Why can't we use weaponised vehicles in passive mode?

Seriously, some of the funnest moments with randoms it to drive up to them in my Vigilante or Scramjet whilst in passive mode and they get in and we mess around for a while breaking cars into pieces or accumulate stars. Particularly with lower levels who've never experienced such beastly vehicles.

It's rather annoying that the moment you get into a weaponised vehicle, passive mode is deactivated. You used to be able to for the longest time.

Glad they changed it. Passive mode in weaponized vehicles should have never been made available.

To stop idiots exploiting it cheaply.

if anything is exploitable cheaply in this game then everyone and their dog will do it.

You can race an entire race clean avoiding hitting other people but trust me as soon as they have the chance they’re smacking you and their mate will help them.

I was still Passive in a Deluxo I was selling yesterday. I was trippin too cuz i was worried it might get blown up en route to LSC, but then I checked the menu and Disable Passive Mode was still lit up

Maybe it was because I didn't buy weapons for it?

Yes, it only counts as weaponized vehicle if you have installed the weapons. Without them it is just a regular hovercar.

Because of people abusing a tactic called Passive Popping for unfair and cheap kills.    It was abused most by jets but I imagine worked in any weaponized vehicle.

i think its stupid. because i use the mark 2 mostly for transport. and i have gotten shot at by other oppressors and weaponized vehicles. because they assume im hostile.

Because when you're in a weaponized vehicle, it's assumed that you're expecting confrontation of any kind, and since you can kill players with it, then they should be able to kill you back.

More over, if you remove the weapons of your vehicle, it should have it's passive mode back.

At least that's how it happens with the Deluxo and Thruster.

Because too many morons used passive mode in weaponized vehicles to troll, killing folks and getting in and out of it. And because of that too many clowns whined about it endlessly on here and on Rockstar Support so they got rid of it for those vehicles. So the civilized folks who like to drive weaponized vehicles without being assholes have to suffer. 🤷‍♂️ Tough sh*t I guess. Someone always has to ruin it for everyone... Some folks gonna act like get over it, they're morons but I have. I just drive those cars (Ardent, etc) in Invite Only Mode so I don't get blown up by stupid randoms because I'm forced to be unprotected because "waaa u shouldnt have that feature in weaponized cars i suck at the game waaa!!!" Has the trolling died down because of it? Absolutely not. So it solved nothing. f*cking clowns.

Passive Popping have nothing to do with skill, that's the problem.    You come up behind someone in passive, exit passive, blast them and go passive again soon as the game lets you.     It's as much of bullsh*t tactic as Easy Way Out spam.     A person doing this only had a 1 minute cooldown, by the time you respawned, got to a vehicle and even tried to track the guy down he was already back in passive mode.

It's a constant broken cycle of cheap kill, run away, go ghost again.      It was no better then people who EWO'd any time they got hit once and their health dropped any bit at all.     Broken mechanics should be fixed, and while it's good Rockstar tried to do something about these issues eventually, it's ridiculous it took them 6 years.    All this we have now should of already implemented in the first couple of years back when the game was still on PS3.

It could've been implemented better. There are many vehicles where you don't have a choice removing the weapons. Ardent for one example. There should be an option "are you going to use the miniguns in this vehicle" if yes then force off passive mode. The fact that they increased the cooldown to 5 minutes alone was helpful enough. The disabling it for all weaponized vehicles was just extra and could've been done better.

Nobody goes around in an Ardent shooting people up then going passive then out of it to blow more players up. That's some Oppressor, Nightshark, etc sh*t. Believe it or not, an Ardent or some other weaponized cars are just another car in one's collection that they want to take for a spin and relax just like all their other cars. I went through the effort of rc 2 car merge to get custom interior on my Ardent for the perfect British style Lotus Espirit. But if I want to relax and drive it I have to go to a solo session.

It is a big deal because you know as well as I do that you can't mind your business in anything or just walking without someone eventually blowing you up or shooting you up for no reason. I have to deal with that crap in a harmless car because there are morons in Opressors who liked to abuse passive mode and regardless of its changes still wreak havoc on sessions to this day? Bullsh*t. It's dumb as hell and it would not take a rocket scientist to have implemented this better rather than going some kindergarden teacher "oh wellp one of yall ruined it for all of us so tough luck" route.

They should let you use weaponized vehicles in passive, but not be able to use weapons for 10-30 seconds after leaving passive.

I didn't realise this and now I have a new freeroam ride on the roster, plus I guarantee it will trigger cretins into reporting me.

The way to fix this issue would be to allow removal of the guns from the Ardent.

Not being able to use passive mode in weaponized vehicles is right and good.

I agree and am glad they changed it but when I'm in a public sessions sometimes I get bored and want to fly around in my Hydra but as soon as I get it I usually have people coming after me and passive was great for dealing with them. I also use to like grabbing my Hydra and chasing after jet pu**ies and passive popping until they EWO and then when they were on the ground I would abuse off the rader, ghost org and passive to make them constantly kill themselves and when I was bored of that I would get my Deluxo or MK2 and go into passive to see the sticky bomb on the ground. I would never fire a single bullet I would just wait until they killed themselves over and over again. I could usually do it for 10+ minutes until those KDR losers would finally leave the session.

You can still do this with a non-weaponized Deluxo and instead of a Hydra you could use a Besra, which has the same map icon.

I think it should have been-

Vehicle with fireable explosives: passive not allowed

Vehicle with pea shooters/mines only: passive allowed

But honestly ot doesnt matter much to me, I rarely go passive ans rarely use weaponized vehicles.

This is the real answer.

IMO, we should be able to remove weapons from all weaponized vehicles. And yes, even jets:

Very unlikely at this point of the game, but it would the ideal solution.

Actually, you should be able to use weapons in passive, but not be able to use the weapons on players. For example, the moment you place your reticle on a player, it grays out and you are unable to shoot; if you shoot an RPG at a player, the explosion will do nothing to them.

You climb into a weaponized vehicle and want to be in passive mode? Why the hell are you in that vehicle in the first place? Go to an invite only session.

Because many weaponized vehicles are quite practical for simply getting from Point A to Point B. They're fast and agile.

Yup. And that'll never happen. These morons never think sh*t through, makes me wonder how they even got a job as developers. The application process probably asked for "problem-solvers with critical thinking" and they got anything but.

Read some of the responses above and you'll get your answer.

If people got rid of their biased preconceived notions and actually listened to all perspectives for a change, then this wouldn't end up being such a hot issue in the first place.

If you use them for that reason why would you need weapons?

If you are so bothered about being killed in a video game surely the weapon and ability to kill sacrifice would be worth it??

Passive mode in a tank huh? Why are you in a tank??? We trying to have a parade or something? I feel like I'm talking to kids who can't face the consequences of their actions. You had the balls to climb into an armored truck with a mounted .50 cal but you don't want to be killed? What are we talking about here?

Who hurt you?

I also use weaponized vehicles for that purpose; for example the Pyro quite frequently. But it's almost impossible to get killed in a Pyro except when looking for a fight.
