The 1.17 patch is out on PS4. Download size is 3.869 GB. 
 

Update History listed on the PS4:

 

Update 01.17 - General stability fixes and improvements. 
 

The build number showing at launch is 1232.26.

[February 13, 2020] – General Fixes – (PS4 / Xbox One)

Improvements to reduce issues with ambient wildlife populations in certain Red Dead Online sessions. Ongoing improvements are underway to reduce these issues across all platforms.

We’ll have to wait for the RDR2 Title Update 1.17 Notes to be put up by Rockstar I guess. I can’t check at the moment unfortunately.

Same, Xbox One have an update but I can’t confirm the size of the update because it’s downloaded so fast so I suppose it’s less than 1GB

I've downloaded the update on PS4, currently in Great Plains, 23 player lobby, not so much as a bird in the sky.

 

My camp is also AWOL.

 

Seems like a good use of 3.87gb.

 

Edit: I did a full console restart and cleared cache before playing.

They really weren't lying when they called us freeloaders and wanted us gone, lol. That'll do it alright! 🤣🤣

Turned off my PS4, cleared cache again and I'm seeing nothing different.

 

24 player lobby, no animals other than 2 wild horses and a few ravens while riding around Tall Trees, Great Plains and Hennigan's Stead. 

 

Camp won't pitch either.

 

Has anyone noticed a positive difference?

 

Also, tinfoil hat time, @Fun 2, as the drip feed content ran out on Tuesday, with so long seemingly left until the next update, is there any chance 1.17 was adding new content such as clothing to keep the drip feed going for another few weeks?

I think it was the CEO of Take Two who essentially called us players who don't purchase shark cards (that was before RDO I think, but the overall sentiment would include golf bars now) as freeloaders

Pretty sure this "Bug Fixes and Stability" is bullsh*t that they put out to satisfy Sonys requirement that each patch has Patch Notes. More than likely this will be the second round of dripfeed to tide us over until the next update.

mission replay (both normal and moonshine story) seems to be possible again. other than that, i didn't notice any improvements.

Sorry, no offense really, but I had to laugh at some of you guys 'enthusiasm towards a fix for the  animal spawn rate, or whatever.  If R* knew how to solve it without breaking more stuff they would have fixed it already, wouldn't they?! Benzless, danless, R* staff and support for RDO is 10 dudes sitting in india, working with R* games as 2nd job.

I just logged in. My camp is on the map, but in Great Plains, not Big Valley. I go to camp and it's actually there to my surprise. But I got no dog and no prompt for Wilderness Outfitters to check the dog situation

 

EDIT: I checked the camp location status and nothing is checked as a region my camp is in.

 

EDIT EDIT: I was standing in my camp and Cripps packed it up right there and walked away

 

EDIT EDIT EDIT: I set up my camp in Scarlett Meadows and it pitched and my dog is there and Wilderness Outfitter is working

 

EDIT4: Just did a defend camp and some of the enemies were stuck in the woods and they were despawning faster than I could loot, turn my back and they were gone. The payout was 0.08 gold and 7 dollars though

With each patch and no fix, we move closer and closer to private lobbies.  R* has this card to play...I think we are getting close to this happening.

Hopefully we'll get patch notes, cause if it's yet another patch that is just is 1 line long in the patch notes then ???.

I have to say that whilst blatantly not fixed, the animal spawn issue has (for me at least) shown some improvements of late. (I'm not yet on 1.17).

Of course most of the time the game is devoid of wildlife but on two nights this last week I've seen spawns that appear 'just like the old days' in lobbies of 20-22 on Xbox One.

 

Sure all the other nights this week have been crap for animals but those occasions stood out to me like maybe they're tweaking things?

If that is something they can do without downloadable patches, perhaps this download might just make it more likely they can tweak away and get results?

I may be talking out of my arse because I don't know how they do what they do. Just reporting things 'as it seems to me'.

I was just in a session with 22 players, some players join in and leave so it's 22 to 24 players.

Anyway, I was in New Austin and animals were spawning, then moved to Rhodes, explored the area around and found some animals. Of course, they don't appear almost immediately, takes some time for them to appear. Then I encountered a moonshine camp event, got detected and killed all enemies except the remaining enemies that the game never spawned which is strange. It seems like I experienced the same issue as @aFinn did.

I guess R* made the game focus more on animals than NPCs? or data is being sent much faster and verified much faster than before?

Currently switching to a new lobby to see if I still encounter animals, maybe I was just lucky to play with some players with good connection.

Leftover Pizza

Installed the patch, turned off PS4, pulled the plug and left it for 1 minute. Then turned on PS4, cleared game’s cache again while starting up the game. 
 

Spawned near camp, with camp option, saw a group of white tail deer about 10 yards from me. Swung out my guns, aimed and saw all of them despawn the second after. Vanished into thin air, as like they were beamed up Star Trek style. 
 

Did a few easy daily challenges at my camp for my streak and logged off again. 
Rockstar’s streak in Days Disappointed Players is also secured and steady going. 156/28 for them for sure

Hey there, I have 15 years sober.  But seriously, I forget who or when from Rockstar stated in an interview that they could do private lobbies, but they were not going to do it unless they had to.  Its on the forum if you can find it.
