Commander S Posted December 16, 2019 Author Share Posted December 16, 2019 Finally figured out where I recognised the shapes for the headlights/rear cluster - they're not 1:1 for the EK9, but they are based on slightly later Civic models: Headlights have some cues from the US-model 7th-gen Civics, while the overall shape of the rear light cluster (if not the exact configuration) looks based on the same-generation UK-model hatchbacks (again, pre-facelift). ...and then it hit me: for years, there's actually been a similarly-faithful take on a Civic hatch (specifically, a UK-model 7th-gen EP2 Civic Si), in another GTA-like franchise - namely the Mockingbird, from the earlier Saints Row titles: Never thought I'd see the day when I'd be forced to stop using the Mockingbird as a point of reference for 'this is stuff GTAO still can't beat a decade later', but I'm not going to complain now that it's happened! I've done some looking, and I don't think they've done a 1:1 lift from anything specfic in either case - with the taillights, I can't find anything with the same specific pattern of lights, but it's just the way the Kanjo's are moved off the rear glass and with slant on the innermost edge (unlike the vertical edge of the EK9) that's very similar to the overall shape on the 7th-gen UK hatches: So it ends up looking 'Civic-y' overall, because the new shapes are still in that same wheelhouse, but without being glaringly from something else (like the VW Corrado front on the Blista Compact... ). Yeah, those are even closer - and yet not 100% either (larger reverse lights, and yeah, no indicators/blinkers). But the lower strip for the reverse lights is definitely the nearest I've seen so far. They really nailed it with the customisation and included all the real-life mods for an EK Civic like the the raised bonnet and even the ridiculous near-vertical standing spoiler. Anyway, here's my best effort at customising this car. This is the first time I have used R* Editor to take screenshots and post them here! The Vamos also has this same value for the same flag and as a result it turns on its own making it a truly dreadful experience on the road. GTA Wiki - granted, they're a pretty ropey source of info for a lot of things, but at the very least, the store descriptions are just a straight rip from the game. Here's the one for the Zhaba: "Alien invasion, the undead rising, hordes of liberal arts students. Good spot - yeah, that's the exact configuration, isn't it? And a good call from R*, since that's a really close 'donor' car for the EK9. Now to see if there's a similar exact match for the rear lights - started going down the Domani/Rover 400 rabbit hole, but that's definitely not it...
