Sigh so I was literally playing right now and there was a fellow noob who bought the game on sale just as I did. I went to go let him in my car but all of a sudden he starts shooting me so me being me I shot back thinking of no harm as it is GTA, but then this happens.

He starts typing "YOU F*cking NOOB! Y!" So I was like oh sh*t wtf you shot first lol, he initiates a 1v1 deathmatch and continues to types then I see this in the chat "Need help Blue? (player I was 1v1ing) and all of a sudden I'm getting pounded with rockets by of course an Oppressor mk2 mid deathmatch also I never even knew tht cld happen, *sigh* literally ruined my night I then go on to say stop killing me and blah blah blah and this guy thinks im the one whos just killing blue for fun and he stays defending his side while continuously killing me I then go on and state facts and he just goes "idc." "your friends are sh*t just like you" keep in mind im ONLY LVL14 like LOL wtf I barely even know how to deal with Oppressors. I then go on to report Lebae (not to sure the name now ik rank 126 though) and then I vote to kick the guy and next thing I see is this... "kick me??? really???" and then I'm booted off gta online NICE. I know my typing is off and format and all that but im just venting right now like GTA is made for fun is it not?? Blue I didnt even want to kill but he instantly thinks Im there to shoot him and fires at me. anyways I created an account here just to say this lol. Goodnight..

Welcome to GTA Online 😥

It never fails to amaze me, the amount of people who go nuts when you attack them, even though they initiated it. It's like GTA is a magnet for these idiots. I had someone around level 60 try to blow up my cargo a couple of nights back. Afterwards I went for him. I then got accused of harassing a lower ranked player (I'm around 130ish). I don't give a f*ck. If you attack my cargo you're getting spammed with missiles and I don't care how low your rank is. The funny thing is, this was a guy I added as a friend after doing a heist with him, as he seemed quite a capable guy that could handle himself well in heists, so I thought he'd be useful to have in the future. I almost choked on my coffee when I saw him attacking my cargo. Needless to say I unfriended him fairly lively.

Sounds like business as usual, lol. Best advice is to not bite and move on swiftly if you don't want others playing up.

Try invite only sessions by loading into story and selecting online from the pause menu. You can't access businesses to resupply/sell from but you can access all other game modes or run VIP work, MC contracts, nightclub promo's and casino freemode missions which are great early jobs to do alone to get used to the map and make decent bank to open up the game more.

You can also access heists, missions, races etc by hosting from the pause menu, though it will take a while to fill many jobs/modes unless on 2x, and even then, lol. But using 'On Call' on the mobile is a great way to get random jobs going too, though pot luck as to the type of player you'll find, lol.

When it comes to businesses, I'd Google 'GTAforums The Lone Wolf's Guide...' If your looking for more help there as it can be easy to spend where you might not need/want to yet. A great guide but I can't link it, sorry. :)

Yep thats gta online pc bussines as usual.

First they attack you, when you fight back they cry for help, when the help gets pounded to they get one of their scriptkid friends to break your game.

Leave freemode alone for now and do some contact missions you will rank up pretty quick and make some good money at a low rank if you join a 4 to 6 player mission you won't even need to do anything as the high rank guys will do all the work lol

This is good advice too. The Lamar missions are good for finding the ropes and getting into the swing of things.

Can the Los Santos Connection mission be done on a low rank? If so, it's a good one to do. It will obviously take a lot longer for a newbie, but all 3 parts are very doable. He could steal one of the buzzards parked outside the hanger to blow up all the vehicles. And the 20k+ payout is a nice little earner for a newbie.

Made for fun?! Errm..no, it's not made for fun.  It's made for money milking.  The whole game is literally screaming that all what a*star wants is your money and they don't even care that game isn't fun!

As for the behavior. I have to say it's not just GTA:O where you'll see how some people think it's so ok to attack you out of the blue, but it's not ok when you fight back or attack them out of the blue. Nowadays I see such attitude almost everywhere I go. Only difference is that in GTA:O I can see such attitude much more often than in other games.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do about it. In fact you have to either learn how to tolerate them or do what others have already told you. Play in invite only session and do a research about how to play GTA:O in solo public session.

