I wonder how much work it would be for them to actually bring Mexico fully into the same and release a remastered RDR original expansion for RDR2. These models suggest, not much.

The danger unfortunately is that all their map artists are now fully devoted to GTA VI.

So I'm wandering through mexico today, cuz this topic inspired me to screw around down there, and much to my extreme surprise I scared a single tiny bird off of a cactus on the far south side near sidewinder gulch due south of the I in River. Its the only other living creature I've seen out here so far

i managed to bring an iguana to the other side once in the san luis river around the del lobo rock, shot and started tracking it keeping it in sight, and i drowned just as it reached the mexican side.

You got me thinking. Apart from birds which seems to be able to fly anywhere out of bounds. Does NP have animal roaming paths coded in?

We know that out of bounds animals just stand around because they havent got instructions to go anywhere. We need to spawn some animals in on PC version and test this out. Because if it does have roaming, then that's telling me that the idea of NP was at the very least toy'd with late in development.

That and there's still ambient dog barks and animal SFX in parts of NP too.

If we take a look inside the navmeshes, we'll know if there are any disabled paths. I'm looking into it.

It definitely has something to do with the world/map boundary. Since as soon as you leave it, animals & peds just stand on the spot. (apart from birds who arent bound to two directions only)

I tried putting the Stagecoach on a path, and then aimed my gun to let the AI control the coach, but I just ended up keeping straight, and not staying on the path

This is like Bully 2 all over again- all this evidence that Rockstar was working on something awesome and then scrapped the project because fee-to-pay dogsh*t is more lucrative.

it's very sad to see.

the creative side of Rockstar clearly wants to expand on this world they've created. the business side of Rockstar cares only about shark cards, gold bars, and microtransactions.

Managed to get my horse out here by leaving her on the mexico shoreline, then passing out to get to mexico and whistling for her over at the boat dock across from Brittlebrush Trawl.

The temperature range in mexico seems to vary more than anywhere else in the map, with nights being in the 30s while afternoon gets up to like 75-80

With that being said, what about Guarma's Out of Bounds? Animals have AI there.

Indeed. Guarma doesn't have an out of bounds as such. Even the low poly part allows animals to freeroam if placed there. I guess it being an island means it doesnt need boundaries.

Possible indication that Guarma was supposed to be waaaay bigger than planned. Here's hoping for Mexico!

No. It’s been a year since the original release. If they were doing any sort of SP DLC they would have said something.

And they’re definitely not doing anything for the anniversary. With each separate GTA anniversary, they got lazier and lazier.

Special thanks to The Benz for introducing Rockstar and Take Two to GTAO, instead of settling for another GTA IV or RDR type multiplayer.

Oddly enough, what convinced me this game wasn’t truly finished was this: there’s a bath tub at Beecher’s Hope, but you can’t bathe in it. It’s so glaringly obvious that this was supposed to be implemented at some point.

Maybe Abigail would be the deluxe bather, and John would have cute little conversations with her. Or maybe it would be Uncle, providing some good comedy.

Different studios.
Rockstar San Diego = Red Dead
Rockstar North = GTA
Rockstar Vancouver = Bully

Yes, I'm sure they have people who work on all titles, that move where they are needed. But each game has it's own studio/staff.

Could it be that the game was already taking a long time in development? What was it? 8 years that they were working on this thing. Could it be that they decided they couldn't sit on it any longer?
Nah... has to be malice and evil, greedy intentions. They just want that keshkurd monies (conveniently ignores how ridiculously easy it is to make money in this game).

So there is a good way to get to Mexico now or?

I’m aware that different studios take the lead on different titles. However my understanding is pretty much the whole company worked on GTA V and RDR2, unlike RDR and GTA IV, as the games have become much bigger and more detailed.

Well all things considered, had it not been for the microstransactions Rockstar wouldn't have implemented any of the old map (bar West Elizabeth) to start with. You've got to be crazy to think they'd have even bothered with New Austin if they weren't concerned with the size of the playable area in Online.

Not to sound like I condone Rockstar's current business practices, but all you need to do is look at the leaked map from 2015 to see the writing on the wall.

you seem to be confused.

we're talking about single player DLC. the game is already developed. it's finished. you don't "sit on" DLC. it comes after the game is released.

how "easy it is" to make money in the game is clearly your opinion.

Rockstar is banking on the fact that most people have real lives and cannot sit around grinding Red Dead Online (or GTAO) which is exactly why they make more money from microtransactions than they will ever make from one-off DLC... which is why they're more concerned with easy money than additional story content. they tease ideas about DLC when Kotaku comes calling. then they turn around and announce that all of their focus will be Online only. it's painfully simple. I'm not sure why you're trying to be cute and naive and pretend that they're so innocent of the same folly that has swallowed most of the video game landscape today. grow up, kid.

It wasn't showing in Hex (but most of the file was encrypted) so it's probably there.

I wonder if they just scrapped it all because they didn't have the hi def models done in time

I can understand the design decision if it just looks better absent than as low def garbage. Some PS3 ass looking town surrounded by a lush 4k resolution desert wouldn't look right

Nice finds, i honestly wouldn't be surprised if a mexico DLC was and/or is planned, it simply doesn't make sense that they modeled such a big part of the unreachable area, even parts behind hill's you'd never see when inside the bounds. (so its not like they only did it due to the large draw distance in the game, because then they would just cut away anything you dont see to save space & resources)

Btw, the amount of people spewing salt in this thread is kinda odd, you guys do realize the amount of time and effort that went into the normally accessible parts of the map right? and how R* makes the games and T2 decides what will be microtransactions/future dlc? Also nobody's pointing a gun to your head making you play this or buy future dlc? calm down jeez.
