I remember the good old days when I was getting chased by rabid bucks trying to kill me as I was picking herbs. Lol! I barely get attacked by wolves anymore, and that used to annoy the heck out of me, now I miss it.

Set a waypoint through some woods

Go into Cinematic Mode

Be amazed as three wolves spawn and attack you.

I normally switch between my PC and Xbox which I have hooked upto the same TV so I will put "auto-ride" on, switch Input and browse the web. I SWEAR every time I do this I get attacked by a pack of at least three Wolves. I have even been attacked by a Cougar doing this.

This even works with the current drought, I normally fill my Wagon up with five Wolves and just feed Wolves to Cripps.

You know when you shoot a deer and it tries to run off, but stumbles and falls into the ground, then it starts kicking and writhing in pain.. screaming out for help but nothing is coming.. That's exactly what RDO has been doing for a long time now, the som-uva-bich just won't die.

Or you simply put auto-ride on to get a snack.... or take care of other business. Come back and find a pack of wolves mauled you not even a mile off from where you started

Yes, I even heard them soon as I started to walk away last time and thought "Not this time f*ckers!".

I was going to Hagen for the daily that day as I couldn't be bothered to do anything else

I got hit by 5 wolves today right as I came out of the Tall Trees moonshine shack on a bootlegger mission; I walked out and my horse was going nuts and didn't know why.  Start moving towards the mission marker and 5 red dots and howls start happening.  Glad I had the repeating shotgun ready.

Pretty sure R* has triggers for stuff just to annoy you that are not affected by the animal drought.

Finally was able to catch a break from life and.............still.......nothing......wow.

When experienced/long time/veteran/ever since Genesis chapter of RDO players feel like this week will be their week:

R*:

Well time to enjoy the weekend and back to dreadful work and school on Monday..........I might get on today though.

Man I'm sorry for the long time players on this game who are still on this game putting in work. I feel like R* should at least, for us that played in the BETA phase, get a weekly sum of $100-$200 regardless of logging on or not if they are going to cater to new players for a while. I get catering to new player to add more players to your game, but you lose them on the back end. New players become more experienced and later will have time under their belt. Eventually they will see what we see if they haven't already and then these players will fall off. Now knowing the community, R* can get a lot of the older players back by adding in stuff that would transcend new players, but quite a number would remain gone though.

We never left BETA. I get that games have bugs but bugs that are crashing peoples games, impeding them from playing the game at all, taking peoples stock, making them lose stock during sales etc is insane. And for so long? Not a single peep, no compensation, there will be some people that have spent actual money on buying the Moonshiner Shack in the form of purchased Gold bars and they can't even use the part of the game they paid for.

Bethesda gets sh*t for Fallout 76 being a buggy riddled mess and yet nothing for R*? Yea, we have seen some articles but not the arse stretching that Bethesda is getting. RDO in its current state is just as buggy and riddled with hackers as Fallout 76 is.

Bethesda deserves every bit of it. R* at least makes new SP content unlike them. AND they don't make a sh*tty service fee on top of buying the game.... if they made 76 FREE to all and gave a year of service to everyone whose played it beforehand, then the subscription MIGHT have sat a lot better.

GTA's not as bug ridden as RDO is, I still enjoy it. The Casino heist brought my love for the game back, this update...? MEH.

They need to fix their game and make an update that feels unique. No new role/business, or a filler update with a few missions...

I don't get it either.

R* (and T2 to some extent) seem to get a free pass where companies such as EA/Activision/Bethesda/Ubisoft get rightfully called out on their sh*t.

I can only imagine it comes down to one of three things, or likely a combination.

Firstly, R* have IPs in GTA and Red Dead Redemption that are almost universally loved amongst gamers, especially GTA. That kind of love gets them a lot of slack.

Secondly, they aren't overexposed, which sounds ridiculous considering GTA V has shipped over 100m copies, but R* aren't in our faces with annual releases, each almost inevitably worse than the last iteration. They basically have fans in a constant state of wanting more.

Lastly, there always seems to be someone else worse to grab the limelight. I despise the Shark Cards in GTAO, but the microtransactions in EA games are arguably much worse. RDO is a bug ridden mess, but Bethesda have managed to make FO 76 the standard bearer for buggy to the point of being unplayable live service games. The Housers don't seem like particularly good guys and Strauss Zelnick comes across like a robot attempting to pass as a human where the human it's trying to pass as is an absolute c*nt. But other industry players such as Bobby Kotick are c*nts on such a colossal scale that Strauss manages to stay out of the firing line in the most part.

Rockstar got some pretty large stick when RDR2 launched due to crunch comments by Dan Houser, the backlash to his comments caused such an uproar that Rockstar seemingly have made changes to how they approach this stuff. At the very least Rockstar developers became a quite a lot more open to talk about life at Rockstar than they used to be.

This is the correct reason I'd say, but not for the reason ALOM gave. Uproar when it comes to games tends to happen around games that have lots of discussion online. Bethesda Game Studios games (remember that BGS is a studio, Bethesda is the publisher) have a big vocal fanbase online, huge mod networks, playthroughs that are popular on places like Twitch and YouTube, etc. When BGS f*ck's up their fans make a big stink and it gets picked up by the press cause the crossover with the circles they visit is huge.

