Belt Buckles RDO's in Game Reward

Recommended Posts

gibsonteddyj

Currently working on the assists belt buckle in Showdowns.  Started with 132 assists about a week and a half ago.  Just hit 500 assists last night.  In that whole time of playing exclusively Showdowns, I have gotten 3 first kills and 4 last kills for a total of 16 first kills/18 last kills.  I don't think those buckles are gonna make it to my collection.

Can anyone else confirm?

I have never tried intentionally downing myself by taking a horse hoof to the face.  I always turn on friendly fire and shoot my posse mate in the foot a couple times with the varmint rifle.  Works like a charm.

Assists are the only sharpshooter buckle I have left. Assists rarely register.  Elimination modes are the way to get 1st and last kills.

I don't think posse assists would be as tough as the non-posse assists especially if you have a large posse and drop into a free roam event like Fool's Gold, King of the Castle, etc.  The better question would be do posse assists also count as regular assists?  They should, right?

@CosmicBuffalo I'm thinking the only way I get to 100 first/last kills in a shootout is to have a full lobby of like minded, willing to cooperate people that want to own those two particular buckles...willing to take turns on the first/last kill in an Elimination Series.  Lol, I know that isn't particularly "earning" the buckle the hard way but I would be willing to bend my ethics for these two in particular.  I can assure that I have put in the blood, sweat and tears to earn all the other buckles I have.

I got both of them legitimately by playing Gun Rush.

Spoiler

I like Gun Rush.  It really was a wasted opportunity putting in player cams and Rockstar's hands off approach to cheating and exploits.  They could simply hire a few people to just play online to moderate...even this forum is better moderated than their games.

Then it looks like I will have to play a bunch of Gun Rush after getting these 1,000 assists in Showdowns.

I'm not only hoping for private sessions, I'm also hoping for being able to pick and host our own showdown modes, WITHOUT randoms joining.

I have 2 ps4s, it would make the first and last kill awards super easy.

Only for the posse assists do I need help from a friend. I rather boost it than actually play PVP in this game.

Just completed the fully research 90 animals award :)

Funny thing, it ended with the first legendary animal I found.

Is anyone else having issues with the use Harriet's tonics award?

I use the revivers and 90% of the time it doesn't count towards the awards.

Sometimes I revive an animal without using a reviver and without getting xp.

Other times I do, but it still doesn't count towards the award.

Yesterday I got stuck in a loop of reviving an animal, ended up using 3 revivers, but the awards didn't count and the animal just died somehow.

I got the tonic buckle.  Several of my buckles are bugged.  Like the counter puncher and bounty hunter buckle in day of reckoning.

Not sure if anyone has gotten this seemingly easy buckle yet...it took me forever because the other players recruited didn't get the concept.  The buckle for playing a song with a full band of players at the moonshine shack is called the Sextet Buckle.

The buckle for stamped sets sold to Harriet for the Mountain & Grassland Habitat is called the Mountain & Grassland buckle.  Very original and creative name, lol.

I have just a couple more stamped sets to sell to Harriet to complete the River & Forest Habitat.  I'm going to venture that it will be named the River & Forest buckle.

I went to the area up above Brandywine Drop where the hideout sometimes spawns in.  I would ride back and forth on the railroad bridge making sure to look on both sides of the bridge.  When I would get one and sample it, sometimes there would be another moose spawn in on the opposite side of the bridge, sometimes not.  To reset the spawn, I would ride north on the railroad tracks until I came to the tunnel, turn around and go back.  For me, it would reset the spawn and there would be a moose species there about 1-out-of-3 times.  You can also reset the spawn the same way by going south on the railroad tracks back toward Annesburg.  I found all of my samples in public lobbies.  Fortunately, no one goes to that area much in my experience.  But a solo lobby would probably make for finding them much faster.

Another thought:  if you sedate a moose in this location, theres a good chance you will have to fish it out of the water.  Be careful and move slowly while lassoing.  Sometimes the lasso will kill them if you drag them too forcibly.

Finished up the Forest & River habitat as well as the Desert habitat.  I had the most difficulty finding Black-tailed Rattlesnakes in the Desert habitat.

I think I have seen one online my entire time...north of strawberry.  Its the only animal I have not encountered thus far randomly since naturalist.

They are rare in single player.  To get moose chaps or pants...whatever, I must have spent $500 in herbivore bait...the spot was only good for female.  I tried in online for about 10 mins, it did not work.

I actually went to this spot you are talking about looking for bull moose...had no luck.  Maybe I will try the railroad tracks spawn reset.