That's just the nature of the beast. GTA Online is a crime simulator and more often than not you're gonna get blown up, sniped at, and road killed for just 'minding your own business.' I remember the early days when a rhino tank or buzzard chopper were our biggest problems. Or, when people would leave a sticky bomb outside Los Santos Customs and detonate it after we'd spent a lot of time and money on pimping our new rides.

We've all been at that point of feeling outgunned and outnumbered. The Nightshark is probably the best vehicle to counter the Opressor MK2. It might take a while to buy it but becoming a VIP for 50K is one way to help you make cash.

Nothing to do about it sadly, that's just the community the game has obtained over the years.

Pretty sure most of these twats were the average bullied kid at school who came back home to fulfill his power fantasy in SA, VC or any f-ing game he had because he was too much of a pussy to stand up to anyone (I mean, the griefer who called me a pussy in RDO had this silly nerd accent, pretty sure he was targeted by people irl)

Welcome to the sad fracking reality where some of the kids, who were bullied, becomes bullies. 🙄

As for being a pussy to stand up to anyone. Would you try to fight back when bully looks like a muscle mountain, who can fight like Jackie Chan, while you in comparison to bully look like a walking noodle, who can't fight like Jackie Chan?! (I'm not talking about you specifically) I doubt so. Even if some kids would try to fight back in such situation that could end much worse for them than trying to run away.

Of course this doesn't excuse the fact that some kids, who were bullied, now bullies literally everyone in online video games and/or in real life, but unfortunately that's how it is in this "wonderful" reality.

Oh yeah that was the point really, how most of these griefers usually have issues they just never got over with and they resort to being cunts in places where they can't be touched (in some cases they just let out their true evil nature online where there's no consecuences, kinda weird if you think about it how some people are so different due to the rules irl)

And me? well thankfully I was gifted with a strong mind and body but I do know some people weren't too lucky and others just take advantage of it.

I can understand their choice to be an a** in online video game because it's much easier to be an a** in online video game (especially in online game which provides everything that can help to bully others) than dealing with problems in real life.

In online video game they don't have to face the consequences of their actions, which can affect their real life for some time or even leaves visible traces for the rest of their life. In other words everything they do in video games stays in video games.

What I don't understand is how come people, who are around these kids, hasn't noticed this problem?! I doubt that all kids are capable to walk around with a poker face all the time and make everyone around them think that they are okay, when actually they are far from okay. Are they ignoring this problem or let it continue to go like that because they aren't able to help these kids?! Please don't tell me that they don't do anything just because they think this problem will go away itself!

Some will be, but it's just a bit of wish fulfillment to see them that way for the most part. It is easier to reconcile what you see as anti-social behaviour towards you by imagining the perpetrator as some kind of horrible kid who is taking revenge for a lifetime of being bullied. Fact is, it's just a game and 99.9% of players will be pretty normal, well-adjusted people in real life.

I'm a middle-aged, married, professional engineer with three kids, but even I will cut loose occasionally and go on a griefing spree, just for kicks. Not all the time, but sometimes I do. It's a bit of stress relief and five minutes later, it doesn't mean a jot.

I took a 10-minute break and here I am. Apologies, but this thread is totally cringe-worthy and laughable. How can something like this make headline on the GTA forums? The game has been out for SIX years. Sort it out!

This is like me picking up Fortnite for the first time and expecting:

  • To find a nice little house in the woods that passersby can randomly wander into for a cuppa, dance moves or a friendly chat. You never know, it could happen.
  • Play fantastically better than everyone else and win the entire Battle Royale.

My tip to the OP is simple: don't wander up to random people in the street and expect an exchange of civilities. Message them first to find out if they want to be passive or friends. After all, people are dicks.

I remember when I first started playing GTA Online (shortly after it launched on the XBox 360), I didn't know that there was a private session option. I kept starting out in public accept the contact mission on my phone and run it with my friend. The problem we had was once the mission ended and we went back to freeroam, it was a public session. One time we delivered a package to Gerald and were dropped in the alley behind his apartment. As we were standing there discussing our next course of action, someone rolled into the alley with a tank and shot up point blank. Now, keep in mind, we were still noobs in regards to playing GTA online and the interaction between players. We were so focused on our style that we didn't even think about others running up and gunning us down simply for being in their proximity. Shortly after that, I found out how to play in a invite/friend session and we've been playing there ever since.

