Yep, looks like Marcel will be stuck in the basement making a whole lot of nothing. Tried to do a bootlegger mission (my first one) and ended up in the loading screen of death

So far I have done one trader delivery(full load large wagon) and got nothing  and now 3 moonshine deliveries and got stiffed on the last 2 of them

Lol, that's what I'm trying to unlock too. I just want somewhere to chill out and take a break for a few minutes and I can't stand Cripps' music anymore. 

Today, my camp is set up right next to Madam Nazar, so I get both sets of music playing at the same time. 

I'm going to just hang around in my silent bar, it's much better.

remember to read them

 

I was wondering why I have been seeing a LOT more vanilla flower's and ginseng lately

 

Bands, I guess when you name your company Rockstar,

A band seems imminent

From the couple of hours I played yesterday I'd have to agree. The speakeasy is cool, the missions are fun too, for now, but it really doesn't seem to warrant being its own 20 rank role.

 

A 10 rank extension of the Trader role would have been more than sufficient.

Is there any good way to boost this? I’m not really sure how it works. I do Bootlegger missions to up the price of my shine, and then find ingredients for Marcel when I’m out and about. When the batch is done, I assume there’s a sell mission (haven’t done it yet). I’m only level 2 in this role. Will there be any later role unlocks that will make it go faster? 
I’m level 6 in the OP2, so I got the booster percentage, but it seems really slow still.

 

I’m a little afraid that RDO will get a tad boring for me now. I’ve maxed out Trader and Collector, but I’m 6 and 2 in Bounty Hunter and Moonshiner respectively, and those two roles are a tad boring to me. So to get both these roles to level 20, I’ll have to do bounty missions, which I don’t like, and run around collecting ingredients while hunting animals for Cripps.

Im sure, the bootlegger missions and the story missions itself decreases the costs of the mash:

 

60 dollar maximum price

play 1 mission --> 40 dollar

play another mission --> 30 dollar

etc --> 20 dollars

etc --> 10 dollars

 

but the prices raises very fast, maybe someone knows the exactly time?   it feels like about 10-20 minutes.

 

so your cirlce shuold be: play missions to get the mash price to minimum, then buy the mash, look at the timer for the market prices, if the production is in the time period, choose the moonshine which has the biggest price. if the production will last longer than the switch of market prices, you choose another moonshine, and hope, that it will have the bonus when the new market prices arrive.  you have to put in the flavour immediatly after buying the mash, because adding/changing flavour it to it will reset the production

Rank 49 of the pass increases the XP boost from 15% to 25%. The extra 10% won't make that much difference, but it's better than nothing.

 

Moonshiner looks like it's going to be a drag to rank up, but we're over 3 months away from the next update and I have everything else maxed out and unlocked, so I'm not going to focus on getting through it quickly like I did with the original 3 roles.

 

Even casually playing the role I'll have it maxed out in a few weeks.

The story missions seem to be the best way to rank up for now. 

I've gone through all of them (5) without a single black screen. There are plenty of enemies too, and at 20-30xp per kill it adds up (I don't know if that xp counts towards moonshine role but it will help to rank up outlaw pass). 

 

I've only managed 4/7 sales (3 black screens) and 1/3 bootleg missions (2 black screens). 

 

 

ETA: The game was nice to me and I managed to load a bootleg mission which ranked me up to level 5.. I have my band!

Love the banjo flourish and carefree dancing on the stage rn with a massive smile on my face.

It costs $50 for mash to sell 20 bottles for just over $80. If the horses weren’t nice, I wouldn’t bother continuing with this role.

Just do some bootlegger missions to reduce the price of the mash and when ranked uo, buy the upgrades so you can make stronger moonshine which sells for more...

From what I've seen so far, the best way to profit would be:

 

-bootlegger mission to decrease buying price to $10

-choose the flavour

-sell to the buyer who pays the most (I think it's all in the luck pretty much)

 

I'm still stuck to light moonshine, I bought for $10 and should have sold for $82.. I say "should have sold" because I got stuck on the black loading screen. 

 

Anyway, I think it's definitely not worthy, at least now. If you have some money to spend in a nice place, then go for it, but so far it's just a waste businesswise. 

 

Ps: also, I think the camp has been finally fixed SO FAR, but there are still issues with Eagle Eye + (goddamn) and animals spawning with crowdy lobbies.

