Been enjoying some old favorites on the series x…. Playing FO4 again and it looks and runs so much smoother… the loading times are awesome. Very happy with the purchase.

Got my new Xbox today. Still installing my games atm, but I'm playing FO76 right now. My camp loads instantly now, on XB1 it always took a few seconds. It looks like textures are always hi res too.. On XB1 they would often change from hi res to low. Blah. Overall the performance is much better, game's more responsive. Always had an issue with the game's weapon wheel lagging when I needed to switch weapons or use a repair kit in the field. Now there's no hesitation.

Top marks.

If you haven't don't forget to enable FPS boost, it will lower image a bit, yet Well worth getting 60fps

Note some games Auto Boost, and some need manual toggle in settings

ty I didn't know about that. =]

@trip Apparently we can run 76 at 60 fps, I can't tell the difference though. I'm gonna pop on FO4 and compare.

I swear I just checked 76 the other night and it didn't have FPS boost.  I swear!

Gosh...now I'm excited.  Been living in Fallout world again and was bummed at 76 being all 30 frames.  Ha

Yay FPS boost.

I've been searching for a good way to play The Warriors and although I have an OG modded Xbox, I was looking at emulation on Series X. I was thinking to purchase access to developer mode and to install Retro Arch. Has anyone here done this yet? I have my old laptop's internal SSD enclosed to use as an external drive which I can run the games off (instead of using the internal HD).

Not sure if I posted this at the time and apologies if I have but Xbox won Metacritic's Publisher of The Year. OK, Deathloop had a previous deal with Sony but it's arriving this year on Xbox and any sequel will be Xbox exclusive. Can we finally put to bed the "Xbox has no games" narrative?"  After the Activision deal Xbox has about 30 studios.

xbox-metacritic.large.jpg

Some games to look forward to:

State of Decay 3

Forza: Motorsport 8

Redfall

Starfield

The Outer Worlds 2

Fable 4

The Elder Scrolls: VI

Contraband

Perfect Dark

There are loads more announced and unannounced left out of that list. Good times ahead. Pity E3 is cancelled but expect to see Starfield this summer.

Xbox & Beth showcase is June 12th.

Could be a very exciting one of this, feel like it could be the year where we see MS come out firing with announcements and gameplay/release dates, rather than just announcements for games yonks away.

Finally going to see that Starfield gameplay showcase that was announced back in Nov, perhaps. Very excited to say the least.

Very Starfieldy, indeed.

I'm so glad we have an official date. Isn't that normally around E3 time? I know E3 is cancelled but just saying.

Starfield, I hope will be my new Skyrim - that game I can't resist going back to. New soundtrack to fall in love with, new beautiful planetary vistas, new characters to be amused and confused by, loved and hated.

I hope Bethesda do a nice photo-mode for Starfield. Last 3 big single player titles had none. I see Starfield as a the new poster child for Xbox now. I think if they pull it off and do it right it could have the effect of Elden Ring and bring lots of new people not only into RPG's but sci-fi/space. I hope it received and as loved as Skyrim or Mass Effect trilogy and I hope they set the new standard of space-RPG that BioWare set a long time ago.

I'm hyped but not overhyped. Things can always go tits-up. Even companies where you have the most faith in and the most trust in can balls it up. So, I keeping cautiously optimistic.

Yea it's why I never got why people were so happy for E3 to officially be dead, these events all end up around E3 time anyway and E3 was a way for them all to happen in the same location. Hoping that'll come back one way or another.

But anyway yea, my expectations for Starfield are tame. I expect it'll be good, but not without some jank in areas. Loads of content and freedom and typical Beth style interactive worlds and I'm good, anything else is a bonus.

Reasonable expectations. 👍

I'm so forgiving of Bethesda jank and bugs cause I think the worlds are just so impressive. There are always some beautiful unexpected moments and most of all plenty of content and not in the bad Ubisoft kind of way.  I know I mentioned before but I get fatigued in most games, even my favourite games around the 50hr mark. 50hrs in a Bethesda game is only the tip of the iceberg.

I still need want to complete Mass Effect trilogy before I jump into Starfield. I think I'll continue with that soon because I don't want to roll into one space-RPG to another. I find playing a setting, possibly an old game with a very diferent setting (possibly a period game) before I move into a new setting. The leap and change of scenery always is an added bonus. Like jumping from Skyrim to Cyberpunk is huge leap. GTA IV is rumoured to be being remastered so maybe we'll be playing that before or around the time.

