Nicksanford12
Hey guys been a huge read dead fan for a while since the first was released... was just curious to know if they’ve fixed the horse spawn out of saint denis.. I’ve been seeing videos saying that if you make a save point there you can’t get the tiger striped mustang, black Ariabian or that warhorse that starts with almost max health.. any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy hunting!!

Dan_1983
Either the Arabian in the snow near Lake Isabella or you can through a glitch get a Missouri Fox Trotter near Moonstone Pond. Ironside
Ironside
There is also the chestnut-arabian near lake Owanjila. It is a tad less good than the white-arabian but I use it as I think it looks cooler. UpTheDowngrade and Taterman

Buddy Hightower
I guess I'm spoiled.. I have played the story 3 times, and the ONLY horse I have ever owned is the free pre-order war horse. Never had a need for any other horse.

If you tried the Missouri Fox Trotter, any kind of the Turkoman or any of the Arabians, you would see what you have missed. You are of course entitled to your opinion and I am really not aiming to take that away from you nor say that it is wrong to prefer an inferior horse because of any reason. Personally I know that the White Arabian is better than the Chestnut Arabian, I still prefer the latter because it looks way cooler. All this said, I would still recommend you to try a better horse for your next play through and the mentioned Arabians are just as free as your warhorse. Buddy Hightower
I have tried them all, and I prefer the pre-order war horse overall of them in story-mode. Online I use the level 20 Bounty Hunter Breton. IMO they are very similar.

All well then, but I am sure you can see how your first post in this topic can and will give people the impression that “only” actually means only. So naturally I interpreted it in the manner it was said and believed that you never had owned any other of the horses. So in the end, good for you that you like the pre order horse! I personally think it is garbage and that there is a wide variety of different style of horses in the story mode that actually are not at all similar in stats nor behavior. Cymro-MJ
As cool as the Chestnut Arabian looks, it’s ridiculously small and doesn’t suit Arthur’s character, imo. Chocolate Roan Dutch Warmblood is probably my favourite horse in the game, although I do find it hard to justify spending an obscene amount so early on in Chapter 2 when the gang are struggling for money. You don't need to bankroll the camo funds early or at least don't feel guilty about not doing so. If you hunt early a lot, the camp don't go hungry. I sell the gold bar at Limpany to get me the funds to buy the DWB. Any other valuables I find or loot go into camp funds as well as regular money donations. Plus I've done both Jack Hall and High Stakes treasure maps early, so my camp is well funded at over $2,000 lol. Ironside and Taterman

Taterman
I spent about 1 and a half game days looking for the white arabian yesterday and it just wouldn't spawn. I was in the exact area I've seen in several videos about it and no luck. Anyone have an idea? I'm in chapter 3 so it should be available.

Make your way to Lake Isabella. When you arrive on the southern side of Lake Isabella leave your horse and go on foot. Then work your way up that left side. Anytime you come upon a bank of snow or a hill that you can't see over, move slowly. The horse could literally be right on the other side and you may be frightening it away. Also I remember in an earlier play through having trouble getting it to spawn until I eliminated the legendary bison. Also you may be able to try potent herbivore bait. I was in the area of Cairn Lake hunting a perfect moose to be brought to the trapper. When I would drop the potent herbivore bait it seem to also spawn a horse, although it was only a Kentucky Saddler. So I'm assuming this will work with that horse as well. I was also able to find (on PS4) the Warped brendel very easily. It was slightly to the left and north of Wapiti. Middle Class Roadman
Man as soon as I saw this thread I knew there would be a ton of replies about the Arabian up by Lake Isobella. That horse has gotta be the single most overrated thing in the entire game. Not to mention how silly it looks having someone as big as Arthur riding around on it. If you want a proper horse go get a THOROUGHBREAD from The Heartlands. As far as I'm concerned they're the only horse in the game that suits Arthur. They've got a great size/build to them and they're fast as hell - overall in terms of looks and statistics they are the best horse in the game. Dan_1983
Speed don't really matter in a horse. A user on youtube did a comparison and the fastest horse in the game arrives only at a destination a few seconds faster than the slowest. If you are bothered by a few seconds, get the Arabian lol. I prefer a horse that don't buck me off every time I get ambushed or if a predator is near by. Deadman2112
@Dark Rosewood Varnish and @Dan_1983 I don't necessarily disagree with either of your assessments of the horse but based on stats alone it is one of the best horses in the game. However it does have a higher tendency to Buck during stressful situations and it does look rather funny with someone the size of Arthur sitting on its back. I absolutely agree with Dan when he said that speed is not necessarily the most important thing as far as I'm concerned speed is useless if you don't have stamina to maintain that speed. But equally as important as stamina is the horses acceleration IMO Edited January 10, 2020 by Deadman2112 Ironside and Taterman

I'll try again tonight since I got the white bison yesterday. I'm gonna have to look into getting a thoroughbred from the heartlands too. Do those have to be found and tamed the same way or can they be bought?
LeonVegaSuarez
If you get a relatively high bounty and bounty hunters come after you, they often have very nice horses. If you see one riding a Turkoman, try to steal and stable it. Buddy Hightower, Taterman and Ironside

As I recall they ride Mustangs, Thoroughbreds, Hungarian Half-Breeds, Dutch Warmbloods and Ardenneses.