My advice to you, Embo503, stay in private sessions with friends.

One thing is to go on a griefing spree occasionally, but it's completely another thing to go constantly on a griefing spree regardless of the reason.

Yeah, unfortunately there's also this. Fact that some people are jerks simply because they love to be like that without any specific, serious and/or understandable reason. Another "nice" addition of the sad fracking reality. 🙄

Actually that was my friend, who was this unlucky until I enlightened him that there's an option to block this player. Since then he doesn't have problems.

After my first month of playing, I can safely say that my first impressions of GTA online is very hostile and unfriendly - and while the community does accept there is an issue with the way things are, they're not really actually taking a stand against it - usually responding with "Welcome to GTA Online - where you'll get nuked by 50+ Oppressor griefers before you even have a chance to get the cheapest pistol in the game, so learn how to deal with them".

As a new player I've found that since getting a MC club business up & running it's become impossible to get any missions done in a lobby where there's as little as 3 other people - because one of them WILL be a griefer who zeroes in on you the moment you attempt to do anything at all to make any money - meaning that I've since spent 90%+ of my playtime in GTA playing in a solo public lobby just trying to raise funds enough to try and get enough income to cover expenses and weapons of some sort to defend myself - I would say that 98% of all the income I've made in a month came from last week's bonus cash from the MC club business bonuses and discounts on the upgrade - but even so, it's not enough to actually obtain any weaponised vehicle to defend myself from griefers (not that I could use them on delivery missions anyway - outside the custom speedo that comes with the nightclub).

If the decent players joined forces we could make things a LOT better for newer players to get up to enough of a playing level to actually stand a chance - but unitl the playerbase is willing to do that - you'll likely find that 95% of new players will remain in solo public lobbies just to avoid being griefed every 30 seconds.

Honestly my first experience wasn't much better either. I was a low rank player, who every time was killed by a higher rank player. I couldn't even steal a car in public session, because I had to constantly fight back or run away from these higher rank players, who tried to kill me. And just you try to walk out of your property in public session. In 99% cases you'll be killed right in front of your property. How?! Well I guess some bored player had nothing better to do than wait when I or other low rank player will come out of his property. 🙄 This is why I stopped playing GTA:O for some time. Later I decided to do a research and found out that there's an invite only session. Played in that session and realized that it's not a great session for a solo player, because you can't do much in it. Yes, yes, there's a peace from griefers, but that's the only beauty of that session if you don't have friends, who also play this game. Then I did a research about solo public session. Finally I was getting somewhere. There's just one but about that solo public session. People still can join you in any time.

In short there are 3 options what people can do in such cases:

1) Block griefers (This should work if griefers aren't cheaters who somehow can bypass everything)

2) Play in invite only session. (It's better if in this case you have friends, who could help you with heists, because, as much as I know, contact missions doesn't pay much and I doubt that low rank players has Terrorbyte)

3) Play in a solo public session. (But if you don't know how to make it into a complete solo session then you should be ready that others can join you any time, even if you have a strict NAT type.)

P.S.

Somehow I've got an impression that only cheaters and griefers had a great first experience with GTA:O.

Blocking people doesn't actually block them in-game. They can still appear in your session and they can still attack you. It only blocks them from messaging you, or on social club or whatever. Rockstar needs to address this. If I want to block someone, I want to block them in every way possible.

Seriously?! 🙄 Damn you a*star for that! What's the point of blocking option if the only thing I can prevent with it is my inbox turning into a spam box?!

In that case I have to say that my friend has been extremely lucky after he blocked that griefer, who was constantly chasing him, because he hasn't seen that griefer since the day he blocked him.

I didn't realise this at first either. I was doing I/E in a solo public session, and I didn't realise that someone had joined. Some higher rank dick, camped outside my warehouse shot me out through the window and stole my car. So I went to block him, only to discover that I already had him blocked 😂

Yeah, f*ck you Rockstar. That's such a useful feature 🙄

Another proof that all they care about is how to milk money out of their customers. 🙄

Thanks for telling me that blocking feature is basically useless. At least now I know that there isn't any point to recommend it in griefing cases.

P.S.

I don't defend EA, especially not after what they did with my favorite video game franchises, but even they aren't so shameless as Rockstar is.