Maybe it's the roads in the Grizzlies, because they're narrow and bumpy. I saw a livestream on YT and this guy did the missions without any broken bottles. He had  the Bayou shack and the roads there are much wider and better...

Put it on cinematic camera and hold down X so you’re staying on road at a gentle pace. Keep an eye out for the collectors and shoot them before they see the wagon.

I’ve just upgraded to the average moonshine and seen how much can be made, which is better than before 👍

Anyway yea, the speakeasy is by far the best part of the role, the band, dancing, pouring drinks, being able to tend the bar, it's super cool. I only wish they were in better places (ie towns/St Denis) and marked on the map so other players were more likely to walk in and hang out. GTAO has similar issues with the Nightclubs, they're cool but they might as well be put on invite only 24/7 cause randoms aint walking in which kinda sucks.

 

The actual role its self is super basic and is just a trimmed down version of the Trader. The bootlegger missions are probably the best part of the Moonshiner stuff that's outside of the speakeasy cause there's not much to the actual moonshining aspect although the deliveries aren't gigantic that I've seen which is nice. Definitely seems to be a little bit quicker overall than the Trader. My stance on it, from what I've seen so far, is that it should've been 10 -15 levels. Something like this I don't think should be treated as a standalone role (I know it requires lvl 5 Trader), it should be an extension to the Trader stuff. Every single new role being 20 levels is gonna get tiresome and I know they bigged the whole "BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE!" implying not everyone should max out everything, but when the first "major" content update in a few months (and probably the only content update for another 2-3 months going by the Outlaw Pass v2 end date) adds only one role they've basically just pissed all over everything they've said they are trying to do.

Ah right it’s just that when you lean on the bar there’s an option to request a drink. Bit daft.

 

yea, the speakeasy is cool but I agree with everything else you said there. They are just copy and pasting stuff really and calling it a brand new update. It’s going to get boring very quickly if the next role is similar as well. Let’s hope they’ve got something up their sleeve cos I still love the game and want to carry on.

Wow dumbass game man. I finished a mission, but got disconnected as it was done so I missed the cutscene. Its the one where you have to go to Butcher's creek to poison the moonshine. Anyone have a video of the cutscene so I can see what I missed?

Oh joy. Can't be a bootlegger unless you're Trader rank 5 or made your first trader delivery.  

 

If only I could have gotten Cripps to stop his OCD packing up my camp every time I logged into the game in the past. I'd have made thousands of dollars in profit off trading by now.

 

Ah well. Welcome back to Grind City. The Outlaw Pass 2 40 free gold bar give away grind has now been explained. 

 

Assuming the camp feature continues to work that is....😂

Heartlands appears to be the most central on the map for delivery logistics. Barriers like deep snow, hazardous/narrow mountain passes, temperate weather and climate (unlike the depressing/dangerous Bayou and blizzard prone Grizzlies), less poisonous critters, greater variety in all types of game (for trader goods quality purposes), all wreak operational risk and havoc on your delivery vehicle and profits. Also easier to spot other players trying to jump your cart on the flatter terrain.

 

Also this location is typically where I prefer to pitch my camp, tend to run into Nazar while she's in the area, and is more geographically friendly like New Austin terrain. Since like New Austin, is the best navigational wise since it's relatively flat. But superior to Hennigan's Stead/New Austin because of significant more game to hunt and skin. Also better for a bit of skull duggery if you want to jump NPCs at night. A lot of carriages and horse bound NPCs are in that area than other locations.

 

And of course, this is the best location for ready access to the fence, railroad, PO and FT. Which gives you the cheaper access to Valentine/W Elizabeth areas next to the non Tall Tree locations.

Well, I made it to level 4 in 3 hours with a total of 5 black screens, three "no money" events at the end of delivery and an inexplicable loss of my inventory IN THE CABIN. 

I'm bored. Pretty sure this is as far as I'm ever going to get in Moonshining. Maybe I'll go finish the Bounty Hunter role. Oh, who am I kidding, that's just as boring.

the bootlegger mission when you have to start a fistfight in the saloon is epic!

we did it with 3 posse members and had a great rumble with lots of enemies and 2 endbosses :D

does anybody know, when the buyers list will reset? maybe its a specific ingame time?

 

my problem is, that when you want to start a new production, you are not able to see how long the buyers list timer left.

I'm not sure of the real purpose of the buyer timer except maybe you can sit on your 20 bottle batch until your preferred buyer is available. But the way the game is now if you have a full batch, sell it asap. They can disappear
