Is GTA Online Still Fun?

No its not fun for me any more but I still play out of habit/collectors addiction.

R seems to never learn from anything. They always cross the line between grind/fun. They just dont make good fun content any more and havent in years.

please stop me

I only come back for updates these days, and maybe I'll stay for longer if cool cars are added (classics/muscles/racing/tuners). I mostly find myself playing forza and need for speed more than gta now tbh

Took a break a couple of months, I don't play with the acc I achieved platinum with.

Started from scratch doing the casino and nightclub sh*t but already feel it'll come to an end soon.

Killing oppressor bitches all the time. These auto aim losers with invisible ankles and bigness face masks.

Gee, that invisible sh*t was only cool when ppl made the whole body except for the head invisible.

I barely play the game since may last year, but recently i've picked it up again, since i can't find a good open world racing game like test drive unlimited where we can buy mansions etc etc and the world so alive like GTA

The sad thing is that there are no hanging spot for car meets, would be great if we can host a meet with other players and some NPC to lighten up the parteeh, make it like a contest or anything themed like the mirror park meet, where we compete for the cleanest sleeper and some drag race around the area, the groove street meet with the sound of los santos classic rap and lowrider contest like in SA, The la mesa meet, burnout contest and drag racing muscle class, and so on, instead of this boring open wheel racer, such a waste of potential imo..

This thread is kinda making me sad. I think GTAO is really fun. It's not perfect (far from it) but it's still a well-designed and entertaining experience. There's a huge variety of weapons and vehicles, all of which have their strengths and weaknesses. The Casino Heist is fantastic, especially with friends or when you challenge yourself by trying to complete it without doing all the prep missions.

No it is not. I enjoyed it for years but recently when loading up I thought to myself “why am I doing this”? I exited my office and stood on the roof and realized I just can’t do it any longer. So I closed application and went outside for real.

Have tried a couple times since then but that feeling comes back. Game is dead to me.

Sucks but so is life.

I mean, most missions are deliberately crafted to be as unfun and tedious as possible to the point of making you say "f*ck this" and buy a Shark Card instead.

It would be kind of impressive if it weren't for the fact that R* didn't even came with that concept, mobile Free to Play games did it way before.

I'm investing all my gaming time in RDR-online... Haven't really looked back in three months now.. Logged in this week and will do next week for the free money, but I can't stomach playing GTA for the time being...

I tried buying into the Casino heist stuff back in December, but I can't even unlock the stuff by scouting the casino...I just don't feel like it...

It'll come back, but seeing I reinstalled FH4 too on my new PC, I have a feeling it'll still be awhile…

What GTA online needs, is a bigger map... WAY bigger… It simply has grown too small for all the aerial madness going on... I wouldn't mind exploring new grounds.. That would bring me back...

Don't see that happening though…

Ugh, RDO is even worse. I got pulled in for a bit when the first roles dropped. After a month or so I thought WTF am I doing while gathering my tenth full collection.

I hate every mode in that game but running around the map was great and I had fun with my friends. In typical fashion my satchel glitched out and I couldn’t complete the tenth collection. Sold what I had and uninstalled the game....again.

If they ever make transfers to PC possible I will do it in the hopes the game becomes something other than a grind fest.

This game, just like life, it's what you make it.

And yes, while this game is filled to the brim with anti-fun features, I think the secret to actually have fun on this game is to make your own instead of trying to do what R* determines as fun.

I mean, sure, grinding or fighting other players can be fun in the right circunstances and if you enjoy that, more power to you, but sometimes, you do everything the game tells you it has to offer and then you figure out that the game is shallow as f*ck and then you lose interest and either one of the following happens:

- You drop the game.

- You become a boring griefer in order to get stimuli from being a dick

- You say "f*ck that, I'll make my own fun"

That's when you find out that riding a bike is fun, climbing up Chiliad in an offroad truck is fun, impromptu car meets are fun, helping other players is fun, snorkeling in the ocean is fun and many more...

