PC Release = Hackers = Less Content

Recommended Posts

djb204

Hackers will effectively reduce the amount of content we will receive in the long run. Rockstar will be forced to use its resources to address these issues that commonly arise  on PC. We are already seeing hackers interfering with the Online experience of other players, and this will either hault content production, or at the very least slow down development progress due to resources being focused on these issues. I’m sure we would all prefer more content more regularly, but the affect hackers will have on future content will be evident.

I don't think this will be the case. PC will just be its own wild west for hackers, R* will turn a blind eye and continue making content knowing that majority of the playerbase is on console and isn't affected by them.

And how did you come up with this conclusion? The team they have to develop content, don't go after hacks and patch things.

I think that R* will hand out a sh*t load of bans on PC at some moment and thats that...

it will be as it has been..,

R* will handle it..,

some will find ways around it..,

we'll get people that complain.., people that support..,

those that troll..,

and the occasional ape that will try to use it as away to waste on the PC platform just to up their false sense of platform superiority..,

[PC's and Consoles have their ups and downs.., but there will always be those who will still need to fill their emptiness by wasting on Tue other like kids..,]

R* will find ways to deal with it.., until they get more permanent solutions.., or take a massive hit due to lack of them that work..,

all we can to is to roll with the punches..,

and become immune to those that cheat..,

no better way to break them by making their efforts pointless if it doesn't affect your enjoyment..,

I don't think it slowed content being added to GTA:O, and feel it won't here either.

GTA:O had so much of this stuff happen along the way on old gen and PC and continues to thrive. Hopefully R* do more with these issues in future, but I don't feel it'll hamper them if they only do as much as they did for GTA:O on PC again which would be a shame to see.

maybe if rockstar had a functional anti cheat like almost every other game developer on pc this wouldn't be a problem, but i don't think this is the case, i think the problem is gta online. it will always be the older, bigger and more profitable brother, so red dead will ultimately get less content in favour of gta online

Rockstar themselves decided on P2P with almost zero anti-cheat measures. They made their bed.

With PC as it was/is with consoles, whenever any fixes come, it will be too little, too late.

For example, with GTA V:

Changing passive mode cool down time drastically
Changing suicide queening time drastically
Banning modded-level accounts

It's all too little too late. By the time they get around to "fixing" anything, the damage and pain and suffering and permanent destruction to the online community has already taken too much of a toll.

The fact that there are still level 8000 degenerates on GTA V is inexplicable and unforgivable.

Rockstar online games are like Facebook --- no matter how good the content or ideas are, it's completely f*cking ruined because anybody can use it. Facebook was good when only people from respectable universities had access. Rockstar should limit online play to only the best and brightest. The democratization of online gaming is the problem.

I encourage Rockstar to implement more fascist approaches to securing their galaxy.

You should have to scan your ID (to make sure you're of legal age) and have to take an intelligence and ethics test before being allowed to play a Rockstar game.

Alas, Rockstar online games:
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Sadly there is "morons" among the legal (18+) playerbase too...🙄

Don’t care. It is very rare, in my experience. And I’m pretty sure this goes for the majority of the player base.

Red Dead Online is a mess. They have 2 headed skeletons on PC in Free Roam, hackers draining money. Animals not spawning. Disconnects for tons of players. I wonder what Rockstar is working on/focussing on? Because it ain’t the animals and disconnects.

Modding is cool as long as the online portion isn’t modded. Addressing online modding is the type of thing devs focus all their resources on. In return gamers wait longer for add-ons, patches, etc. Might be one of the reasons RDO isn’t getting fixed in a timely fashion. Maybe they are trying to address some stuff?

They aren't devoting an iota more resources to anticheat than they absolutely have to.

Even less, if that's possible.

Maybe they're trying to make GTA look better.

It's not about platforms or anticheat. The problem is they have so called Cloud Server for GTAO/RDO instead of actual servers. Also there is a hackers on GTAO on PS4 so your statement is wrong.

The primary difference between R* devs and cheaters is the cheaters know how to get their code to actually work.

Two reasons why I didn't get RDR2 on PC despite being a PC gamer.

One: No character transfer from X1/PS4 to PC. (Small complaint, about 4/10)

Two: No way to play solo or private. So, being forced to play with a gratuitous amount of hackers and modders who will annoy and interrupt you. (Major complaint, 10/10, you lost yourself $150 from me)

A crazy world where I would rather play on console than on PC... but that's the future R* has delivered.

Gettin up

Not sure where you happen to run into cheaters so often? I have played over 100 hrs red dead online now and only seen one cheater so far. I play on free roam most of the time.

I've never met any hackers and I have more than 160 hours in rdo on PC. And I know that they are a big problem but they are so rare that no one cares about them. After about 100 hours playing on ps4 I'm just glad that PC version exists(true free aim lobbies oh yea)

^^ They are fairly rare (per se), but I ran into some cheater activity last night--my character's movement starting "stuttering"--something I've seen often with cheaters in GTA Online. Makes the game unplayable.

I quit the game, as I was about ready to call it a night anyway, but it's a reminder that they're still present in some sessions.

The third post in this topic already answered and disproved your theory. The team making content isn't the team dealing with cheaters.

End of. We have other topics already for the conversation about cheaters/hackers in RDO PC.
