Shiny claw machine mechanics

Fking a r* you do not know how to do a proper claw machine.

So many times I have it on the right spot and still doesn't catch on.

Like am I missing something here or?

Everyone's complaining about the same, guess it's a 1 in 1000000 chance of winning.

It's totally random, and it really stinks. I've tried at least 200 times to get the pink one in the back, to no avail. Just pray to RNGsus, I guess.

If it's any consolation, you don't need to be very accurate or anything, I got the PRB after 1000 plus attempts and the claw barely touched the PRB doll. The plushes giggle around when you're hitting them to give you some semblance of spacial awareness.

Its completely random, you don't even have to hit it on the right spot. From the videos I've seen the object will just magically teleport even if you way off.

It's easy to pinpoint the one you want to grab, but it's RNG on whether or not the claw will actually grip it.

Ignore physics on this one.

This is actually how SOME real claw games work, in order to maintain a particular payoff ratio for the operator.

A proper claw machine is random as well. Most of the time it won't close enough / pull with enough strength to get a prize.

so is it completely random? do the amount of tries reset every session?

I can't say for sure, but I've done several short sessions with no luck, yet others have stayed until they won and have taken less than my total time to win multiple.... so who knows.  It's it's random, then it really is random

Real-life claw machines aren't as random or rigged as some people think. I've played many claw machines in many locations, the kind with stuffed animals, and my success rate is over 50%.

So R* actually got it right. Why complain?

It actually is rigged, especially with stuffed animals. Ever notice they pack them in tight so it's harder to even get one off the top.

I once spotted a claw machine that had one of the plushies stapled. That was sight worth more than the entire machine itself.

Still, the absolute randomness in gtao is absolute ass trash. It's be nice if they wouldn't lock rewards behind RNG!

True story the only legal form of gambling for kiddies in the UK. Well, not legal, but for some reason tolerated.

Next time you see one, either find the control panel or count the win-loss pattern :D

Most claw machines I've played don't clip through the prizes they're grabbing.

so, when its completely random, its not necessary to go right with the claw?

so i need only to go 0,1 second back, and then "double click" enter/enter?

Then I must be very, very good to have a >50% success rate, hmm?

I will add one caveat, though, and it's that on real-world stuffed animal claw machines, you have to carefully select the one to try for. You might want a specific one, but that one might be wedged in tight. You can't be too picky, you have to find one that looks realistically possible and try for that one.

Its a time waster...so I really dont think it matters where the claw is...and I don't think its random.

From my point of view the mechanic is simple. You put the claw in a relatively general area...it drops on the plushie...the plushie does a shaking motion (which lets you know you triggered a pull) Thats telling to me because it lets you know which one you just went for...hypothetically if it doesnt matter where the claw is than you could put it in the middle of two of them and increase your chances of getting one...but Rockstar put in the little shaking animation. I think for each plushie you need to trigger the shaking animation X amount of times...and for some of them its a large number...

To be honest I was kind of waiting for a list to come out with how many pulls it takes to get each one. For now I have just settled on doing 10-20 tries each time I am online. If anyone is curious I will leave the stats for the plushies I went for the most.

PRB - 100-150 pulls and it grabbed it.

the green cat in the front - 100 - 150 pulls and it grabbed it.

Shiny Wasabi Kitty Plushie - at least 450-500 and still nothing.

Rockstar making a proper claw machine? Wishful thinking.

I'm only on 137. Been tallying them on a paper. So I guess I have a long way.

That would explain why I was getting nothing trying for so long to get PRB first!  I did finally just get her, and counted 23 pulls to get Saki (although I may have done a couple before -- I don't remember).

EDIT: 87 for Muffy.

Yeah some guy on youtube livestreamed his 6+ hours going for the same one I've been going for...I think he just gave up. So my thinking is it can't be random. Maybe its a statistical percentage...I tried lining them up all day long...Ive seen successful pulls on youtube and tried positioning the claw the exact same way...it made no difference really it still took about 100 pulls to get it to go.

The problem with that Wasabi Kitty one in the back is I have yet to see someone post a video of winning that one. Thats whats telling me its not random at all and thats why I kind of gave up. That one could be a stupid high number of tries before you win it.

EDIT: I am also curious as to why there are two duplicate brown ones in the middle. If you get the same t-shirt for winning...but knowing Rockstar they probably made two different t-shirts for that particular one.

I got the one that's front, right in no more than 20 goes, but now nothing....

Maybe I should try again another day.

I noticed they move before you even touch them, so I tried to find one that didn't, but they all did. So that's not part of it.

I've gotten 8 out of the 9 different ones. Still cannot figure out how to get the girl with green hair, in the back right corner.

Just like real life. These machines are a massive con. The claws are deliberately limp.

It's like the machines which drop coins when they are pushed off the moving shelves by inserting your own coins. The shelves are magnetic and so the coins cling to them.

I hate these scam machines and tend to avoid them. Even normal arcade games are programmed to randomly fail you, forcing you to insert more coins to continue.

I stick to the air-hockey type games.

I played way to many claw games as a kid, im offended by the shiny wasabi kitten claw game not acknowledging my aiming skills tbh xD

Anyway while we're on the subject of how real life claw games are a massive con, you're not wrong, but theres a trick for claw games at most funfairs, most of the time the stand will be a square/rectangle with machines facing outward on each side and the top of the machine is fully glass, what you do is play a machine on each side once, while sneakingly looking at the back of the machines on the other side, at least 95% of claw game machines i've seen at funfairs have controls and a number display on the back/inside of the stand & you can look at other people playing high or low number machines to decide what machines you should play on (sometimes the number describes gripping strength, sometimes the number represents failed grabs to go until it actually grabs, you get the idea, just pay attention to those numbers and the people playing high & low number machines to decide what machines you should target)

I've pulled consoles iphones etc out of these machines several times over just doing the above ^^ and while i never got caught im fairly sure if they do the worst thing that can happen is them saying you cant play on their machines anymore, they would never include cops because that would mean they have to admit that the machines have built in con features that you are abusing, meaning they'd be in more trouble then you.

Does anyone have an opinion on what happens if you swap which one you are aiming for?

Will it reset the counter for the previous one?

I've been going for Rasta but got bored and started going fully back/fully right. Nothing so far still :(

this sh*t is so random... since the first day i have been going for the rasta one, today i decided to go for the blue and on my 3rd try go it.

also notice that the machine has a sticker with the different characters but they only show 6 and the machine have 8.

You won't believe me if I say this but, last night I managed to get three plushies.  Muffy (green one) got caught on the first attempt, Humpy (purple one) on only three attempts and Smoky after ten attempts at grabbing him.  And the claw was pretty much dead on.  Three in ten minutes.

Guess I got real lucky.  Master and Shiny Wusabi Kitty can get f*cked for all I wanna know...

According to the TV show those six are the "horny sidekicks". Actually those are 9, including PRB, SWK and the old man aka Master Hentai.
