I’ve just started playing gta online and I have to admit I’m struggling.

i don’t mind learning what I need to learn to get going what I’m struggling with is the massive disadvantage all new player suffer.

The game revolves around money, you need money to buy businesses in order to make money, you need money to buy supplies to get those businesses making money, you need money to buy gear/weapons in order to survive while trying to sell your goods to make money and none of this is possible because of all the veterans who either enjoy killing newbies for fun or are just so bored they do it for the hell of it because there isn’t anything left to do.

i even bought the starter pack but it didn’t really help as yes I got a bunker that now tells me I need to spend over 1mill on a truck thing and I have to keep buying supplies as I can’t steal them due to being slaughtered by 1,2 even 3 people on flying bikes.

I got a clubhouse that need me to again buy supplies (for same reason above).

Became a CEO but it doesn’t earn any money until I spend millions on warehouses, hangers and garages.

So I spent what little I managed to earn constantly doing the same missions over and over again on a nightclub thinking well it’s a nightclub it should bring in thousands a day with little needed but no it’s bringing in 5k-10k a day and all the wages for all the businesses are costing me £20k a day(ish) so I’m not making anything.

I can’t even do any promoting of my nightclub without some tossed on a flying bike killing me.

One time I was in a gun shop getting some ammo and suddenly the shop owner pulled a gun out on me, a pop up appeared saying the shop was now closed (which confused me as I thought it was 24hr) and then there’s a bang and I’m dead with a player stood behind me shooting me in the back - I didn’t even know that could happen in the gun shop.

You can’t even go into invite only as people are still in the game messing with it for sh*ts n kicks and in solo session you can’t do anything except a handful of low paying missions.

I’d love for everything to be available in solo session and then when you have enough experience and cash to give you a better survival chance in the “real” world.

Either that or Rockstar need to introduce a more up to date starter pack that gives us a fighting chance of enjoying the game.

There is way to have public session all to yourself. It depends on the platform you are on.

Also you should read a money guide.

I agree though the game is not friendly to new users.

I’m on Xbox one - I tried a way I saw on YouTube basically I started an online game and while it was loading I went to network settings and started a nat type test then went back into the game.

This worked for 20-30 mins then the game crashed.

When I reloaded it was back to normal and then got spawn killed 6 times in a row and just gave it up as a bad job.

I'm on PC so I can't really tell you what went wrong there.

If you get a Terrorbyte you can start client jobs from it, and together with VIP work they can both be run in Invite-Only session.

My recommendation would be to join invites to the old heists. You get a nice bonus for completing each finale the first time, and maybe you'll meet some decent people that way. You should have finished GTA 5 single player though, because a few of the missions are a little challenging.

It's a bad time to be a new player, I'd say. What I can recommend you is to try and get used to making a solo public session for yourself. Eventually you'll get the hang of the NAT test thing. Avoid populated sessions at all costs, and if that's unavoidable, try going to free aim lobbies. There's still people who'll mess up with you there but they're fewer and, at least in my experience, it's considerably easier to land on a peaceful session. Assisted aim lobbies are a cesspool and shouldn't even be seriously considered for anything other than f*cking around or just trolling.

There's a 2x money event going on this week on contact missions, it's a great money making opportunity for new players, and you can do these all by yourself with nobody to screw up your business :D

Persistence is key :) And strategy. Inform yourself, the more you get to know about the game, the better and easier it will be. There's a lot of people here able to help you, and on YouTube you can find reliable sources of information to help out on your journey. GTA Series Videos and The Professional are channels that come to my mind right now but I'm sure there's a lot more.

Welcome to the "Free to play" scheme". Would you like 5 shark cards or 7?

My advice op? Grind out contact missions, there's bonuses on them. Businesses are just a death sentence, especially for newer players. Get yourself in a grind friendly crew, participate, watch each other's back. And I'm gonna warn you, businesses don't give you as much as you think, especially considering the upgrade costs and the waiting. If you're not serious, well there's always money glitches...

