Commander S
So, I normally hate trying to take photos of legendary predators, because there's a window of maybe two seconds between sighting the damn things, and getting mauled to death - never mind trying to snap a pic of one for the compendium. And for Harriet's legendary herbivore missions, you can't do the standard 'sedate, sample, revive, snap' strat, because the mission ends as soon as you take the sample - so you have to make sure to take a pic ASAP when the sighting cutscene ends (made a lot harder if the darn thing immediately starts to run away). Fortunately, some things stick around, meaning there's no rush to snap them, and chase after them and sample them before they escape. The Rutile Horn Ram was a perfect example last night: cutscene ended, didn't run off, no prompt to 'catch up before it escapes', etc. - simple enough to take a pic while it runs around in the same fixed spot. It's even coming closer, which makes things easier - wait, what... (cue the music!) ... Rev. Gnash, Sundevil, Direwrath and 3 others 3

US Marshal1911
I was riding down from Little Creek River to Wallace station and on one of the sharp turns, my horse proceeded to twist around on a rock and launch me about 500 feet in the air and left me to meet my demise. It was definitely a WTF moment, one of many. kcole4001, DentureDynamite and Rev. Gnash

For predators and those that run away, I just simple sedate the animal, get my camera out and just wait for it wake up and quickly take the photo and then sedate the animal again to take the sample to end the mission, screw running around after them for a photo and then possibly losing them by the time the camera is put away! Sometimes you may need to climb onto something in the area for some predators, but it’s one of the ways I’ve found to easily get the photograph checked off for the field guide. DentureDynamite
^^ Perfect evidence! And there are places your horse puts up a fight to go through (some dependant on speed)--such as either side of the wagon at Emerald Ranch (right near the Fence). It sits in between a fence, with adequate gaps on either side which you should be able to ride through, but my horse fights me to go through there. Fix your bloomin' code, R*! I'd like to know why the horses keep running off for no reason and why they insist on moving away or doing circles when trying to get on them. This was something added along the way because it wasn't like that at the beginning. I don't know what they're doing to the horses but they are getting really bad. I'm seriously getting to the point where I'd rather walk, ride the train and fast travel than to use the horse. Just call the horse if I need to change weapons then flee it again. Won't need to feed it either. Edited September 22, 2020 by StyxTx DentureDynamite and Assblaster
DentureDynamite
^^ I've noticed that too; if you whistle for your horse with just a gun in your hand, he'll come right next to you. But if you whistle for your horse when you've killed an animal, or just skinned it, he'll stop about 20 feet away from you. And you still can't whistle for your horse while skinning an animal; you have to wait until the animation is done (and that's another topic completely). NOT a coincidence in my book. I've found this true especially when you're trying to escape from the law; I frequently have to chase after my own freaking horse... and often don't make it. Cute, R*. Conveniently trying to slow me down and get me killed. Edited September 22, 2020 by DentureDynamite StyxTx and kcole4001

A little consistency would be nice R*. Better yet, just give us 100% control over our horses and stop messing with them. This all started long ago when people were complaing about their horses running into things. First, if they slow down it's less likely to do so but, secondly, R* has the autopilot set up now so the horse may automatically dodge one thing only to run into something else. It's really stupid. DentureDynamite
If you've ever wondered where mail men go after you've given them the bag of mail... well, they hang out at deserted, abandoned saloons, expecting spirits from the bartender... spirit. ...at least the mail man at Emerald Ranch does. lol (A nice idea R*, but you forgot that the saloon at Emerald Ranch is abandoned) Edited September 23, 2020 by DentureDynamite StyxTx, Direwrath, Rev. DentureDynamite
No idea what this is, but last night after fighting with the law on the northeast hill side of Valentine, I was looking down at the town through my Rolling Block scope trying to find some NPCs to snipe. There was a horse standing near the Sheriff's office, and when I moved the scope over its butt, the word "Rob" appears with its mouse key indicator (below). Is there something obvious I'm missing as to what this is supposed to be? (don't ask me to explain it! lol) Edit: Yup; it's simply the name of a player's horse--didn't know their names showed up while in scope mode (until now). lol Edited October 26, 2020 by DentureDynamite Direwrath, Non Funkable Token and hugh750

Pick up a squirrel, put in it your satchel, run to your horse...and wait 2-3 seconds before you can mount the horse. I don't know how long the average play session lasts, but over the course of a couple of hours consider, if every action has built in delay, how much of that time is wasted every day by every player. That adds up to much longer time spent in game, which not only slows down the rate of earning money and gold, but is reportable to the shareholders each quarter. It's pretty sly in business terms, but not good gameplay. DentureDynamite and Non Funkable Token

I've noticed it every time I accomplish anything regardless of how small that accomplishment is. There is that short delay to get control of the character. But I have had times where I'll whistle for the horse and it just stands there so I keep whistling another 5 or 6 times before it reacts. That has nothing to do with any autosave for sure.
