Think it more is R* forcing us to play together and just make sure that there is at least 22+ players in the session no matter the cost! And the error code we get (0x20010006) is when to lobbys merge (or that is what I think it is)!

I have no way to prove it but I think a lot of the problems we see is because rockstar have put in lots of things to stop exploits. They have probably put so many things in to prevent them that it's affecting the game in a negative way for other players.

^^ There is some truth to that code-wise--the more checks and balances R* adds throughout the game, the more performance suffers. (One of my coworkers who is a programmer explained that to me).

I said it after release. The game is CONSTANTLY checking stuff by sending and receiving requests and replies to the R* servers. The game was built from the ground up to prevent or make exploits easily fixable. Every little thing is a request for confirmation, as soon as the game cannot confirm anything you get kicked.

For future Whooping Crane, replaying Highly Illegal and Highly Moral landed me and my friend a couple each within minutes of starting the mission. A good mission for all your exotic bird hunting needs.

I agree, I am not gonna bother trying until animal spawns are fixed and hopefully we get properties or something . Hunting is my favourite thing to do , I loved to turn off the HUD display, turn off music and just hunt silently in the game . Not to mention can't really be a trader when this animal spawn issue is so constant . Hopefully this gets fixed soon , such a waste of a game

We now have more stuff than we did during the beta phase. Bounty missions, Trader resupplies, moonshine missions and possibly the Camp upgrade (Trader business).

If you exclude all those features, animal spawns might work properly.

I have been seeing a whole of animals and random events in a full lobby..maybe they are getting it together.  It was shott lived...unable to complete 7 medium animal daily

I've spent in sufficient spawning lobbies this evening, most of the time. At one point I was in a lobby of 9 and no animals to see. Someone had a sh*tty connection out there!!

Had to deal with a few f*cking griefers, with very little game time left, so that was a bad closing of the evening. 

But, overall, I see improvements when it comes to animal spawns. I hope R* keeps up with the patches and not resort to silence, after a few positive bits of feedback.

Last night the animal spawns were definitely better for me.

 

Unfortunately the camp was also broken and Cripps refused to pitch it in Great Plains across multiple sessions, despite there still being room in Great Plains. I haven't seen that since the Frontier Pursuits update :(

Hackers/Modders will always be faster than the Devs and unfortunately the Devs cannot plan for every eventuality.

So basically it's an issue of the game not being able to handle the increased data stream induced by new content; though in my mind, with a fixed number of players and animals, there's only so much activity that can (or should) be going on anyway--new content technically shouldn't make any difference if handled in the same way. Players can only do one thing at a time.

 

In any case, unless R* adds private sessions or reduces maximum players/session, it doesn't bode well for the future of RDO. It's never been able to reliably handle the strain at the levels and conditions everyone has come to expect--disconnect issues have always been there since day one for many players. That might explain why R* hasn't enabled features like being able to swim underwater...

 

What's odd to me is that GTA Online's data stream is reliable enough to handle new content ("stuck in the cloud" issues aside). It may have less to handle, but it at least doesn't run into a brick wall with its updates.

 

Another question that comes to mind: Is Red Dead Online the first open world game to push the limits of data streaming?

Leftover Pizza

After a disaster of a morning load in, I tried another and it's working quite good. I'm in a 23 player lobby and animals do spawn very well, making the 6/6 large carcasses for Cripps a piece of cake. I was able to relocate my camp from Tall Trees to Great Plains without a hassle and my horse routes pretty good again. I must say, I've seen worse days. 

I still don't trust the game to work like this every session now. It's still Rockstar we're talking about. 

But, credits where it's due, I am seeing more improvements than I ever expected to see and I'm regaining fun in this game bit by bit. Not out of the woods yet, but getting there slowly.

Things might be improving. Today I found a herd of Bison in the Great Plains for the first time in weeks. And now have a three star Bison pelt stored in my hunting wagon.

Found a herd right outside my camp. There was only 1 three star and I donated it to Cripps right away.

 

Not to brag, but I'm finding them constantly, filling up my materials bar with easily.

Am I right in assuming that Fort Wallace being open to access last night was just related to some kind of player mission or task?

 

Was the first time I've ever seen it open in RDO, and been able to go inside, loot items, shoot soldiers, etc.

After I stupidly went to sell a batch of shine after my 2 hours of glory in my own random lobby today that I fell into after a stranger mission [the shine mission start froze requiring a restart btw], I came back and was once again in a 23 person session, but there were more animals than before in full sessions.

 

Fingers crossed.

I almost hate to say it, but animal spawns are getting better and better. Was doing a round near Lagras and the swamp was literally swarming with alligators and birds. I found an egret really easily and 3 predator skins too. Must have seen at least 25-30 gators on land and as many in the Kamasa River too. 
 

Back in the Plains, groups of deer and pronghorns, flocks of small birds and bison too. Lobby size never went over 20, btw. Must say, I had good fun in game this evening.

Seems like animals spawns is actually getting better. But I'm not going to praise them for it. Animals spawns problem should have been acknowledged and fixed long ago, but I do appreciate that they at least tried to fix it and somewhat exceeded. It's still not like how it was in the BETA but is better now than how it was in FP and MS.

 

Now they should focus on fixing bugs like infinite loading screen. I can't stand it recently, it is really frustrating having to close application every time I want to change sessions. Closing application doesn't even work sometimes than having to seat through another loading screen is just not fun. Here's hoping another patch drops soon and fixes some of the most frustrating bugs that is plaguing this game.

You can quick join any showdown then just quit to free roam instead. Its really annoying to restart the game just to get another session.

Tried that, doesn't work everytime so still annoying. But still better than having to restart everytime.

What is interesting is that I started playing with my other account about 2 weeks ago and that account has animals spawning almost normally (if I am alone and no other players nearby). It's been like that since beginning. I have bought into all roles now on that except moonshiner. Had a comment on one of my videos that someone has 2 accounts and the one without moonshiner has animals spawning. Don't know when they made their account though.

 

On my main account I do not see animals really, a few here and there if I stay in one area. Once lobby dips to 19 or even 20 sometimes animals start to spawn a little. It seems to depend on the lobby (host) a lot. Maybe if you are close to host or if there are lots of new accounts nearby you see more animals?

I have not cleared game cache though as I am lazy and don't want to do all settings again.

They seems to have pushed it from 18 to 20 but it can´t be compeered to a solo or small lobby of <10....

Same here!

 

Some players I ride past makes my game go all wonky.... It starts to drop frames rates and things don´t spawns in time! So I´m not surprised why animals and most of all random encounters don´t work as it suppose to!

Forgot to say that when I'm close to a new player and animals start to spawn for em and I start killing and skinning quite often I get disconnected. It's like nope, you weren't supposed to have them spawn

I don't have time to kill them all. And I don't want to either. Seeing the world alive again is so much more immersive than roaming barren lands.
