One thing that bugs me a little is that I don't think the term "speakeasy" was used until Prohibition but I could be wrong. Minor detail I guess....

Actually, in the US, it dates back to the 1880's. It was a term used for unlicensed saloons. Yes, I did Google it earlier, to see if R* were off their rockers. Apparently not. (for once)

Don't forget to get some collections done and keep them safe. Then on update day, when the Wheeler Rawson Pass goes live (provided you get it) sell your collections and use that XP to power level up.

I'm saving my collections for the next payout bonus but this'll be a good backup plan if the deadline is imminent and I haven't finished the pass.

We should get an emote in which we smoke a pipe too! (In fact now that I think of it, smoking cigarettes and cigars should come in the form of an emote too... I hate how we take just a puff and throw the fag away...)

Sod the pipe smoking emote. We should simply be able to smoke a pipe.

And not a quick puff and throw like with cigarettes & cigars. These also need addressing.

When sitting at the poker table or around a fire we should be able to sit and puff away like the NPC's do.

But yes I really want a pipe. A selection of pipes! A big ol' meerschaum calabash will do me.

[Edit] But of course R* wouldn't want to glamourise smoking (glamorize if you use that US version of English). Murder's fine, but not smoking!

The phrase, "speak softly shop", meaning a "smuggler's house", appeared in a British slang dictionary published in 1823. The similar phrase "speak easy shop", denoting a place where unlicensed liquor sales were made, appeared in a British naval memoir written in 1844. The precise term "speakeasy" dates from no later than 1837 when an article in the Sydney Herald newspaper in Australia referred to 'sly grog shops, called in slang terms "speakeasy's" [sic] in this part - Boro Creek.

In the United States, the word emerged in the 1880s. The earliest recorded use is from an 1889 newspaper, "Unlicensed saloons in Pennsylvania are known as 'speak-easies'." They were "so called because of the practice of speaking quietly about such a place in public, or when inside it, so as not to alert the police or neighbors". The term is reported to have originated with saloon owner Kate Hester, who ran an unlicensed bar in the 1880s in the Pittsburgh area town of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, often telling her rowdy customers to "speak easy" to avoid attention from authorities. Many years later, in Prohibition-era America, the "speakeasy" became a common name to describe a place to get an illicit drink.

Different names for speakeasies were created. The terms "blind pig" and "blind tiger" originated in the United States in the 19th century. These terms were applied to establishments that sold alcoholic beverages illegally, and they are still in use today. The operator of an establishment (such as a saloon or bar) would charge customers to see an attraction (such as an animal) and then serve a "complimentary" alcoholic beverage, thus circumventing the law.

In desperate cases it has to betake itself to the exhibition of Greenland pigs and other curious animals, charging 25 cents for a sight of the pig and throwing in a gin cocktail gratuitously.

[They] are in a mysterious place called a blind tiger, drinking the very bad whiskey for which Prohibition is indirectly responsible.

"Blind tiger" also referred to illegal drinking establishments in which the seller's identity was concealed.

A drawer runs into a wall of what appears to be a billiard saloon. You pull out the drawer, drop in your change, shove the drawer back, call for what you want and then pull out the drawer again and there it is, "Straight" or "Spiked" just as you'd have it. Nobody is heard or seen, and the blind tiger, apparently without any keeper, works like a charm.

"Borrowed" from Wiki . . .

A big cigar works too but there is something with smoking a pipe!

So  my thoughts are, since it's an addition to the Trader, we'll have to buy a Moonshining-table for our camp or we'll get one when buying the license/role.

From there on, we can deliver distillery-supplies at our camp where the liquor is being made.

Then the produced liquor can be delivered at our Speakeasy where it's being sold to the costumers and from here on you're seeing some profit.

If you didn't bought a Speakeasy yet, the produced liquor can be sold like the normal Trading business missions...

Speculation offcourse, but what do you think?

You have to purchase a Moonshining Shack, nothing is going to be done at camp. As far as operation, it'll be the standard fetch supplies, wait for brewing, go sell.

Purchase a Moonshining Shack and you will be on your way. To passers-by, the Shack is an unassuming dwelling, the main floor acting as a front with all the details of an ordinary homestead. The basement, however, is where you'll ultimately get down to business.

I feel the speakeasy is just going to be RDO's  version of the Nightclub, it sounds all too familiar. Customizable decor, dance floor, country band (which I'm sure you'll be able to hire new ones, just like with the DJ's).

The big question is, will it have the passive income that's based on popularity (mundane promo missions).

I think they tied it to the Trader Role to use the Trader's Deliver Wagon. (After all becoming a Trader gets you the Small Delivery Wagon)

The Moonshiner Still used by the Moonshiner Role/business would be located in the Moonshiner's Shack, not Camp. (However I could see a small still being added to Camp Equipment for personal use not tied to the business) At higher ranks we might have the option to purchase additional stills to produce multiple types of liquor simultaneously.