Sorry don't mean to turn this is to Gaming Chat Cafe talk. Going back to Xbox, it's been nearly 2 years since Avowed was announced. Anyone believe there will be some info on that in June? Personally, I don't mind if that doesn't come out until 2024. I played a little Pillars of Eternity on Game Pass. Fun for the 10hrs or less I put in. I know that doesn't do the game justice - just wanted to check the world out. I'm past isometric games at this stage but from what I've played, it seemed really solid and engaging and can see why fans of the genre or older generations would have loved it.

Even if you're still pining for the types of production values Sony brings to the table, nobody can deny the diversity and value being offered by Xbox Game Pass, with titles like Flight Simulator, Age of Empires IV, and Psychonauts 2. Given the sheer volume of investment being pumped into Xbox right now, I think it's only a matter of time before Microsoft silences criticism of its games lineup once and for all.

Anyone affected by DRM/Outages at the weekend?

I wasn't, thankfully. It seems to affect mainly people that game-share. Anyway, it's raising the issue about Microsoft Xbox's handling of DRM. We don't know exactly what caused the outage but whatever happened the outcome for a small minority was abysmal. People affected by the outage couldn't even play their games offline. Not good. And very poor PR for Xbox, especially with this Xbox Showcase coming up.

It's extremely rare I've been affected by outages. I don't know.. where I'm based I know there is a Microsoft (Azure) data centres less than 20km away from me - I know that doesn't make me immune but I'm sure there is some advantage.

Apparently setting your Xbox to Home helps. Not sure what else. I don't game share.

Yes!  It was kind of funny because shortly before the xbox outage we had a rare power outage.  Power came up...xbox went down.

It was frustrating to see every game no matter what come up with "you have to be online to play this".   But but but the weird thing was I was able to start a new game of Skyrim but when I left it and went to return to it I got the "have to be online" message.  Like what the f*ck...

Interesting. So you think it's some kind of bug/glitch than say a DRM policy issue or some kind of blend of both? Either way, it's sh*tty and they need to resolve it. I especially imagine how frustrating it is for people wanting to play on the weekend on their days off and this happens. Oftentimes, I have to really be in the mood to game, especially if I had been busy earlier in the day so when I want to play, it best be working. Thankfully, it hasn't happened me but knowing the potential for it to, isn't great.

This article from, Windows Central is very helpful on DRM and sharing

Xbox DRM explained: Setting a home console, console sharing, licenses, and more | Windows Central

In other news. FLASH,,,,,Xbox Series S, outsells PS5 in Japan

The Xbox Series S has outsold the PS5 in Japan for the very first time.

Reported earlier today on May 19 by Japanese publication Famitsu, and translated via the tweet just below from Limited Run Games' Alex Aniel, the Xbox Series S has outsold the PS5 in Japan for the first time. This is in terms of the last week's sales for both consoles, in which the Xbox Series S sold a total 6,210 units, while the PS5 sold 2,963 units.

Granted supply issues for all, yet this is great news for Microsoft

If Game Pass can catch on, then this will really reap rewards🏅

MS have had a blinder with the S. It's been mostly free of the stock issues that have plagued the X and PS5 as far as I've seen, and at the lower price, has been very steadily selling. The X also seems to be easier to get now than a PS5 too (just looked at Amazon UK and saw they have X's in stock right now) which will help them too.

PlayStation is still more popular but with the easier to get consoles + GamesPass MS seem to be doing very well this gen to recover some of the console market share they lost with the Xbox One.

Yeah look, you don't seek to gain anything from this only helping others out that might be intertested. Perfectly fine, helpful and appreciated as @Tacymist said.

I inch ever closer to getting an Xbox Series X.

I have no real reason to pick one up at the moment, but with all the future exclusives going to it I really have no choice but to get one at some point. No way I'm missing out on Outer Worlds sequels, Starfield, any future Arkane stuff...

Plus I guess any potential Fallout will be exclusive? Sheesh

It is safe to assume that the vast majority of 1st party Xbox games in future will only release on PC, Xbox and xCloud yea. There will be some exceptions like future Call of Duty's and obviously Minecraft, but it's a safe bet to assume anything beyond that will not be releasing on PlayStation.

Most technical devices are black anyways, I can't understand why anyone makes a white console.
