I think the player getting killed has to be considered hostile to you. I noticed in showdowns many of the assists I got didn't count. Which is stupid ofcourse as they are rival players. So I think that player has to have shot you actually. When I get a PS5 I can actually get this award by myself and it's gonna take a long time and be very boring lol. Free Roam events is your best bet such as "King of the Castle", "Railroad Baron"... even Free Roam posse wars... I didn't find showdowns to be very good at all. janborg Posted April 23 Share Posted April 23 (edited) How "Posse Assists" award works: You have to take 1/2 of the player health pool and then your posse mate needs to finish the kill (credit goes to @gibsonteddyj for figuring this out). The mecanic seems to work exactly the same as the regular solo "assists" in sharpshooter awards, except your posse mate needs to finish the kill. Watch this video to see how the mecanic works in practice. _______________________________________________ Tips on how to achieve it: Some weapons work better than others. Carcano/Rolling Block seems to register most of the time, because of their large damage, it works especially good if you play with aim assist. Free Roam events are great for posse assists. Instant respawns makes it easy to stack kills there. "Railroad Baron" is the best, because you respawn together all of the time. Use this site to see when free roam events start (add 1 hour at the moment because of summertime). If you join a free roam event and see alot of high levels/posses, you can join a new free roam session really fast and get into another free roam event of the same variant, that gives you an extra chance to find lower level players to fight against, this can be a good tip if you want to make it as easy as possible. Showdowns with atleast a 3 man posse(else you will spend alot of time finding your mates)... "Takeover Series" works good for this as you will need to be on the same team. "Posse Infighting", have a brawl with your friends in free roam(choose open places), but the short time and cooldown makes this a less good option in my opinion, but it can work really good if you have a patient posse. _______________________________________________ Conclusion: This is not a fast award to achieve not matter what you do, most of us agree that this is among the hardest and slowest awards to get, hence why I wrote this mini-guide. You need somebody to help you at all times, which makes this award extra tough. The best advice is to do as many free roam events/showdowns/free roam fights as possible and always be in a posse, slowly you will achieve it without noticing it. You get an assist to register if you take enough of the other player's health with your shot before your posse mate/other player kills them. For example, if you shoot someone in the foot with a small game arrow and then your posse mate kills them, you will not get an assist. If you shoot them with something like a bolt action or Carcano as @janborg mentioned, you will take a significant amount of the their health with your shot and the assist will register when your posse mate makes the kill. Same applies to regular assists. I achieved the posse versus and most of the posse assist awards from doing posse infighting with my friends. We did a lot of experimenting/research while doing the infighting as well as hundreds of all out rumbles. As best I can tell through tinkering, you have to take at least half of the other player's health with your shot before the posse mate makes the kill to get an assist to register. What makes it so hard to get assists in Showdowns is that a lot of players are swimming in high level tonics so their health is overly fortified. Your single shot with a bolt action on a player that has downed a level 3 health tonic isn't likely to take half of his health with one shot. There's 16 possible to get to the gold X. I currently have 9/16 gold X'd. I'm about 2,500 sniper head shot kills from finishing that one off(I have massacred thousands of Del Lobo's at Thieves Landing along the way). I have another way to achieve it with my secondary account that would finish off the award in about 2-3 days but I would be simply killing my secondary account over and over and over. Seems more of a "legitimate" award by not going this route. All the other weapons I need to get to the gold X are over half way completed with the exception of the throwing weapons and melee weapons (about 25% completed on both). After that, I'm not sure what I will chase down...maybe level 1,000. I'll likely be somewhere in the vicinity of level 800 when I complete these gold X's anyway. I go to the gunsmith and gold out the components of the weapon when I reach the gold X on that weapon. Are you sure that repeater can be reset all the way to "X"? (I know you most possible have reset that one fully, but my bow/sniper forexample is also stuck at "IX"). So is your "repeater" award beyond the "IX" point? That is what im wondering, if yours is also maxed out at "IX" or if mine is bugged. I can only get to "IX" on those, i thought they were bugged for everybody... the reset button is grey, where it normally will show nothing at all except a grey "pin" when the awards are fully maxed... That kind of sucks, but I don't know how or if it is possible to fix it... I have heard of others with the same problem though... will do some reading about the subject and maybe get back when I know more. edit: Thanks for fixing the google PIC, I can see the screenshot now... damn I have no idea why some of mine gets stuck at "IX" with a grey reset button, but now I know that some people can actually reset them fully. Lol, funny that you mention what me and my gang used to refer to as "xp forest." I went up there with a friend just yesterday to see if we could do a posse versus there. It didn't work and we couldn't resist the temptation of trying the old xp farm. Like you said, doesn't work anymore. It spawned me back in Annesburg when I was killed. (As most know I have done all, so I feel like I have the right to make that statement lol) might take longer time to get to 1000, but you can atleast enjoy the game and in many ways without even going out of your way to make xp. how is it going for you guys? gibson how about you?