Wait until your in a session then do the nat trick.  If your low on $$ do some contact missions this week as they are x2$$. It’s never been easier to make $$ in this game than it is now.

Regrettably with money you dont go anywhere, for more that the money  helps a lot if you dont know well the mechanics or has no friends to play with you will suffer that "bullyng" of the higher levels.

The other day one guy from Argentina ask for help in FB, and me with a friend joined his session to help him (he was level 30).

For our surprise, this guy have the 80% of the buildings (Facilitie, Bunker, etc) the Deluxo and the Oppressor MK II, but he constantly was getting killed. He received the money trough the Bogdan Glitch.

I tell you this because I dont think that the money is the matter, what is important is meet people to play with that will help you to have fun!

While I appreciate that GTA online can be a tough and dispiriting experience for new players, imagine if you could pick up a game that has been fully active for over six years and immediately become competitive. What sort of game would THAT be for those of us who have spent literally thousands of hours fine tuning our characters, collections and tactics?

Imagine if you could buy an old Formula 1 car, do a couple of practice laps and win the 2020 British Grand Prix this year, as easily as that? It's not going to happen. I know it's hard, but thankfully Rockstar got something right, otherwise the game would be totally ruined by casual players dominating the lobbies and causing havoc. Instead, the game behaves exactly the way it should; you're new, inexperienced, have just robbed/obtained your first car and sit on the bottom rung of the GTA online ladder, as we all once did. Now it's time to work your way up.

Well said. The game is a journey, not a destination. You are supposed to start as a low level criminal doing jobs for criminal bosses eventually getting one type of business as you slowly build your own criminal empire.

My best advice is to join a crew on this forum, so you can be a part of friendly community that can help you do missions and other jobs, so you can rank up faster.

Otherwise:

  • Stay away from populated areas to avoid assholes like me.
  • Focus on increasing shooting skill stat to be able to carry more ammo, hence having an easier time depending yourself, doing jobs etc.
  • Spin the lucky wheel everyday to win RP and cash/chips, alternatively win podium vehicle, which is usually a high-end car that can get you around faster and safer.

GTAO has been a 24/7 warzone almost right after its release, so as a new player, you gotta adapt and make yourself some useful skills in order to get by.

I think it's a great time to be a new player. Nobody is forcing you to buy all this expensive stuff, and it's a hell of a lot easier to make money today than it was 5 years ago. Grind some missions and save up like all the rest of us did.

isn't it now buisness activies like stealing supplies or selling goods can be done in invite only session i wonder?

so..anyway, you are late for dinner and you try to eat everything at once..

contact mission are now 2X and also ressurection adv mode, grind them this week, only them. you will atleast have 1 million and half by the end of the event week,

buy then an arcade and start diamond casino heist.. you basically gonna play form the last update.. so u don't miss the fun. and save your cash.

when you have enough money, buy chumach bunker fully upgraded minor security and a nightclub. thats it. and u already have a ceo office so buy yourself a vehicule warehouse, very profitable. there is also vip work to do in invite only session.. and buy a buzzard because u are new..

biker buisness, special cargo, hangar buisness are very very old updates and very frustuating and just bad for money.. unless you are veteran and bored. thats it..

this game is dead, its not fun like mw or mortal combat or rdo.. its frustuating..gets boring quickly, its not social as it seems to be, eveyone is hiding in their  private lobbies, other blowing people up and lots of other lost noobs.

just my humble opinion.. have fun sweetie ❤️

Get glitching or keep bitching. New players have very little hope otherwise

@Fool83, it's important that you read that. Like my post or mention me if you don't like it (you may actually), I'm writing it for you and some other new players too and I'll try to be brief.

