If we got the announcement of the RDO update today do you think we will get the one about GTAO on Thursday? Could we even get the GTAO release next Tuesday?

Even if we do get invite only lobbies, I'm pretty sure you'll only be able to do sell missions in public lobbies

Sounds pretty good, I'm definitely going to buy-in but a coup!e things:

It looks like the deliveries could be a little treacherous which is fine, I don't want everything to be simple, but give me a chance to avoid detection like traveling only at night for example.

There was no such thing as a "country band" in 1898, the music they listened and danced to was simply the popular music of the time. I hope this isn't an attempt to modernize the music.

Not necessarily.

  • Local Sell: Private and Public Lobbies
  • Distant Sell: Public Lobbies

Or they alter the Distant Sell to be:

  • Public Lobby Distant Sell: Players can attack on the way to the drop off
  • Private Lobby Distant Sell: Waves of NPCs will attack on the way to the drop off

In a Public Lobby you might get attacked by other players. In Private Lobby you're guaranteed to be attacked by NPCs.

Something like The Dead South, Sierra Ferrell or Charley Crockett would suit me just fine...

Well owning a property is a step in the right direction, I'm really hoping soon we can own a ranch or something and have a rustler type role to build up horses and cattle and sell them ect.

That's all good stuff but if they go that route they may as well bring in recordings by the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers. That's about as close to the timeline as recorded "country" music gets.

Looks like the Durham coat to me.  But really I'd like to know what that rifle wrap is!  That's not currently in the game right?  I love the red accents on it.

What bothers me is the fact that we get to own first a Moonshine Shack instead of a house or a more stablished place to live. Don't get me wrong, while the DLC seems to be a bit smaller than Frontier Pursuits, I still like the idea a lot and makes me more interested on buying the game (not only because of the singleplayer campaign) but for me it seems weird to acquire a business before a proper house.

Hope it has some form of a living area, if possible not in the basement (I don't think that's too much comfy, but yes, it is still better than a camp nowhere close to a town).

Did some googling for 1898s music. And this is just genius.

"Collectors who find the Ace of Swords, Gran Corazon Madeira and 1800 Gold Dollar can return the completed Gambler's Choice Collection to Madam Nazar for a substantial sum."

What would be that substantial sum though? Because I've yet to see an advantage to go for smaller collections than keeping up to sell official collections.

Really hoping u can eventually swap different coats on ur horses .. a black thoroughbred would be awesome

To change the color of my Gold Turkoman's coat would be a nice addition. And even it it is a temporary win, we'll be able to own a property and not have to worry about camps or how they are mysteriously packed up and moved to parts unknown.

About damn time Traders got something... though it'd have been nice if it was just an extension to the role, rather than a entirely new role.... but at least there's something to do while grinding XP for the second outlaw pass.

Hope they keep the 1k per level thing as it really helps those of us who get bored easily with this turkey of a game. I mean... no new PvE missions yet again from the sound of things. -_-

It's just gonna be jarring

Sums up how I feel about the update, at least until we know more.

I'm not excited, at all, about the probable introduction of coronas and loading screens when entering buildings. It's not 100% that this will be the case, but several players owning the same property with different interior options in each lobby, and this being R*, means that it's more likely than not.

Even more jarring is the interruption to the flow of the game. So far everything has revolved around being out in the world, Bounty hunting has you travelling from town to town, board to board, Collecting is a map wide activity when done effectively, Trader ties you to camp, but when it's working you can move camp to wherever you want to hunt.

Moonshiners is going to be the first time in RDO that we will be tied to a location, you can't move your underground Speakeasy, it will have to be resupplied, maintained, defended and sold from.

It's a development I considered inevitable, but I think it's so early in the life of RDO for such an addition, it feels premature. We've been roaming the world for 13 months, 10 of which we had almost nothing to do and now, 3 months after getting a Bounty hunting license, buying a shovel and metal detector and starting a trading company out of our camp we will have a fixed location moonshine distillery and underground Speakeasy? Before even clearing our name after being framed and escaping from custody (no R*, I've not forgotten that loose end)?

I wonder how long we'll have to wait for more Jessica LeClerk and/or Tom Davies missions? But I'm still holding onto the hope that we'll get Legendary Animals in Online, much like the different legendary animals from Red Dead Redemption's story mode, and Red Dead's multiplayer.

I wouldn't count on that.

Buy the look of the artwork, we'll surely have to buy that 2 horses wagon... tipical R* fashion :/

I am a bit disappointed by this update being a single role though. I was hoping we'd get another three: Farmer, Moonshiner, Rancher. This update could have offered duality for the new property. Not to mention:

"To passers-by, the Shack is an unassuming dwelling, the main floor acting as a front with all the details of an ordinary homestead."

The Farmer/Rancher roles would have sold the property as an ordinary homestead to passersby and lawman. Plus the Farmer Role be used to supply the Moonshiner Role with the ingredients to make the moonshine, while the Rancher Role could be used to supply Cripps Trading Co. with Animal Materials. If the Moonshiner's Bar sold meals, the Farmer/Rancher could also provide the ingredients for the meals.

There are new PvE missions:

"You’ll also work with Maggie through a series of story missions to be played solo or cooperatively as you help her get revenge on those who tried to take her down."

There's a good chance that "put rival peddlers out of business" and "As you grow the business (and eliminate a rival operation)" isn't referencing PvP a shift in focus, but the PvE missions.

Except the wagon in the artwork looks like it's the Trader's Large Delivery Wagon... Since the Moonshiner Role branches off the Trader Role, it's possible that it's using the same delivery wagon. If you already own the Large Delivery Wagon as a Trader, you might not have to buy it again a Moonshiner.

Oh waow that's something we can definitely agree on !

In fact I'd like it if we had different bands in different places. Appalachian music in Roanoke, Texas music in Tumbleweed etc.

A lotta people freaking out over sh*t we don't know yet. Personally I'm excited to see the evolution of pursuits in the form of solo story missions, something sorely missing from the first 3 roles. I'm 100% all in on this and I don't give a f*ck if I have to teleport into my residence or if I have to treat it like Cripp's business. Looking forward to the 13th!

Yep, yep, yep yep. Bang on all accounts.

For me personally I enjoyed the Roles update so much, and the Collector so much, because I was able to progress my character and all the roles by doing what I want. I had a ton of fun exploring for collectables while doing open world content (hideouts, events) and my dailies as I explored. It's a great way to play RDO and even more structured content like BH and Trader retains a lot of this freedom for the reasons you say.

The update was good (technical issues aside, we all know what they are) because it not only introduced variety into the game but encouraged it. We don't know what operating your speakeasy will entail yet but if it does have a system where you have to actively keep something stocked to operate it then it will do the complete opposite of what the first three roles did so well - it will discourage variety.
