could be a self-driving Tesla-like vehicle but then every car in the game would be electric? Only high-end car would have that feature? Remember the game is called Grand Theft Auto and the stealing random cars mechanic is a very important part of the game.

I think it works for RDR because the gameplay is slower paced and in general focused more on realism and role-playing (hunting, skinning animals etc.).

I don't like the idea of having personal cars and storing weapons in it. I like to steal vehicles and destroy the sh*t out of environment using different guns, thats what was GTA all about. People have hundreds of personal cars in GTAOnline and they still use maximum 4-5. So having a collection is just a waste..

Just steal a random car and go to pick your car? Or just call Taxi and ask the driver to go where your personal car is?

Exactly this.

I like the idea of a personal vehicle. I thought it worked pretty well in V but it could use some improvements. Mainly it'd be nice to be able to decide what our personal vehicle is. I wasn't too fond of always switching to Franklin and he was riding around on the damn motorcycle.

I've probably said it before in this thread but I hate the idea of forcing a limited weapon loadout on the player and then making them babysit a magic duffle bag that can hold every gun they own. I love the idea of an optional storage system, though. A way to discard weapons we don't use so as to keep our loadout from getting cluttered.

They already have this in online. You just call your mechanic and they deliver whatever car you want. It wouldn't be too hard to incorporate that into single player.

The companion system could translate well. Take the random Companion Activities from RDR2 and connect the progression of such activities with crew member selection for various heists.

I just want the proximity based radar and  map. And the PvE option for free-mode missions.

They could add those changes to GTA: Online and it would make it a massively better game.
