The ocean in GTA 5

Does anyone else think they spent too much time designing like the underwater area of the map? It seems really detailed but I think they should have spent more time adding more city areas. It's like only 20% of the map is city area and the rest is country area I think they just are too lazy to design more buildings. I think it's good to have some country area but the whole map being like that I think they spent too much time designing the underwater area which I think was a waste.

Preach. Total waste, especially when there's really nothing to do there (the missions/side missions set there are incredibly tedious). If they already had an amazingly large and detailed city with a ton of interiors, and a diverse countryside with more forest/desert/small towns and less barren mountains, and still had room, THEN it would've been acceptable to indulge in miles of detailed underwater environment. But it shouldn't have been done at the expense of more interesting and useful stuff.

I personally only discovered not long ago that there is whales in this game even after 4 years of playing it

nobody explores the ocean in gta v its not interesting and the only reason to go there is for collectible which do nothing but

being a pain in the ass for people who want the 100% completion

Yea I wrote this while I did the mission where you scuba dive into an underwater lab, I was like when did GTA become this lol.

Honestly that was probably the only time I really enjoyed the underwater lol, that was pretty cool and fun. Diving for wrecked submarine parts, collecting toxic waste with the submarine and any time you have to drive the submarine in a mission is torturously boring though. There isn't anywhere near enough entertainment provided by the underwater landscape to justify it being so huge.

Gettin up

I'd rather they scrap underwater and make some cool interiors instead.

It's so boring that Rockstar decided not to make any underwater stuff in RDR2...

The only reason V map is bigger than SA, IV, RDR map combined is because we got 3 sh*tty oversized mountain, 1 oversized lake, and the unnecessarily huge underwater nobody asked or cared about

It is what it is, nothing we can do about it.

It doesn't bother as much, actually it feels relaxing sometimes just rolling and exploring, looking at wrecks and thinking what's the story behind it.

I for one never played anything like it before.

They put so much effort into things that fall into oblivion it's weird.

I have mixed feelings about the ocean. I actually spent a lot of time exploring it, looking for easter eggs, looking for megalodon, being creeped out by the ambient sounds of the abyss, I find it an interesting location. And the mountains seemed cool at first because I liked to drive up and off them, but now I spend most of my time driving around LS or in the towns in the countryside. But if I had to choose between the gigantic mountains and detailed ocean or another city and more interiors, I'd choose the latter.

Personally I love it. It's one of the only things about the game that makes it stand out and I spend a lot of time down there.

why do keep doing sh*t on the f*cking water?
its really dumb but i guess its for the details.

Also unlike GTA 4 you cant visit restaurants anymore or pickup stuff due to the game getting no realism at all
and also who the f*ck who would even send alot of police cars just to arrest a speeding guy?
its really dumb allowing an guy using an big gun in the streets.

Yes, I'd say the underwater parts seem to have received highly disproportionate amounts of effort as compared to the time players actually went underwater. However, I do suppose that with just 1 island, there really is not much of a point for players to use boats/aquatic vehicles, is there? WIth IV, there was at least some reason to use a boat if you had to travel between the islands and one was close by, or to visit Happiness Island. With V, the ocean was really somewaht pointless since there was simply no reason to go out there, save for that one online mission where you raid an aircraft carrier.

Yeah the ocean has no real point unless you want to get hidden packages or see a few cool easter eggs, idk why they put so much effort into it and not the actual map most would explore

Unpopular opinion: I actually think the oceans are perfectly find and it's the 2-3 mountains that are the problem.
