erorcun 285
LCS Snowfall Port Hey! Here is a christmas gift for GTAForums! Me and many people always wanted to see LCS PSP snow in other GTA games, and after @Noskillx asked me if I would do it, I decided to port it. So, here we are. Although since snowy weather isn't included in weather cycle even on PSP, I had to add some option to bind the snow-fall effect to some weather type or a key. You can find the all possible options in LCSSnow.ini. By default you can switch between snow modes via F8, but you can change that from there. I will simply put the whole INI file here, since it already has all the informations I would give here. Spoiler ; You can bind the snow fall to any weather you like. ; To enable, uncomment it (remove the semicolon) and set it to i.e. 2 (rainy in III/VC), 5 (hurricane in VC), 8 (rainy in SA) or 16 (hurricane in SA). ; You can search for other weather id's on GTAForums, GTAModding etc. ; BindToWeather= RandomlySwitchRainWithSnow=false ; Snow density scales according to that. 400 on PSP, but you may find it not enough. MaxSnowFlakes=800 ; Virtual Key ID. Gives you the ability to cycle through snow speeds anytime you want as follows: Snow fall Off, Low, Medium, High. 0x77 is F8. ModeSelectKey=0x77 Screenshots SA https://streamable.com/rdszt III Spoiler VC Spoiler Download The .asi and .ini files should lie in the same directory. You can use any ASI/DLL loader you want, or just don't use one and put it to root folder, in-game ASI loader will handle it. r2 Only for III/VC/SA 1.0 EXEs. Changelog: SA support! Rain fixed A XP bug is fixed (this is last time I fixed something on XP) https://github.com/erorcun/LCSSnow/releases/tag/r2 Old releases: Spoiler r1 Only for III/VC 1.0 exes at the moment. (so also works on Re:LCS) https://github.com/erorcun/LCSSnow/releases/tag/r1 Source code https://github.com/erorcun/LCSSnow Thanks to @Noskillx for testing. Would you like to send me a christmas gift too? You may consider donating now via one of the options below Spoiler Bitcoin: 12AKwTpm1NvcBEYw3vUSmeU3JHWFYWoZHm If you're in EU and want to make SEPA transfer, you can get in touch with me. Staunton Assassin 2,545
@erorcun: Perfect! You just made my year, my friend. EDIT: Okay, for some reason, the snow is not appearing on my end. Everything else is working properly but there isn't any snow in any weather and the rain seems to be missing from weather type 2. I'd like to have this bug fixed. Edited February 9, 2020 by The Eddo
Dominik_ 661
@The EddoDid you assigned the snow fall to a weather type you'd like in the ini file? do keep in mind LCS PC uses VC weather id's but the weathers under these id's are different then in stock VC. And im pretty sure this works just fine. Edited December 30, 2019 by Noskillx

Either you set INI wrong or you have some mod conflicts with it. Snow flake texture is smokeII_3 in particle.txd (No I won't change that, this is how it is in LCS), you may want to check it out.

I literally uninstalled all of the modifications I had on my copy of VC and then tested your modification. Surprisingly, it still didn't work. The configurable key used for controlling the snowfall speed seems to be the only thing that is actually working on my end.

I can look at the issue if there will be multiple reports about it.

Staunton Assassin 2,545
@erorcun: Considering you have ported the snowy weather from LCS PSP, are you going to port the rubbish particles and the clouds from III/VC/LCS/VCS to SA?

UnitedMel 148
[GTA 3] Snowfall somehow turns off the rain in rainy weather. I tried bind snowfall to foggy weather (id 3 I suppose) and it's working like it should. But rain is not appearing at all in weather id 2. It's like thunder rattle all around, lights the world map and stuff but rain is missing. F8 button works too. Edited January 3, 2020 by UnitedMel
TWIST_OF_HATE 371
I hope that next GTA game will finally have a proper snow weather with great details, similar like it was in Mafia II, and even better

If you don't know how to take it; Spoiler Firstly search for "DirectX PIX" and download the x86 or x64 one according to your system. It will take a "3D screenshot" so I can see what's going on in that frame. Click File > New Experiment, navigate to GTA folder and select the exe. Then tick 'A single frame capture whenever F12 is pressed' and press 'Start experiment'. When game launched, wait for the game time to be between 45th and 0th minutes (because snow density will be its peak), then press F8, make sure that help box appeared, then press F12. Close the game and attempt to close the PIX, it should ask you what it should do with that frame, save it to somewhere and send it to me.

This is simply not true, old PIX works on everything. Don't try to install a new PIX as it doesn't even support DX9.