Rockstar is different because for some reason or another. GTAO and RDO do not have particularly large communities online. There's GTAF, the subreddits (which are tiny compared to other popular games and generally just lack activity) and one or two decent size Discord servers. When uproar happens about a Rockstar game, it happens in these communities where no one outside them hears about it. Remember the whole Take Two vs Modding thing? The reason that got so big was because people went to the gaming press with it, it wasn't something naturally picked up by the press.

This isn't exclusive to Rockstar either, there are other games I've seen that are popular but don't have lots of discussion online so when the developers f*ck up, even if it's a horrendous overstep, it never usually does the rounds in the gaming press. You'll sometimes see people post on r/gaming or r/games in an attempt to drive attention to the issue but it doesn't always work.

I agree with all your points. I think that R* gets away with it because they make stellar Single Player games and their MP is not as hardcore as stuff like COD or Battlefront so people don't care if its sh*t.

Bethesda sh*t he bed by making a Multiplayer only game after years and years of trying to shaft their own fans with paid mods and stuff like that. I think that the online only for 76 broke the camels back for their fans.

Here we've got PvP vs PvE, PC vs console, and all sorts of different views on a GTA or RDR which might not help, lol.

To paraphrase, Rockstar is perfectly happy being the maybe-sometimes-lesser of cunts in an industry rife with them because they squeeze out shiny new sh*t that makes people forget their cuntery every 5-8 years.  Agreed.

Yup.

Try it in different areas, I have had Cougars and Bears spawn as well. Try up near Marko's lab as well. Pretty sure I have had a Mountain Lion spawn there as well.

Spent alot of money and gold again. Once again poor as f..., hehe… Purchased three pamphlets and now it's back to the grinding business to get back to 100 goldbars.

Slowly but steadily I'm acquiring all the stuff I wanted and then it's time to start going completionist… By the end of this month all unlocks should be handled, only Moonshiner (two more days) and five levels to get to 100. Got three horses fully bonded (well last one will be tomorrow), so that's going well...

Overall I'm content with the game, over here the animals still spawn (alot). I do admit I tend to spawn into almost empty sessions lately. Ain't complaining, as it makes my life alot easier...

Last two months I haven't barely touched GTA online and I'm not missing it either. So something must be going well in RDR online for me... 🙂

I think they can get away with it, because their online versions are always offered as a Free to Play game and they don't feel obligated to deliver topnotch services for their free to play service.

That combined with the things you've mentioned, cuts them a lot lot of slack, which hopefully backfires on them some day. The higher they fly, the harder they'll fall. And whatever goes up, must come down one day or another.

Hopefully we will be around to see R* learn their lesson that if you have both single and multiplayer you have to show effort on both sides because customers expect quality all around their product.

R* can feel however they want to feel about this sh*t, I know most of us here see through the whole online being a free add on BS and I can only hope that the community at large can see through it too.

If you have to buy a full priced AAA game to access the "free" multiplayer, that sh*t ain't free, regardless of how it's marketed.

I'm with you all the way, but Rockstar doesn't share our ideas. They'll base themselves on whatever is convenient for them. I f*cking hate their attitude and move towards the sentiment of being a little bit amused if this all backfires in their faces. Had I known about what a pile of sh*t the Online version would be, I'd not have spent the extra 30 for the UE version of the game. The benefits of owning it aren't worth it, on the hindsight.

Lesson learnt: Never preorder anything Rockstar again, and certainly not an UE version. That is IF there will ever be another Rockstar game purchase here.

Exactly. It be a different story if the junk was a standalone multiplayer that you can download regardless of a purchase of the singleplayer game and it was a free download at that. The thing is R* knows just as much as anybody else we had to pay for the title to even access the muliplayer. I don't like when companies sell a package for a price and then turn around and act like a piece of that package was an "add on" that was free when you wouldn't be able to have said portion without purchasing the whole package............I love playing video games as much as the next gamer, but these companies are really trying to push how far the boundaries can go at this point. Crazy thing is its not just R*.

Come on now R*

Yeah, I've been lied to before, so I can smell the sh*t before it lands.

Free, my ass!

I bought the RGL version of the game for the 50 gold bars, then it goes on sale on Steam almost right away, so essentially I paid real money for that gold, which is fine, but doesn't mean I believe the bullsh*t.

I think one reason R* gets away with not fixing their messes and Bethesda doesn't, is because Bethesda literally told customers "too bad, suck it up, we don't care" regarding their complaints, and R* says literally nothing to their customers.

Communities surrounding online games almost always have their share of toxicity, but occasionally they can pull together when pushed too far, as shown with Battlefront 2.

But think about it, it took a company the size of EA placing iconic characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker behind ridiculous grinds in a Star Wars game, on top of the heavily implemented microtransactions, to get a fan base to come together enough to force real change and the issue into wide public circulation.

The community surrounding GTAO could never, ever, come together in that way. As @Jason rightly pointed out, the online community surrounding R* games is small in comparison to those surrounding other developers and franchises, but you remember this place in 2016 and 2017 in the GTAO section, it was poisonous at times and places like Reddit were even worse.

The RDO community seems to be, in the most part, far more friendly that that of GTAO, it also seems to have more of a collective idea on how the game should move forward. But I still doubt that enough of a collective could be formed to force R* into real change. You've only got to look at that monstrosity of a suggestion in the Next DLC thread about getting rid of proximity blips because forced free roam PvP is apparently what this game needs, there are too many "BuT iTz Da WiLd WeSt" players out there.
