Guest
Don't know much about this stuff but I guess Chinatown wars and Advance suffered from this particularly. Fitting Liberty City in the DS is no mean feat and having a GTA in a gameboy advance is an achievement in itself. So both may have suffered to reach their potential due to the limitations of these consoles.
god speed
GTA 1 and GTA 2 on Game Boy Color, the weakest platform for a GTA game. As for the main games, GTA V was released on an 8-year-old home console. Rockstar still managed to make the game look phenomenal on old-gen consoles, but unfortunately at the expense of world physics and such details. Honestly for the longest time I thought limitations were the reason why Rockstar didn't do many of the things they did, until I was shown by modders who understand how files, compiling/recompiling, scripts, and ect works and saw that it wasn't limitations at all and that everything we practically wanted could be done. The REAL reason why is either because the Online was poorly optimize until next gen when they had to fix it or because they saw no use for it and wanted to cut around. ALSO everything we have in GTA online could very much be added into Last Gen but was already poorly optimized and took up WAY too much storage than it really should have. Apparently when it was being developed the PS3 was very difficult to work with as at that time the only experience R* had with 7th gen consoles was the table tennis game on the Xbox 360. I agree that pretty much every GTA has had to face limitations of some extent. I guess R*'s ambition is a bit like a double edged sword that they have a particular vision in mind, but always seems to be a bit ahead of what the hardware can handle so they have to come up with compromises.
