Do you leave your car open to all players? Why or why not?

Seeing as we have our vehicles insured, I've started leaving my personal vehicles open to the public recently.  It's kind of fun when someone else, especially a low level player, gets to go joyride in your car for a bit.  I'll usually switch it up if I'm on a mission in a populated lobby, but otherwise I just leave the cars open.

Anyone else do this?  Any fun stories one way or the other?

Friends and crew members. Not that it matters as I spend half my life in Invite Only

I used to leave them open to randoms. But I locked them after people started stealing my cars at the beginning of contact missions. Annoying when I have to steal a car of the street and some a$$hole just took off in my Kermit the frog inspired ferrari!

But in general I do like the idea of letting low levels try cars the can’t afford yet. Just need to be more respectful about it.

I keep it on passengers only. Funny to watch randoms get mad and blow it up because they cannot take it. I'm normally in my Vigilante so lots of players ask if they can try it out and I always open it up to them. That drive normally ends in an explosion or trip into the water. People are strange.

Open to all to see what people are about.. Sometimes 2 people steal my car at the start of a mission and I just quit... Cant be arsed after that

No, mine are set to "passengers only" because as was said before, it's never fun to watch your car drive away without you in it at the beginning of a minute.

I'll let friends drive a new car I bought though.

Passengers only has got to be the best option. But I respect people who will jump in and wait for me. And during some situations this works well. Otherwise, it wasn't meant to be.

I have typically left the setting to "Passengers Only" because the few times I have let randoms drive my vehicles, they destroy them right away. Planes into telephone poles, cars into water, almost without fail. Of course, the opposite is also true, as if I leave my Deluxo or other valuable vehicle out in the open, people will slap C4 on it when they can't drive it away. It's not that I don't want people to enjoy my vehicles, of course, it's just annoying when I have to call Mors and my mechanic before I can get back to playing the game.

Considering I'm on PC, though, it doesn't always matter what I've set. I came out of my arcade a few days ago and found that my Deluxo had been driven away, customized to be all chrome with pink rims and whitewalls, then driven back to a spot across the road. Switching sessions fixed it, thankfully, but man is that not reassuring for my outlook on my fellow GTA Online players.

Friends and Crew, but sometimes when my friends and crew members get on the trolling train, I set it to passengers only.

I do not,  simply because I know my luck and some random would probably using it when I need it, not mention 99% of the time, I am using my PV.

Friends and crew are welcome though.

I leave it open to anyone. I like to park expensive vehicles with a ignition bomb in hot spots.

This.  I usually use the gold dubsta at the mod shop,  back in the old days it was a adder parked downtown.

I play on PS4 so I can't imagine how much modding and stuff is going on with PC, but that is a pretty funny troll job you've gotta admit

It's always open. On missions I encourage people to drive so I don't have to do the 7km drive to the mission location.

Why drive when someone will drive you for just the chance of driving a new car? Win-win

There should be an option Friends + Crew + MC/CEO members (including missions and heists). Problem solved!

Passengers only. My car, my rules, I'm the driver. Same way I handle it in real life. Except there is one person that I would allow to drive my real life car.

Passengers only because it pisses me off when people make a mad dash and steal your car but have THEIR car locked. Making you have to either kick the fool out of yours, or use a sh*tty street car.

my cars are always open because it gives people the opportunity to drive a car they may otherwise have not paid attention to

MOC cab is a different story, it stays locked. way too powerful to let it fall into the hands of some random individual

Passengers only here, but I allow low-level randoms to drive the new/expensive cars every now & then ... Under my supervision though.

Yes, vehicles always open to everyone.

It gets rarely taken by someone, and if so then they are either friendly and just want to try it out, or it's a low level and funny things happen.

I'm rarely involved in fights, but honestly you have to be an idiot to take an opponent's vehicle in a fight. I had a guy come after me in my own Insurgent once; when he came close I chose "empty vehicle" and blasted him with a shotgun.

I've also played a heist once where the guy who drove my car just was honking the horn all the time even after I asked them to stop. So again, "empty vehicle", switch to the driver's seat and let the guy sit somewhere without a horn to honk.

Passengers only for me, but I switch to friends only when I've got people I know playing in the same session.

If I'm in a low-population lobby and have just finished with a mission vehicle (Dodo, helicopter, blimp or boat) then I'll generally leave it near a low level player and leave it near to them for them to play around with.

Yeah since it doesn't make any difference now that I never play with anyone other than friends now a days. No randoms to take off with my car? It's all good in the hood.

Sure why not :D

But to answer the question, It's passengers only all the way with me

Mine are usually unlocked for all. I don't mind if they steal them as I go to steal a truck or something and coast along.

But I really really like it when I'm told to hurry up as I'm needed to hit a checkpoint, lol. Or better yet, I beat them there as they ended up going for a swim. 🤣🤣

And this, lol. The only time I'm around others is when on call. I have an allergy to public sessions it seems, hampers RDRO for me too. :(

Friends only, in case they’re in a tight spot and my car’s there with them. Passengers during heists and missions and No One on any other occasion. I don’t want any plebeian random to grab the wheel of my Furia with their dirty, greasy hands.

You know what I should do? Set my vehicle access to Everyone, let a random drive it, track him with the map and kick him out of my vehicle as soon as he’s in the middle of a war zone. It’s not like I don’t have insurance.
