YouTube copyright claim by "Illustrated Sound Music"

Im sorry but just no to this.
I've had work stolen from me and 'got wronged' on several occasions (across several google platforms) and google support people ALWAYS dealt with it accordingly.

Let me preface this by saying that im not saying YOU (or the topic poster) are like this, but the main problem entire generations are having with the internet is they think they can send some angry mails and get help, they forget that at the other end there's a person too, and if you act like a d*ck your ticket just goes back to the bottom of the pile, or gets closed because "f- you too i have another 500 tickets to look at"

My suggestion to the poster: Send a friendly and to the point message to youtube, include sources like that tweet you dug up, this thread, etc. Make a strong case and ask them to act. Based on my experience i would assume that within a few hours the culprit is banned from youtube and your video's are yours again.

^ Well, people don't have to be friendly while reporting issues like this one, but it's totally possible to be polite. Being polite is one of the things that separates Adults from Manchildren.

If your message is on point and written in a polite way, it will be easy to process it for the support engineer. A wall of angry text never helps.

 

The worst situation is when an angry customer sends mutliple requests that contain nothing but the same complaints over and over and over.

It's hard to deal with this mess and most likely requests like these are going to be delayed / prolonged / ignored. Depends on the service you are dealing with.

 

If one channel of communication doesn't work, it's better to search for another channel.

Google and Youtube do have issues, but everything is known in comparison. For example, have you tried dealing with Bethesda?

The point I was making is that the site is called Youtube. It was meant to be a site where any average joe posts content that anyone can watch. A site where anyone could be a successful creator if they got the creativity and the grit to see it through.

Its what the whole site was about, hence the name. Yet the people they been putting front and center were corporations and big Hollywood celebrities. People who are already big and/or famous and not promote the little guy who needs it most. Do an experiment. Sign out of your account on Youtube then go to the home page. Tell me what you see.

They may as well be honest and change the site's name because its not about the little guy anymore. Everything they do now flies in the face of the name and became the polar opposite of what the site stood for, yet still keep the name as if things haven't changed.

I’ve got nothing against this attitude but the point is if you file a dispute, it doesn’t even get seen by YouTube. It goes direct to the copyright “holder”.

 

This creates a bit of a problem if it’s possible for people to spuriously claim copyright on stuff they don’t actually own. If they are doing it with pre meditated fraud in mind it doesn’t matter whether you are rude, polite or otherwise. They’ll reject your dispute and there is nothing you can do. In this case, the only way they’ll get done is if R*/Take2 realise and go after them.

 

Fortunately in this case Illustrated Sound Music retracted the claims, so it seems fair to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a genuine automation error. But you have to wonder how easy this would be for people to run a genuine fraud from. Something YouTube ought to get a grip on.
