CharlieW112
Specs: Intel Core i7 6700k 16gb Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz Asus RTX 2060 Advanced 6GB I play GTA at mostly 'very high' settings, but if I crank them any higher, I begin to drop fps. Despite this, while looking at either task manager or Asus' GPU Monitor software, I can see that the GPU is only at about 20% utilization. The CPU is much higher at about 60% utilization, but it's still not being utilized fully either. On top of this, the GPU's fans arent even spinning; that's how under-utilized it is. I have tried doing a complete DDU but still nothing has changed. Any ideas? Airwolf359
checklist: Have you overclocked anything? If yes, have you tried running it at stock settings? Is your graphics card installed in the correct slot? (closest one to CPU) and is your display cable connected to the graphics card and not to the motherboard? What framerates are you getting with this CPU and GPU usage? Could you post a list or screenshot of your Graphics and Advanced Graphics settings? GPU usage depends on your settings. GTA V isn't particularly GPU heavy compared to some other recent games, but it does have trouble reaching high framerates due to poor multithreading, it is pretty much single thread limited on most high-end CPUs. 60% CPU usage on an i7 means the game is probably running at its cpu limit (it won't use more than 30% of my R5 1600) I have almost everything on Very High/Ultra (Grass on High), 2x msaa, all advanced options off (especially extended distance scaling), on a 980ti @1920x1080 and it runs at steady 100% usage and mostly over 60fps. (980ti is very close in performance to a RTX2060) Edited January 6, 2020 by AirWolf359 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/943246-gta-v-low-gpu-usage/#findComment-1071037445 Share on other sites