Yes, there is a moose spawn in Big Valley.  I have only seen it there one time since Naturalist role came out.  My posse friends say they see it there all the time but I don't have any luck in Big Valley.  A moose will also spawn near Owanjilla dam sometimes.  I have found one up near the O in Ambarino while getting Timber wolf samples.  The only other place I've seen one is at Aurora Basin where you deliver moonshine sometimes.

I can confirm that the herbivore bait does work up above Brandywine because I've used it to spawn in animals.  Its a crap-shoot though because it can spawn in any animal that classifies as a herbivore.  I got 2-3 western moose with bait up there but gave it up eventually because I was spawning in animals that I didn't need more times than not.  Even spawned in a wild horse one or two times.

It might be worth passing along that almost every time I've did the Harriet Legendary mission for the Red Buffalo (don't recall the name of the buffalo) that there has been a moose in the stampede of buffaloes right after the cut scene when the buffaloes take off running.  I also hear that there is sometimes a moose that spawns in on the Night Beaver hunt from Harriet (the one in Roanoke Ridge area).  I haven't ever seen it but the few times that I've done the mission, I wasn't necessarily looking for a moose.  Hope this helps.  The moose species is by far and away the most difficult to get in the Forest & River habitat.

You may know this already.  If so, apologies for passing along non-useful information.  If you can get at least two posse mates that are willing to participate, you can knock out the posse assists award reasonably quick.  The more posse mates you have, the better.  I'm grinding through this award now.  This is what me and my gang are doing:  I have one posse mate that is grinding the "Death from Beyond" award so I will fire up a Posse Infighting, we all huddle up so that he can drop dynamite in the middle of us.  Before he throws the dynamite, I will shoot the other posse mate a couple times with the varmint rifle or semi-auto pistol (any weapon that will deal low damage with a body shot).  When we are blown to bits by the dynamite, I will get an assist.  Good thing about it is that it will count as a regular assist (the one in the Sharpshooter category) as well as a posse assist.  The more posse mates you get to participate, the faster it goes.  If you have a full seven person posse, you will get at least five of both assists each time you all are blown up.  The most I have ever had while doing this is 4 people and I got 2 assists each dynamite drop (toxic moonshine works too if everyone is out of dynamite).  I usually get 5-7 assists and posse assists each posse infighting we do.  We try to do 2-3 posse infightings per day.

Hope this helps.  I think it is reasonably fair to assume that most people that haunt this thread are completionists.  If you are on ps4 platform and need someone to grind out belt buckle awards with, look me up and I will gladly help out any way I can.  PSN gamertag:  RockyTopTed.

There's a bull moose that spawns in https://reddead.fandom.com/wiki/Where_Your_Morals_Lead_You

I've killed it a couple times. He is usually found running from the second camp area. He runs left of the camp.

Good luck.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. But I think our difference in timezones will be an issue, what part of the US are you in?

Eastern time zone.  I usually log onto RDO around 9pm EST and play for 3ish hours.

I got the 90 researched buckle. That stupid camera can go to hell.  So advanced that you cannot use it on your horse...and dismounting from you the horse grays it out until you stop running and standstill.

It's horrible. And don't even get me started on opening sc which takes forever to load instead of getting on your horse! It's the same damn button!

Oh yeah, the best is when you get out of social club and then you forget to put the camera again after you get out of the social club menu...and try to get on your horse and reload social club.

I have 7 more to go for the 90.  I am going to do all of the Harriet legendaries that I don't have full research on.  I think that will get me to 90.  After I get to the 90, I'm putting my camera on eBay.

I'm currently working on assists, revives, and posse assists awards.  Still got a ways to go but I am getting about 25ish assists and posse assists per day(could maybe get a few more per day if I did exclusively PvP modes but I don't care much for it).  I am at about 400 revives and get a couple per day...gonna take awhile for that one.  I have ran my bounty up to around $15.00 and kept it.  The bounty hunters come after me 2-3 per hour it seems.  I started about 10 or so days ago and have 63/100 for evading bounty hunters.

Just finished up the Wetlands Habitat buckle a couple days ago.  Easily the most aggravating habitat for collecting samples.  If anyone needs any pointers that I discovered while farming the samples, let me know and I'll pass along what helped me out during my pursuit.

Yes, please, how do I turn a Panther into a Florida Panther, my odds are like 10/1. Absurd.

Lol, yes they are a pain in the backside.  I used the Crossfox Legendary mission to farm my panthers.  Both times I farmed them it seemed like the spawns would comes in bursts...I would get a regular panther for 3-4 spawns then I would get the florida panther for 2-3 spawns then it would go back to being regular panthers then back to florida's.

My experience when farming through the Cross fox mission:  if I killed the panther, it took longer for it to spawn back in.  If I didn't get the panther I needed, I either sedated it and ran away or just ran away if my horse didn't throw me off.  There would be one there every time I came back when I didn't kill it.
