Is matchmaking broken on PC?

Recommended Posts

please stop me

I've started up contact missions, racing, arena wars, you name it and it's rare for someone to join. is matchmaking broken, or am I doing something wrong somehow? surely gta can't be this dead on pc.

A thing to note, I was once put in bad sport by a hacker, contacted rockstar and got this sorted, surely I can't be facing some kind of glitch from this?

I found it's pretty rare to get people to join contact missions, races, adversary modes, ... unless they are x2.

Going on call for these game modes is better.

By the way, if you have "remain host after next job" set to On, it will prevent session merging if you are the host. That's really the only passive match-making done by the game. So if you want bigger sessions in lieu of host status, I'd suggest to turn that Off.

Depends what you mean by broken.

Id say it’s more of a rusty old banger than a write off. It’s always worked in the loosest sense of the word, it’s just always been a bit crap.

Aside from whimsical remarks - if you’re sending out an auto invite for a heist finale it won’t take long! But if it’s something less lucrative people tend to ignore the invite. I get one every 5 minutes or so for the original heist set ups.

What they ought to have done is add a lobby search function so people can look for the sort of things they want to do etc like we had in GTA IV. Let’s say I want to do DD Act III, I can go on call but then will probably get dumped in Avenger or Rescue ULP and watch the noob(s) die horribly, because I can’t specify.

For other modes it would also be good if they found a way to group people up more effectively. I get the impressions there’s tons of people who want to do races all hosting their own and not joining up.
