So which is better Rockets or Plasma for the RC tank

Rockets are the same as a heavy sniper explosive bullet, 2 shots to destroy a normal vehicle.     It can destroy a MOC.... if you wanna sit there 5 minutes shooting at it.     I found a idle MOC i my lobby, so trust me I tried.     So it's not the best for taking out armored cars.     For that the laser cannon might actually be better as you can try to shoot the driver.

 

One odd thing about the cannon though.    I spent about 20 minutes fighting cops, I had a 5 star cops after me at one point.     While I was able to kill everything on the ground easily, I tried shooting down the Police Mavericks (helicopters) and no matter how many shots I fired, the helicopters would not go down or even take damage.

 

Did Rockstar add some weird restriction that the cannon only affects ground targets and doesn't damage air targets?

I tried both when I got it this morning. Prefer rockets due to a little splash damage, but plasma melts NPCs pretty well.

Shame they haven't gave us higher caliber rounds w the same damage tho. I hate those silly lasers...
 
But I think I might stick with the flamethrower for now. Just to see how easy it is to sneak up on people.

I like to call it RC Bandito Mk2, it's not something that was made for blowing stuff up, even though it's a tank.

Use it for sneaking up on players just like the RC Bandito, Plasma canon is useful for melting players, flamethrower is good too but risky.

You could use the rockets but the cooldown will slow you down.

Stock gun doesn't give away your position immediately and it's accurate enough to get headshots.

 

Flamethrower I will have to try if it kills godmode users. (EDIT: Doesn't seem to work against PC menu godmode.)

The rocket launcher is very limited in range. You probably were never hitting the helis, i.e. the rockets exploded before reaching them.

Plasma is just annoying to me, it doesn't destroy cars, pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew and cars still survive all of that, I went with the rockets.

Friend of mine took the flamethrower and he was able to destroy cars really fast.

I had a good enough time trolling people with the flame thrower. I just kept running into them to knock them down while torching them.

Tried all weapons and decided to go with plasma because the pea shooters are weak, the flamethrower has a range of about 1 metre and the rockets a range of about 10 metres. 

 

These things are tough though, I was messing with the cops last night and when I got bored, instead of exiting, tried to destroy the tank. 

I parked it right next to at least 20 vehicles that exploded and it wasn't even smoking. Had to quit out in the end.

From what I'm seeing.

 

Plasma Cannon - Long range, quick rate of fire, but weak.

 

Tank Cannon - Short range, slow rate of fire, but the most powerful.

 

 

The Plasma Cannon is said to take between 11-14 shots to the chest to kill, and doesn't knock people over.    So unless your good getting head shots, there is a change that when you shoot at someone they might be able to get away.

 

The tank cannon will kill a player in 1-2 shots.    When the first short connects it'll knock a player over, by the time they get back on their feet your second cannon shot will be ready.    However the tank cannon has next to no blast radius, so you need to connect with direct shots to the person you are shooting at.

 

Personally I'd go with Tank Cannon.    Sneak up on somebody, first short is a surprise and knocks the player over, by the time he's able to stand your second shot is ready, another blast and you got the kill.

 

I feel like people will be more easily able to run away from the Plasma Cannon.

I think it mostly just depends on how you want to go about your RC trolling business. All weapons have their uses and pros and cons. 

 

I got the explosive cannon on one character and opted for the plasma on my other. 

 

Had a blast running roughshod over the lobby I was in earlier with the plasma cannon.  Sneak attacking people and then the panic it induces in them is just priceless.

Flamethrower for me, seeing how it's this or Cerberus if you want one at all.

 

But the nano drone and Bandito (available now via the inventory menu!) both beat this IMO, at least as far as claiming bounties and griefing OPII users etc goes. Which is kinda nice actually because it leaves the tank as my flamethrower.

 

Now let us use them in missions, fun police.

Or they are new players with low health.  A lot of them are around this time of year.

I think some kind of intermittent glitch is going on with Police helicopters at the moment. 

 

The other day I was in a Savage with the explosive cannon, so close as to be almost colliding with a Police helicopter and it didn't seem to be taking any damage whatsoever from direct hits. The bullet stream didn't seem to go through it (in the way it would if it were ghosted), but they didn't explode on impact either. This only happened with maybe two out of about a dozen Police copters.

 

I've been able to take down a Police chopper with the tank's plasma cannon on the few occasions I've tried, but it takes time and luck. The hardest part is to avoid being constantly rammed off-aim by the cop cars.

I like that the plasma cannon is so effective that everyone is describing it as "melting" players. Can't say it's a wrong description either judging by the 2 hour long police chase I went on when it came out.
