No.  There was some disconnects and some other minor issues but nothing like today.  Somewhere R* lit the dumpster on fire and pushed it down a flight of stairs.

It was never going to make money on the scale of GTAO and whenever GTA VI releases, it won't make money on the scale the online element of that either.

Pure speculation of course, but you could be asking a key question here. One that saw Dan H head off elsewhere, for all we know. 

 

It could have been that he said let me make another RDR, then I'll go and you can do whatever in online.

 

Who knows, lol. Hopefully today's patch is more helpful regardless. :)

I joined a lobby last night, animals everywhere!

 

Then I looked at the player list... 6 players.

 

Of course. How silly of me to expect anything different

Are they really blaming poor internet connection on most of these spawn problems like I've seen mentioned in various threads around here? Or is that just speculation by disgruntled fans?

 

If i have good internet I dunno why I would have to suffer because of someone else's connection issues ... seems like BS to me, or maybe i just dont understand

I agree. Rockstar are the richest developer in the world. If there was an issue with the gold store it would be fixed immediately. They need to acknowledge it is a big problem first. The fact they won’t acknowledge it as a serious problem shows they are

not serious about fixing it properly.

 

this is my favourite role/activity in the game so for me personally it’s a game ruiner.

Nice to see New Austin filled with animals once again. 

That was my go-to for a while, however it hasn't worked for me this week.  Even trying to join through my friends posse was 50% at best.  I'll get up to 90% and then keep getting a message saying something along the line of "unable to download blah blah".  I should add that I say "this week" but I only played on monday and wednesday

Rockstar isn't blaming anyone, the truth is that other players could end up ruining the experience due to P2P network structure

The thing with P2P is that it gives someone with a poor connection a smooth experience when in reality he's tearing everything apart and he doesn't even notice it. He won't know the cause of the issue and will continue playing. Some players would blame Rockstar servers, but let's be honest here, if the servers were the issue, animals won't spawn in a solo lobby. Animals are chilling in lobbies with 16 players or less but when more players join up, they suddenly vanish. It's really obvious who caused them to vanish. It's that damn player who cast a magic spell whenever it gets really populated, he's somehow coexisting in different lobbies at the same time, must be another magic spell he's using.

I suspect this is due to Rockstar preventing players to load in with low MTU settings to get a public solo session, like in GTAO. There is no more matching connection speeds to put players in a lobby with about the same speed, thus players with a slower connection being a bottleneck for all the others in the session. In a way, I do think Rockstar is to blame for chosing this type of connection for the lobby, especially to keep their 'everyone in the same lobby' idea.

To me, the solution then is Rockstar limiting lobbies to 16 players or less. They can do it. It would fix the problem.

^^ The only reason they don't is because they insist on encouraging PvP; the more players in a session, the more likely it is to happen.
