What would next gen consoles improve in an RDR2 port?

So we all know next Gen is imminent. I have yet to decide whether to buy Ps5 or Xbox Series X(I think that's what they finally named it). With that a port to next gen for RDR2 is inevitable  - but what do you think the actual, tangible differences would be from current gen(lets say X1X and Ps4pro rather than base consoles).

 

I was going to play on PC but I don't think I can be bothered given all the bad feedback - but want to do another playthrough and wonder whether I wait for next gen or play on my X1X..

I will buy a PS5 and the reason is that I have too many games on that ecosystem to abandon it. The PS5 need to suck a lot for me to make the next gen Xbox my primary console. Anyway, I think the difference with the next gen RDR2 will be primarily cosmetic with even more weapons and clothes, less erratic fps compared to todays base-consoles. Sadly I do not think the fps will be higher than todays 30, but I can be wrong as I am not sure if they will force 4k or let 1080p and increased fps be an option.

I played about half of RDR2 on my PS4pro first, but was not at all happy with FPS drops even though I was enjoying the game immensely. So I bought an X1X and it was much better for me. However I'm not sure there will be as much disparity between the both next time, since the Pro was really just a mid-gen upgrade.

 

I'm not really loyal to one or the other, although I'm torn whether to wait for PS5 to play TLOU2 or just do it in March or whenever it comes out.

I play RDR2 on the PS4-PRO but forces the console to play it in 1080p, in that way the FPS stays at 30 at all times. The fake 4K on the PRO is not looking good nor does it keep the FPS at 30. So the XoneX is definitely the way to go if one needs or wants to play in 4K with a somewhat close to locked 30 FPS. I agree with you regarding loyalty as I actually cannot understand people that hysterically  stick with one company or brand over another. My only reason to probably stick with the PlayStation for the next gen no matter if the Xbox is a little better, is because of the mentioned huge library of games I have on the PlayStation ecosystem. 
 

I hope the next gen will be less one sided in sales than this gen as competition makes happy customers and I hope one day all fanboys will see this too. 
 

I agree with you so much in regards to the TLOU2, I am not sure I want to “waste” the experience playing it in March when I am certain it will be a much better experience on the PS5. It will be difficult to avoid being spoiled while waiting for the PS5  I am truly worried about that since TLOU is such a story driven game/experience.

The closer Console hardware gets to PC hardware the "better" ports will be.

 

That said the ecosystem will likely be the reason next gen consoles will still lag with proprietary OS's.

Hopefully the long install times are greatly reduced.  I already have it on PS4 and Xbox One.  Will likely pick it up for PC in the next 12 months too.  Not sure I would dip again unless there was more singleplayer content added to justify the purchase.  Add Mexico to the map and I'll buy two copies!

Well, I guess we could hope for some Mexico  The game is already pretty great in terms of map size considering they chose to keep New Austin and West Elizabeth, including expanding the territory to the North. Perhaps adding Mexico at the original release would have been deemed too beefy for current gen consoles, meaning they could have considered featuring a narrative taking place in Mexico during early game development, but chose to keep it out and stick to the U.S.

 

With the next-gen consoles consisting of improved and optimized hardware, remastering Mexico to RDR2's textures and graphics (perhaps expanding further) probably isn't a bigger hassle than what they did to New Austin and West Elizabeth. Perhaps a future DLC could feature a narrative taking place in Mexico before the tragedy in Blackwater, where a protagonist with relations to both Mexico and the U.S. goes around his daily business. I donnu, smuggling sh*t, matando bandidos or getting wind up into some domestic political sh*t.

Do you guys honestly think they’ll bother re-releasing RDR2 on PS5? I’m not too sure. PS5 is rumoured to be fully backwards compatible so I think an graphical enhancement in the form of an update could be most likely, imo. 
 

Then again, this is Rockstar Games and they sure do love their MUNEH.

I am certain that R* will release the RDR2 on every platform imaginable. So a RDR2 on PS5 and the next Xbox is a given.

They did with GTAV and that was only for Pro. I'm sure they will try to milk it. Whether that is worth another buy is another matter, but suckers like me woukd probably get it  i think I've paid for GTAV 3 or 4 times now!
