I just replayed GTA IV single player for the first time in 10 years. I would love to get some regular multiplayer sessions in if anyone wants to add me on PSN - Themanski90

We made a TLAD session last weekend. Was fun, this dlc was a bit underrated or just wasn't too popular in multiplayer.

The thread's goal is to keep the game alive somehow, host events once a month at least, give a place to those that want to be safe from modders and are still interested in this game. ( PS3 )

Feel free to post any thoughts on the game anyway, even if you don't play anymore

 

The game is almost dead due to modders and paranoid players that think any good players are hackers.

I have always been promoting the game, fighting against cheaters; even list them all and warn innocents from modders.

 

I am an old player who used to be top in the Cops n Crooks leaderboards, (although they didn't mean anything, but means I played a lot) also took part in a lot of events in these forums.

It is still alive, almost everyday getting a solid lobby with 10-12 players.

 

A lot of good games do still happen, thanks to people who are encouraged to organise and message others.

 

GTA IV is the best gta of them all in terms of game physics, driving, game modes (Cops n crooks, turf war, team mafia work) aiming, developed skills, game details, logics, etc... I really hope gta 6 will be a good mix from IV + V, because gtaV was a total failure to me.

Holy sh*t is this real? Ive been trying every now and then for the last 10 years to find a decent multiplayer game but mods f*ck up the whole experience. GTA IV was by far the most fun Ive ever had in a game to date with its game physics for competitiveness online. I remember spending months and months in the helicopter to improve its abilities lol. Add BamTheMan if im allowed to join you guys and I should be online within the next week.

 

I was about to purchase PS5, will it be possible to participate with this or do I need to fire up the old PS3?

Fire up your old PS3 and don't waste money on a PS5. PC or Xbox are better if you want more platforms to play GTA IV on (and if you care about backwards compatibility).

Are PS3, XBOX and PC players in the same games on GTA IV multiplayer or are there different servers for each platform? 

 

Ill stick to PS just because its always been my gaming platform, but thanx for the heads up on backwards compatibility.

No crossplay (only Xbox 360 with the One and new Series)

Hi guys i bought a ps3 for free online and i want to get into gta 4 multiplayer but i have a question. Does the main game and dlc games have different multiplayer? And if so which one should i buy to have the most players in the game IV OR episodes from liberty city. I think i just want to buy one copy (i already finished all the single players on another platform).

They have different multiplayers. Most people are on IV.

So far sadly i did't find any used copies of gta 4 near me. 

But i have a question. On peak times are there enough people that other game lobbys start too not just only free mode?

Free mode is kinda meh for me I am nterested in the team based modes but are they playable at all?

Peak times are weekend afternoons/nights.

Weekdays are weaker but after work hours it can have some life. I am basing this on playing old cods on ps3 nowadays. (Europe)

Little update.. It's been a while, just passing by to say hi and let you know good games do still happen. Peak times are as usual, 22GMT.

 

Weekends are full (sometimes two lobbies are hosted at once) weekdays got a few less active days as tue-wed but you can get games almost daily at the said time.

Those that want to play at an earlier time (europe based mostly) few games may happen in the European afternoon but it's pretty casual.

 

New players come, some of them pick up quick and stick around, others go inactive and some eventually come back. Somehow always manage to get decent rooms.

 

2022 is coming soon, V is closing next month for the ps3 side. So I am guessing IV's activity might increase a bit after that, even.

I finally could play with the team and I have to say it is soo professionally done. This is how you keep up an old dying game multiplayer. They kick the annoying modders and the lobby is mostly full at nights after 9-10 pm Gmt.  Much appreciated. :)
