It's good to know id helped with the guns, I heard they helped Bethesda with the shooting when they were working on FO4 too, and I had a lot of fun playing Rage 2 when that came out. So good to know they're lending their talents for this game. Jason Posted February 20 Share Posted February 20 Arkane have been one of those studios where I dig their approach to game design but they've yet to work in a genre that is more my kind of thing, but Redfall looks like it might be the game that changes that for me. Early footage didn't blow me away but the recent Xbox Showcase overview trailer looked really good IMO. It's co-op but I can see my self possibly playing it solo if there's no decent public matchmaking / text chat stuff. Hopeful about it anyway. Atomic Heart hit Games Pass today through NZ (official launch is the 21st), reviews are all over the place, currently sitting mid 70's on OpenCritic. High praise for the setting, world, and art and the gameplay sounds solid but the writing has been torn to shreds, it's never a good look for a game when people are saying the protagonist is just straight up unlikable. I have it pre-loaded and still fancy giving it a whirl even if only for an hour or two, cause why not given it's on GP. In not quite Xbox related news, though one day might be if the acquisition ever goes through (which it might not, given recent news, who knows), Diablo 4's beta is March 17th-19th for pre-orders and the 24th-26th for the open beta. Jason Posted March 1 Share Posted March 1 Would not surprise me one bit if MS acquire Paradox after the Acti Blizz situation is sorted, regardless of how it goes. They're not perfect but they have carved their own niche on PC and generally do well, it'd be a sensible acquisition for them to cover a part of the market on PC that they don't have any foothold in yet. Always curious to see what they're coming out with, I wouldn't mind a Cities Skylines 2 with a heap of new tech but given they just put out a remaster for the first idk if I really expect that to happen. F1 22 is coming to GP soon (today possibly?), think I'll be giving that a go seeing as it's the first F1 game on GP to come to PC, so wanting to give that ago in ultrawide 60fps and all that. Especially considering that we had reports of it being already 4 years in development by late 2021. It was also announced in 2020 and we heard a lot about it before that too. Then again we don't know for sure about any problems concerning the development or about the scale of the game to begin with. Hopefully, it will come out fine, Fable has a pretty unique look to it, standing out among the other RPGs which are generally a lot more serious. Looking forward to it. Jason Posted Friday at 12:23 PM Share Posted Friday at 12:23 PM Fable is a brand new team working on an engine never originally intended for open world RPG's, so it's gonna take longer than something like Avowed which is made by an experienced and established team. Plus with Fable I imagine there's a lot of work trying to figure out what exactly they want to do, the old games had their charm but by modern day standards are fairly shallow in a lot of ways compared to modern RPG's, so they're probably trying to figure out how to take classic Fable stuff and turn it into a deeper, bigger open world RPG? It wouldn't surprise me if it's 2025, tbh. Everwild being still very MIA is a little concerning too. Avowed at the end of this year would be great but I get the impression it'll probably Q1-Q2 2024 my self. If the co-op was fully featured it'd be great, but instead it was more like if you joined someone elses game you were basically just a hired gun. Get your house in order before you have the fun and games, so to speak. They have a strong line up for this year if everything we know of makes it out - Hi-Fi Rush, Redfall, Minecraft Legends, Starfield and Forza Motorsport is a strong 1st party selection but they need to deliver before we can start patting them on the back.
