What's the fastest way to rank up?

Sadly, showdown and PVP modes. Also doing some dailies.

Collecting. By far the easiest way. You could easily get 20 ranks a day.

I will never comprehend the motivation to grind out something you hate for the sake of a video game trophy... Just go afk with a rubberbanded controller in a race or showdown lobby while you do something else, you'll get there eventually and have wasted less lifeforce.
