lost my online character???

So basically after the rockstar games launcher came (i think) i haven't been able to play on my previous character which i have put a lot of hours in. So basically when i go to gta online it spawned to the jail and i had to make a new character. This actually happened to my friend too so i'm thinking like is this some kind of a bug or what? When i press ALT i see the face of my previous online character still. And if i go to LSC for example i can modify my car and i have all the options unlocked there to modify even tho my new character is like level 3. My previous character was high level tho and i had all the options to modify a car in LSC. But i have now lost all my companies, progress, cars, houses, guns and everything so is there any chance to get my previous character back?

Best bet is to go to https://support.rockstargames.com/ and fill out a Gameplay Progress report mentioning what you've put here.