And that's just the surface level, maybe you start trying to make decent outfits and a truly unique look and backstory for your character, maybe you dabble in either the R* Editor, the R* Creator or both, maybe you start taking pics or making vids and machinimas, maybe you join a forum, a subreddit, start a Twitter or YouTube account to showcase the silly adventures of your character from time to time, the fun trascending the game itself...

And then, you finally realize, that the best moments you had ingame weren't when you earned your 100th million or your K/D became +1.50, but when you were f*cking around with your friends with snowballs.

So yeah, as long as you ignore the game's dumb, restrictive and hostile concept of what's "fun", then yeah, you can actually have fun on this game.

I always have my heist ready waiting for friends to come online if I'm on before them.., so we can hit it for what it's worth..,

something people that submit to the dread of the game dont get..,

but I sure do hope they do one day and join the rest of us..,

Define ‘fun’

Fun (stylized fun.) is an American pop rock band based in New York City. The band was formed by Nate Ruess (former lead singer of The Format), Andrew Dost (formerly of Anathallo), and Jack Antonoff (of Steel Train and Bleachers). To date, Fun has released two albums: Aim and Ignite in August 2009 and Some Nights in February 2012.

The band is best known for three hit singles from Some Nights: Grammy Award-winning "We Are Young" featuring Janelle Monáe, "Some Nights", and "Carry On". "We Are Young" reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Digital Songs charts. It also peaked at number one in the United Kingdom. "Some Nights" was released as the album's second single in June 2012, peaking at number three on the Hot 100 chart and becoming Fun's second Top 10 single, as well as the band's second song to reach platinum status in the United States.

1) Playing GTA online with friends is fun.

2) Playing GTA:O with random players in 95% cases is a nightmare.

3) And if you want to earn anything at all from businesses you own then it's better to do business sale missions in solo public session.

4) Another thing, which is not fun for me in GTA:O, is a fact that most of the stuff, which pays good, can be done only in a public session. Not to mention vehicle prices. It makes me feel like GTA:O is rather my second job than a game.

But that's just me.

Came here to say exactly this. Killing griefers is hilarious but gets old and most people just want to do heists rather than invest time in other dimensions of the game such as racing or PVE like Survival and contact missions. When you have to grind so much the fun factor is greatly reduced.

Sometimes it does.

I mean, there's only a finite ammount of times that you can see a griefer either going on a EWO loop, trying to Passive pop or frantically going to his crutchbike or jet until it eventually gets boring.

Absolutely. I want to enjoy more spaces and explore something new and a lot of people want the same too.

That's exactly when the game becomes unfun.

I'm pretty close to this amount of cash and the game is not worse, than it was with 1/4 of that. Hell, with cash this game becomes easier, much easier.

I purposely put myself in bad sport for a long time because I did like it, I fly jets and love dogfighting so bad sport was the place to be. Then god mode jet came about and I haven't had fun in months. So I started doing jet death matches because of the god mode jet and got addicted to that, now people are joining my death matches in god mode, you can destroy the jet but no kill it just ruins everything.

El Diablo 702

The fun in this game is subjective, it is what you make of it.  a lot of the missions/businesses are fun to the point of just being a grind after a while, MC businesses w/ the sh*t delivery vehicles gets frustrating after a while,  you can only source and sell so many crates/cars before it’s just repetitive grinding.  Changing it up helps but then it’s just becomes whatever is x2$$ or afk while waiting for the bunker/nightclub to fill.  With the random free roam events locked to player count or disabled it’s either grind or pvp.  But is it fun? It is what you make of it.

The only games I have installed in my pc are GTA5 and RDR2, play both online, even solo I enjoy a lot, and if R* comes with the medieval one I will play too, so yes, you can call me fanboy, but this company knows how to make beautiful fun detailed games that worth the time spent.

edit: It would be way more fun if they rework player blips.

Once Bannerlord gets released I uninstall GTA I think, or will play it every 6months.