There are three ways to succeed in Online: be first, be smart or cheat. I was one of the first, my account dates to the 2nd October of 2013 and I've seen it all from billionaire days on Xbox 360 to the new car that was released this week. Being smart means using every trick without blatant cheating to skew the chances in your favor: public solo sessions, grinding crews, etc, etc. Thing is, being smart in this game is time consuming. I've spent so much time in Online doing repetitive grinding sh*t, that I can't advocate it to anyone, there are better ways of spending your time and the game should not be your job. If it looks like that, change the game.

My advice? Cheat (glitches, dupes, whatever that's not hurting others). Or move to PC to cheat even more and play FiveM/ modded SP, whatever you like. Don't want it? Well, be smart and set some goals and use the guides over these forums how to grind and make money (Bunker, IE, MC, Nightclub, in that order). @Jenkiiii have pointed out that R* have succeeded with something to make V interesting for so long, they have succeeded by making the game addictive. The more you play, the less you're getting irritated with it until you'll reach the peak.

That's probably my most controversial post here, so whoever wants to argue with me don't waste your breath. Talk to the new guy.

I would decide early on whether the grind is worth it for you. If you're willing, there's a lot of possibilities with what you can buy. Most of the stuff probably isn't worth it honestly. But if you love cars, starting a collection could be worthwhile. Or guns, or clothing, whatever it might be.

If the grind isn't worth it for you, the game might actually feel more real. Save up for that small garage and buy a couple cars you love. Play contact missions with some friends you make. There's a lot of joy there too.

It's all about creating the experience you want and blocking out what you don't.

Anybody who thinks new players have trouble making money is a fool. Every week there are double (sometimes triple) money opportunities being handed out. Running CEO/MC businesses is not the only way to make money. Take this event week that started today, double money on contact missions/Resurrection/arena war series. Great opportunities to make cash.

Have to set public session so you are solo, or simply run solo session, then join contact missions. They are double the reward for this week. A lot more money then trying to do any of the businesses.

Load to a public session and nat from there once you are in, everyone else should leave and you will be alone.

As for CEO, grind Headhunter and Sightseer over and over in the Buzzard to get your level up and earn money. Pretty much all I did for the first year. You can do that in Invite Only.

I'm xbox one, if you want help message Shiloh Comes in game. I'm currently helping 2 newbs who are just starting out. Got them a few million each doing Casino heists and they are set up with offices and a warehouse and a Karuma and Krieger in week one.

It's kind of the point TBH. Get mauled and buy cards to become instantly competitive out there. 🤣🤣

That or you gotta be smart and play your game of it, as mentioned by others above. Solo public's, invite only's, maximise bonuses and/or 2x extras, adding up buddies so multiplayer tasks are easier than relying on randoms which it's cool to see a couple are offering on your platform too, that sort of thing.

But if you get over the early hurdles, either way, it'll be plain sailing soon. :)

Like others have said wait until ou are in a session to do it. Usually I can be in that session alone for the whole time I play but sometimes someone will join the session.

If you open the door and shoot into a gun shop the clerk will shoot anyone in the store and it will close for short time like with shops that have just been robbed.

That would be a MOC also known as a mobile duping center. Just ignore that for now unless you want to do money glitches.

Buying supplies is the best way anyway. When you get a vehicle warehouse you can buy supplies for 75k and then source and sell a car for 80k to make that money back and you will have a lot of extra time to do different stuff when you would have been stealing supplies.

My GT on Xbox is Maxx1013. If you need help I like to do the casino heist and I give low levels an 85% cut when it's just the 2 of us.

The biggest advice I have for new players is make friends. People are still buying this game so there are plenty of others in the same boat as you. It's amazing how just one friend can make money grinding much more smoother and efficient.

But yeah as others have said, businesses are not a good idea early game. You're better off making friends and grinding older contact missions and heists. Only when you've established a healthy bankroll should you start going into businesses.

Honestly a lot of the stuff at the end of the grind isn’t even really worth it? its a much better use of your time to just…buy the cars that you think are cool and only log in to play with friends. I’ve bought like a third of the paywalled stuff and it doesn’t really feel like i’m having a better game experience from that stuff, when i use it at all
