Saint Denis is Bloody Awful

Recommended Posts

Everywhere else in the game if you get into a fist fight or deal with things non violently and the law leaves you alone. In Saint Denis I knocked a guy out, was somehow instantly wanted and then, when I tried to surrender to the police I could not because they were ALREADY shooting at me.

Bringing my horse into the city I feel like I'm holding my breath, waiting the entire time for some carriage driver to run her over... and then I get killed by the cops after knocking the dipsh*t out.

I can't walk down the street without someone thinking I'm stalking them, reporting me to the police who then try to kill me.

Seriously... I need some suggestions because I absolutely HATE Saint Denis. I hate being there. I don't want to do the side missions. I don't want to go anywhere near the place because it is a bloody DEATHTRAP. How the hell do you get through Saint Denis without getting killed over and over and over and over again by the bloody police... cause hell, getting out of the city is nearly impossible once the law is after you. I make for the tracks and twice now I've gotten killed after they shoot the horse out from under me after refusing to accept my surrender after a lady got scared by beard.

I hate Saint Denis. Can anyone help get me through it or, even better, find a way to love it?

The wanted system kind of ruins the place. They spent ages creating a beautiful city just to have it spoiled by the terminator-like police force.

You shouldn't be shot at for beating people or even worse, stealing a horse by accident.

You should be told to either leave the area or surrender unless you have your gun out and aiming.

i actually love saint denis. and i dont have the problems you have. at first it was hard to traverse it. but its not that bad now. and as for getting in a fistfight. all you have to do is keep antagonizing someone until they fight back. when they swing first then you can fight them without the law coming. i recommend going to the area near the stables. go antagonize them and the whole group will fight you it is very fun.

dude I just lost my sh*t in Saint Denis and started shooting and killing everybody. I was riding on my horse next to some photo studio and 2 guys who were chatting with each other started insulting me. I antagonized them, they said something back, I antagonized them again and then they start shooting at me. I killed them both and somehow there wasnt anybody else on that street. no witness. 5 seconds later Im on a different street and suddenly there is a witness. in reality that guy could have heard the gunshots and thats it. he doesnt know who was shooting or if anybody was killed. but of course he reports the crime maybe 10 seconds later and immediately I ran into a lawman who already knows not only that I killed somebody but also my name too.

I f(u)cking hate the witness system. its garbage. whoever the bastard is that thought this witness system works good and should be left like this in the game deserves a slap in the face.

I also hate Saint Denis, but not for the same reasons. For the games most advanced city, there is NOTHING to do there, you play poker or buy clothes. There are very few enterable buildings or things to see. Once you have been there a couple of times and completed the 'random' encounters, it is just totally lifeless.

The only reason I go there now is to get into a massive brawl in the alleyway by the stables, then take a photo after I've knocked out at least 50 people. This is going to sound racist but it's exactly what happens.. if you go at night and there are no white peds around, you get away with fighting as many people as you like. A few times I have gotten away with murdering at least 30 people with a knife. As soon as a white guy sees a huge brawl or if you have stabbed someone, instant witnesses.

I agree... it's a shame really ;(

It could have been so much more.

It's weird, St Denis. Impressive to look at but not a lot to do really. It should be better than it is.

When I'm there I kind of enjoy it but am usually quite glad to leave. That's exactly the sentiment in the game from Arthur and Dutch too.

I don't know if it was on purpose or accident, but Rockstar nailed it with the oppresive atmosphere of Sandy Knee and how it repelled cowboys and the players themselves.

Whenever I am on RDO and decide to spawn on Lemoyne I always go to Rhodes, 'cause its one of the most simple towns in the game and nails the Wild West theme.

The city itself is a nice place to be in but as said above, it's the dumb wanted system that ruins it.

I've already said this in previous threads but I was just trying get my photo taken, and two guys start antagonizing me, so I did the same as anyone else would do.

Now, considering that THEY attacked me first, I fought back, (i didn't even kill them, I just knocked them out), and the next thing you know, I'm getting shot at for "unarmed assault".

Now I can excuse the GTA franchise for trying to get the player for self-defense because no one will remember your crimes and you can lose the cops easily.

Now for a game like RDR2 which HEAVILY depends on realism, this is f*cking frustrating when you have a bounty tacked onto you.

The place is crowded, what do you expect? It's a booming city. Having less pedestrians would make the city feel dead. Further,  Saint Denis is part of ''the civilized world'', meaning high presence of police, law and order. If you get wanted in Saint Denis my suggestion is this: flee into the alleys. Find a hiding spot. Wait. If you rush though the city when wanted, things get even more bad.

I think it's been fixed, but it used to be you'd be reported for horse theft when you left the stable on your own horse (online). Happened in Valentine too.

Saint Denis is a beautiful place but the law f*cking ruins it. The people in there are also overly sensitive.

A few hours ago I was riding at night, and Saint Denis is a ghost town at night, for whatever reason, I get wanted and have to escape, then pay a $50 bounty.

Then I was simply running, and a person didn't like that I ran, so they tried to beat me up even when I try to defuse the situation. I beat him up, someone reports me to the law and I had to run again, $75 bounty.

This time, it's not Saint Denis' fault, but also the game. I walk out of the saloon and try to get on my horse, but lord and behold, the same button for you to get on a horse is the same one that you use to grab someone. I accidentally grabbed someone since they were standing outside the saloon, someone reported, you know the rest, another $50 bounty.

I swear, PS2 era GTA-clones had better wanted systems than this.

NOT okay when one of the fine workers at the dock punches me in the face, I run, and then get an Unarmed Assault charge. Literally, he hit me, and I did not hit him back. WANTED: UNARMED ASSAULT

sh*t's broken.

Call me a noob, but I have a stress issue with Saint Denis because of the damn horse. Streets are too narrow and I keep getting close to the NPCs horses... then the "Jump On Horse" option appears and it locks both horses side by side. The only way I know how to unblock the thing is by speeding up, but then I just run over someone and the law is called.

Watch Dogs 2 and Mafia 2 are the two game i can think of where the wanted system is a million lightyears ahead better than any R* games ever
