herpina
Hello guys I was searching through my old PC games when I came across Grand Theft Auto IV. My laptop originally ships with a Windows 8 license but I already formatted the C:\ drive and installed Windows 10. From what I have read on forums is that trying to get GTA IV installed on Windows 10 is really a pain in the ... This got me thinking of installing Windows 7 alongside Windows 10 on my laptop. So to shorten up my story a little bit I have installed Windows 7 on my laptop (without sacrificing my Windows 10 partition) but now I have come across a very different problem. As alot of you guys know, GTA IV on PC is just a HORRIBLE port from console to PC. Everything that eventually could have failed actually did fail. But my question is, is there any chance of me being able to normally play GTA IV on my laptop? My gaming laptop was purchased in the summer of 2015 (brand new) and these are the specs: DISPLAY: 17,3" matte 1920x1080 LCD display (16:9) GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M (2 GB) MEMORY: 8 GB RAM DDR3L (SODIMM) CPU: Intel Core i7-4720HQ @2,6 GHz STORAGE: 128 GB mSATA SSD + 1TB HDD 7200 RPM OS: Windows 10 Enterprise x64 + Windows 7 Home Premium x64 As I have said I installed Windows 7 on a different partition just to be able to play GTA IV but then I stumbled upon the next problem which is the lag. The game seems to run fine at first sight. But whenever I start driving around with Roman in his taxi vehicle the game starts stuttering when I start accelerating. When I release the accelerate button everything runs smoothly. The ingame "Graphics" tab in the ESC menu tells me the game is only using approx. 960 MB of the available 2048 MB of video RAM. My laptop specs are way beyond the game's minimum and even recommended system requirements. Does anyone have ANY solution to this, are there any patches of some kind? Thanks in advance. videotechuk_
Yeah, I know why. Sadly, GTA IV is a 32 bit application therefore cannot use most of your system resources. However there are solutions to sort of fix this issue. Left a link below: Quote Steam -> Library -> GTA IV (right-click) -> Properties -> Set Launch Options... -> -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -availablevidmem 4096 -> hit Ok. - rockjustice4 from Steam https://steamcommunity.com/app/12210/discussions/0/540744936560033785/ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/944529-any-chance-of-getting-gta-iv-to-work-with-my-laptop/#findComment-1071054617 Share on other sites
