In the benchmark? They changed the benchmark, so the numbers can't be compared to before, you have to test it in areas that you know how you fps were and go there again.

Nope. They're still flickering sometimes

What did they change specifically? The areas are still the same.

Before this patch, the fades to black counted towards max and min. Which means you'd have like 500 FPS on a fade to black and a stutter while it was loading, which changed the min, max and screwed up the average values. Now only the actual gameplay is counted, which WILL decrease the averages compared to before (because the max FPS isn't like 80 or more, depending).

For me the flickering is intermittent throughout the game, I started a new game and decided to open the map once I got to Chapter 2, and the flickering on the map is impressive.

Unlike the flickering map I will post these pics as spoilers just in case anyone in here hasn't played it.

this is what you should be seeing

and this is what you also get with what appears to be the alternate frame

I'm blown away by how much worse the game is performing for me since the last patch that I've turned auto update off for now, along with the flickering the game goes into suicide mode if I go anywhere near the graphics settings menu even just to look without changing a single thing, the gfx err state crashes are happening far more frequently, a lot more with the launch argument set,  I genuinely wish there was a way to roll back the updates, I could deal with the game throwing a crash after a couple of hours, prompted me to go make myself another cup of tea and roll n smoke a fat one, but not even I need a brew every 20mins.

Roughly 230 hrs playtime into this game, the last 20 has been the worst, c'mon  :r*: you can do better than this, although the GTA IV/GFWL/SucuRmom/RGSC release proved you know how to do things a lot f*cking worse, oddly mssing from the R* Launcher showcase and store, strange one that Paul.

Edit:

R*: RDR2 for PC is almost ready to release
T2: What about DRM and protecting the launch window ?
R*: No problem, we've thought of that
T2: O'really ?
R*: Yeah, we're going to release a game so broken that it crashes more frequently than Romain Grosjean
T2: How does that protect it ?
R*: Well we figure that none of the Jack Sparrow's are going to want to hoist their Jolly Roger over what we have planned
T2: Genius
R*: Only problem will be the backlash from legit players who bought the game
T2: Oh f*ck them, we already got their money, now get on with releasing the game for the Holidays, and don't forget to get that Online only DLC cashcow unleashed and we can also milk the console peasants
R*: Mooooooooooooooo

Random crashes are still there. And of course the game only freezes when you did 45 Minutes of Hunting rare animals and did not save your game.

I hate you.

I'm on DX12 and anecdotally it seems like a couple fps have been lost. Enough to convince me to drop Global Illumination off Ultra.

The only thing that's really bugging me is the neon-coloured particle artefacts seem to have come back, regardless of Particle Quality setting.

smoke from train gone :0 after patch wtf!

Seems like this fix might have interfered with particle effects in various ways:

  •  Improved performance on PC systems with high-end CPUs when displaying large amounts of particle effects at once

My CPU definitely isn't high-end though. It's a 10-year-old Core i7 920 @ 3.6GHz.

Ah right. But I wasn't talking about the average FPS shown at the end. I remembered the FPS I used to get on every areas and I noticed dropped frames on those areas via my MSI Afterburner overlay.

I really don't understand this complaint. I too have faced random crashes but I never lost any 3 star pelt only because I manually kept saving after every 3 star animal skinning. How hard is that?

Sometimes you just forget. And I lost nothing because I did not find one of those damn birds I am missing in those 45 Minutes ^^

Oh, and, since when are you able to fast travel from your camp in the wilderness and why did no one tell me 250 hours of playtime earlier XD

This patch brought me some issues such as stuttering with V-Sync turned on, water flickering in the distance, my horse suddenly becoming invisible and then visible again. And my screen turning black for a split second.

Everything was running fine before, I'm not sure what is causing all this. and the pop in got bad.

Edit.: I can confirm that the smoke from trains is also gone for me

Tbh I'm avoiding this game for now after the latest patch, there are more issues than fixes, stuff like having no smoke from trains, constant flickering is just another proof that R* doesn't do QA really, just as the GTAO updates in fact, history repeats itself.

Waiting for a proper fix to these issues.

I do not have any flickering or graphical issues whatsoever. Can't confirm trains as I haven't been near one yet, so idk. V-Sync stuttering for me started after the previous patch at random so it's an existing issue, iirc some people have it since 1.00. FPS (other than the microstutters) is also the same for me. Really strange how some things change so much between configurations and others not at all.

Yeah, the first thing I upgraded in my camp was fast traveling. And I used it a lot from there and from my farm later. But no one told me you can fast travel literally from anywhere by just setting up a camp.
