Also, I don't know why, but I really don't understand why they decided to make Los Santos so small, yet they added such an enormous highway system.

I must be at least 1/6 of space in Los Santos lost, especially La Mesa.

You're on point, the roads are way to big in general.

Basically the city is too small for the roads they have, and there's a lot of empty spaces that could've been filled like in La Puerta.

Over the 7 years I got use to it and how it is, but it wasn't easy at the time of the release.

R* problem is that they try to put too much on a system that's near it's limit, just like San Andreas for PS2. If they just waited for PS4 and Xone it might've been a different game, but nooo $$$$$$

I actually liked the 3 protagonists in V. Hope they try something similar.

Yes, but we can agree that Rockstar balanced eveyything in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, when it comes to the map.

The argument that GTA V was limited by old gen consoles has one issue.

What was the point of having a huge map when only half of it was fully used? What was the point of having an almost useless seabed? If you look at Online, the content over there is rich and they manage to craft a pretty good world before it got hit with latest updates of flying rocket-firing nonsense.

Rockstar had the means to make a pretty damn good game. They failed because they had no direction for GTA V. For some reason, they also invested a ton of money into marketing the sequel of a well-known game.

And... what was the point of making a big map, while most of it is unusable, because it's just mountains?

Still, while I understand your point about all the shark card revenue, just to give you another perspective, I wouldn't call them ill gotten gains.

Actually, Ill Gotten Gains that I was referring too was the name of one of the early updates to GTAO. It was the one with the golden plane and helicopter and it came out before the Lowriders update. After IGG and beginning with Lowriders was when Rockstar really started pushing Shark Cards and it was also the time they stopped adding vehicles to single player entirely.

I wouldn't say Shark Cards are "ill gotten" per say but it really makes playing Online feel like a hassle since you can just buy your wealth flat out.

I know the mountains are useless but in V's defense I'll say that SA had not much going on either. Yea there was a bike race on top, and there's yoga on Mt. Gordo so xD hehe.

Overall the country side has more going on with offroad races, gun running and hunting, animals and just folks riding, fishing etc.

Sure it would've been better with even more stuff but hey.

Eh? SA had like three cities filled with its own main missions and side missions. For each city there was a large side area like countryside, forest and desert which also had their own main missions and side missions. Heck even the mountain was involved in a story mission at least unlike V.

SA utilized its map well, heck it may even be considered bloated with too much content. They didn't even spare the military base.

GTA V does however uses its map well in Online.

Eh? After talking all that about mountains and countryside how you keep talking about the whole SA?

After the story what is there to do in SA countryside?

Trucking, bike race, Red County has nothing. I guess if boat and flying school counts then there's more.

V has offroad races, jet ski races, hunting, gun running, a gondola running to the mountain (useless but it's something), parachuting, plus it looks alive with animals, waterfalls and people riding around, farmers etc.

Because the conversation started with the overall map, not just mountains and countryside, those were just examples of the overall map's shortcomings as stated here:

The side activities aren't the problem. What we are arguing is that SA had three cities, each with their own side area like desert/forest/countryside and still manage to put in story missions and side actiivites into every area of the map. GTA V is only Los Santo and countryside, that's only 1/3 of the SA map and still pretty much empty.

You may argue that SA isn't any different but that's a 2005 game with a state-level map, GTA V is 2013 game with only one city/countryside, SA shouldn't be competing with it in the first place, at least in terms of quality, yet here we are.

Both V and SA side activities aren't special. Difference is that SA did acknowledge most of its map in the story, which V didn't bother. But there was one thing in SA that did make maps relevant even after story i.e buying properties. By buying houses in the countryside, forest and desert, you could make the map into checkpoints at your own choice.

They forgot to show him ironing clothes in an empty lonely house and working as a tow truck driver (two things he spends much more time doing than gang crime).

LMAO, that whole trailer was just the mission "The Long Stretch" and street races, a bit of the Jewel Store Job (best heist in the game imo lmao), and that's it. That's about all he did crime related in the story of 69 missions.

This whole Franklin's campaign could be a Free Bonus DLC for Grand Theft Auto V.

I mean, he has like 5 Story Missions and plenty of pointless Strangers and Freaks ones.

Do you really think PS3 could handle 3 cities, deserts and countryside, with triple the size if the originals, interiors, trees and the draw distance we have all in HD?

People need to get this in their heads that SA happened, and probably will hever happen again.

As for SA utilizing every part of the map? Hah, no. You see Whetstone is barely touched, one mission on Mt. Chilliad, most of country missions were involved in robbing small towns with Catalina, and two races.

Desert was a bit more used but still. Picking up Kent, that heli protection, one was in the plane, another involved flying a plane to Whetstone and back. Green Goo was technically in LV. Most of countryside was not utilized well either.

I mean what can you do in the mountains of V, herding sheep and getting a tent, this isn't Brokeback Mountain or RDR.

One thing that R* wasted was North Yankton.