The supplies would be delivered to the Shack. (One thing I wish they would have done was added a Farmer Role. That way we could grow corn to either sell, or use to make moonshine)  Unlike Cripps that only does Materials-> Goods, we might have influence on which recipes are brewed. Besides Distant/Local Sells, there could be Special Orders that have to be fulfilled. (Such as a Buyer wants ×30 Moonshine, ×10 Rum, ×15 Whiskey)

The Speakeasy could provide an optional way of selling the liquor later into the role. Instead of having only Sell missions, the Speakeasy could passively sell our stock over time, with the profits being placed into a safe for us to collect.

I’m hoping that we get to unlock an upgraded delivery wagon as well, one that we can then use for Trader sales.

do local deliveries, at every point you can. doesnt matter if the money isnt good or the bar isn't full or not, youll rank up quick

they should add roles that you have to trade with other players and do deals. like heists, you set a price and others can either agree or not buy. you meet a certain spot, exchange and go seperate ways. you should also be able to try to scam or rob them.

Man its been a long time since I've been on here or Red Dead Online, but the man on the right.....if this is an outfit with bandoliers attached to the outfit......it doesn't look like it goes together with that vest.....I could be wrong though. I'm holding out hope that we may get bandoliers seperately at least and survival at some point.

Now the Moonshiner roles is interesting, but I agree with some others on here that it brings back some bad memories from GTAO. Hopefully its a pretty fun role that is at least worth the time and effort. I think it might be as lucrative as the Trader Role, but I don't expect anything on the level of Collector in terms of money anytime soon.

This moon-shining sh*t IS new content but it's given to us in the exact same way everything else has been given to the players. RDO is an online western game about fetch questing, plain and simple. All I've done in this game since the beginning is fetch quests, go deliver this, go pick up that, go kill him, go bring her back, there is little to no reason to do any of this besides getting paid for it, there is hardly an online story narrative that should have set up a foundation for WHY we were doing all this boring ass hunting and fetching for over a year now... Where is the great story telling from Single Player? because now I don't care about a single NPC or Mission giver in RDO. They are all lifeless. F'k most of the god damn map is lifeless besides the same handful of animals/random events respawning everywhere. There are a lot of empty homesteads and farms, the only places that seem like they are "alive" are the very few major towns in the game.

The player customization is minimal, we're still very restricted in what we can do with our appearance and clothing and about the best color choices we get is black, brown, or white.. everything else is trapped inside an "outfit" or it's this flamboyant over-the-top clothing that I honestly expected from a Saints Row game not R*. Horses are cool and all but there is hardly any customization to them. I see the same horses and ugly ass saddles EVERYWHERE because they are "the best items to have."

R* has screwed this game up beyond repair, and they know it. That's why they are simply slow rolling the players and putting out this mediocre content over and over again.

Rockstar did a good job with the snow for RDO. I like how it won't snow where it doesn't make sense, and that it's not just a filter. I hope they also added winter clothing for Valentine residents, or at least removed outdoor spawn for prostitutes and other NPCs that wear sleeveless clothing.

At this point who knows, maybe you can upgrade it to a speakeasy after some time? If that's the case, it better be a big "shack" to be able to have a band, dance floor and whatever else.

I'm sure R* knows they've screwed their game that's just over a year old 🙄. Beyond repair? They're adding story missions to Moonshiners, addressing the very issue you're complaining about. Relax a little.

If it takes you over a year to finally get to the point of your product... sorry, but you have failed and you are now trying to fix your mistakes lol even after all these updates a casual gamer can complete RDO in just a handful of weeks. Gaining high rank is irrelevant since it only unlocks cosmetics and unnecessary items.

So, I'll believe it when I see it, RDO cares about one thing at this point and it sure as hell isn't story telling anymore. They are pushing the typical GTAO design and will continue to do so. We're going to get an introduction to the Moonshine business and then maybe two more interactions with that lady and will probably end with us taking over the rival's business or something. Then it will be fetch quest, fetch quest, fetch quest, all so I can throw more RDO$ and gold bars into my giant stockpile hoping that R* finally releases some content that we can spend all this stored up currency on.

There is no over arcing story that is compelling us to gather money and gold bars.. there is nothing to look down the road at and strive to achieve, I've already unlocked and achieved it all.. there is NOTHING for me to do in this game any longer. Yeah, maybe the Moonshiner role will bring me back for about a week but once it's completed there is nothing to achieve anymore... no story lines waiting to be finished or updated... just hoping R* releases a new role or some clothing or accessories..

I just hope the upper floor of the moon shine shack is a home that actually looks livable versus some burnt out dump. R did say that there would be a homestead on the top floor and yes I know while that may not excite everyone I am actually more excited about the possibility of having a home than a business.

It'd also be nice it's we could check the interior first. I bought one house in gta and sold it back 5 minutes later.

Sometimes you just have to rely on youtube or watching someones stream to figure out what the different looks are.

Sorta like camp themes. Here's a preview of a table.... what about the REST of the theme?
