Will GTA VI be delayed like GTA V?

After GTA V was announced for March-May 2013 initially, it was later delayed to September 2013. Do ya'll think that'll inevitably happen to GTA VI? I'm not keeping my hopes up that it'll actually release on the first date that they announce.

I think VI might be the only modern era game that won’t be delayed. They (Rockstar) are being meticulous with VI and GTAO and RDO are keeping the investors and stock holders over at Take2 well satiated. There is absolutely no pressure on Rockstar to have a deadline on GTA VI..however if RDO doesn’t succeed in the same draw GTAO had (which I don’t think it will) VI will become priority and a deadline will be pushed.

It will get delayed at least once imo. GTA VI will likely be R* first title for next gen so they will want to have more time to polish the game and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Looks like you forgot to mention that they delayed V PC for three times...THREE times! it has become a marketing strategy for this company to delay, better change their name to "Delaystar games" since they've hit the record for delaying games.

The worst delay was GTA IV. They announced the game to originally release on 10/16/2007 in mid 2006...

we make it 08/02/2007 a year later two months before release and Rockstar delays it it EARLY 2008!!... so we get to 2008 and we are really tired of waiting at this point..finally we get to April of 2008 and real leaks occur..finally the game gets released April 29th 2008.

E3 2006 - April 29th 2008.  - 684 days we waited for GTA IV

GTA : SA - GTA IV = 1281 days

You never know, all though in my opinion, they had alot of time working at it, I mean 6-7 has to be enough for them to finish the game without any need of delay.

Making games on PC is much harder than consoles, as you know on PC, most of the games might have alot of glitches. Take GTA 4 for examples, it was one of the worst games, it had alot of glitches, and the one I remember the most was the bulidings not show up.

That's not the case with Rockstar, they deliberately delay the PC version which is literally a marketing strategy to get people to double and triple dip just like they did with GTAV and now RDR2,no major company with a popular title has ever done what Rockstar does, look at BF and COD for example, they all release for all platforms same time.

GTAIV PC was a xbox360 port so no wonder it was one of the worst PC games performance wise out there.

They also didnt spend much time making pc version of gta iv. Think they spent more time making that forced drunk piracy camera than on the actual game :D

Undoubtedly. The only way it doesn't, is if they didn't announce it until they knew for a fact they could release it within a year. And I don't see that happening. Perhaps the success of GTA & Red Dead Online could help, but doubt it. GTA VI will be a huge ambitious leap over RDR2, and those games will need a lot of work. Something will cause a delay.

I truly think that the rockstar delays are marketing strategies.. It works very well for them as it fills pages and pages of media mentions.. It's happened on every major game of theirs.. They would have learnt by now, but its clearly marketing strategy.

If you don’t announce it, then it can’t be delayed. This seems to be Rockstar’s strategy at the moment.

There's no way they'll delay 3 of their games in a row.

Basically. They're holding off until everything is set and ready to go. Plus, with the release of the new generation of consoles coming this year.. might be next year we get an announcement.

Well with Dan Houser leaving, working conditions allegedly improving, and Zelnick wanting faster releases, I think it’s entirely possible now that GTA 6 in fact WON’T be delayed. We’ll see

GTA V was delayed twice, so some of the commentary above is quite off. November 2012 was a date planned, but not publicly committed to in 2011. Spring 2013 was assigned during 2012 and it ultimately became September 17, as time grew closer and scheduling conflicts prompted that.

It would do them well to shut up and not announce it until the game is 75% complete, requires 4-6 months of final work at best, or 8-12 months at worst.

Announcing a game that you think you only need 12-15 more months to complete, yet balloons into 21-24 months because of poorly mitigated issues, is careless.

RDR 2 genuinely had issues in 2017, that pushed it back from originally announced date of October 2017 to H1 2018 and then October 2018 ultimately.

They just shouldn't have discussed RDR 2 at all until 2017, like with GTA III and San Andreas in 2001 and 2004 respectively. Hell, even RDR being announced in 2009 and released in 2010. Don't get too confident and fail to deliver on time.

The person who complained about the delays for GTA IV doesn't seem to realize how much worse it was for V, which ended up being delayed for 10 months. IV suffered 6.5 months at worst. That's peanuts, seeing as RDR 2 had 12 months of official delays (dv hell caused earlier unofficial delays).

Folks keeping mixing up the gap between announcement and intended release with announcement and final release. 1 year out is expected in all industries, as the time to announce a project.

Unplanned delays complicate that. It's not a marketing mechanism, but they do their best to play it off. Expecting a 2 year gap, is NOT their MO, it's just consequence and leeway they give themselves at the max.

That "if we don't meet our set deadline, we can only spare 1 more year getting it right."

It'll absolutely be delayed. It creates more hype.

As a consequence, not an intentional form of marketing. They simply roll with delays and turn lemons into lemonade. They don't need more hype.

It's short-sighted for any of us to claim "more hype", as a sole reason to delay a release and not genuine issues with development.

They'll have enough hype as it is after a decade, even if released on time. It's not as if it's getting lost in shuffle of back-to-back releases. It's an new oasis, ending a drought.

They have nothing outside of regurgitating the same content or lackluster updates to existing titles.

I don't mind them delaying it as far as they bring up a good product. I don't care when it comes out. They might work on a new title for all I care. Of course, if they stop rehashing GTA V all over again.

However, I'm certain that GTA VI will be delayed for a few times before coming out. My prediction is that GTA VI will be officially announced in 2021. However, it's likely to come out probably in the late 2022 or 2023.
