(I'm really sorry, but I just can't seem to find the words to explain this right now.)

You're not alone; that happens to me way too often.

Anyway, I use Vista which is just an unpolished version of 7, and it remembers what size and position windows are in. So follow my method: Just do it over and over again until it works. It usually does for me.

I've actually tried setting it where I want it, and then closing out. But if I already have one explorer window open, it just opens the new one on top of the old one.

In the long run, it's really not a big deal. But it would make my life a whole helluva lot easier if 7 just remembered where I had each window set.

Anybody here familiar with Graphic Tablets? I'm interested in buying one; It'd be valuable to the course I'm doing (design) but the bulk of what i'll use it for will be for hobby and skill boosting. It'll hopefully benefit me in both work and recreational use. I'm looking to spend up to £100 (due to the fact I need to bear in mind the £180 i'll probably spend on CS6) but is this enough for a decent tablet? I've looked at prices and they vary from £60 to the hundreds, I know that the more expensive ones are going to packed with more features, better build quality, more mechanics etc. but how important are these extras? I imagine it's similar to most gadgets like tablets and phones where you can buy them cheaply but ultimately you're better off buying the more expensive ones because they'll just work better or am I wrong? Is the tech only as good as my skill and imagination? Does anyone have any recommendations if my price point is good enough? Any buying advice at all really. Thanks!

Let's say that I want to buy a new PC, and I want to use to play games.

And I like to play just the new games, with those awesome graphics.

So, what's the minimum specs does this PC must have?

Depends on what new games, Intel or AMD CPU, nVidia or AMD/ATI graphics, and budget

I mean the games that requires the highest configs.

I want a PC with the better configs, which one can allow me to play ALL of the games.

In every version prior to Windows Vista, there was a feature that would remember the size and location of each individual 'Explorer' Window. In Windows Vista/7, the feature was removed. Now Windows will only remember the size and location of one window at a time. I'm looking for a way to get around this inconvenience, anyone have a suggestion?

This has been bugging me a lot lately, and I finally found a work around for those interested. It's not perfect, but Microsoft isn't going to fix it anytime soon. (They claim it's an intentional 'feature' and therefore will not fix it.)

ShellFolder Fix I seriously recommend this app, as it is virtually invisible on your system, and works like a charm.

Edit: Edited my original question, so it would make a little more sense.

Anyone know a good, free, video editing program? I need to put together a "end of the world" sequence together for school, and Movie Maker isn't cutting it.

I'm looking to buy a laptop for my university course, I'll mostly use it for internet browsing and some programming, but I would also like if it could play fairly recent games (skyrim, gta 4) at low medium settings. I don't know too much about pc's being a console gamer, so I'm looking for some advice. I wouldn't like to spend much over £550, however I recently saw this for a rather cheap price:

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11936175/a...e-p750-15l.html

So my question is, would this be able to play the games mentioned above with decent fps on low-medium settings, and do you think this is a good deal or can anyone recommend me a better laptop with similar specs for under £550?

That would run both GTA IV and Skyrim no problems, you might be able to squeeze some higher settings out of that as well.

To be honest looking at the specs and the price that's a pretty good bargain to be honest.

When the next gen (or gen after that) Intel CPUs come out, will they make a new motherboard for each generation and is there any possibility of using a Z77 mobo to use the next gen processors?

Intel Haswell CPUs are due to come out more or less in a year. They will use brand new socket (LGA1150), so current LGA1155 mobos won't support these CPUs. However, LGA1155/LGA1156 heatsinks can be mounted onto LGA1150 socket. Then, after Haswell there will be Broadwell also using LGA1150. The generation after Broadwell will probably use new socket again.

I've read Intel is doing a socket change for their Haswell E/EP but instead of a physical socket change like mainstream Haswell running on socket 1150. The high end Haswell will still use socket 2011. This socket 2011 however will either have a different pin layout or just wired differently, making current socket 2011 CPUs like SNB-E not compatible with it. And if anyone has a socket 2011 board and want to use Haswell-E/EP, well you will have to get yourself a new motherboard even thought it's still socket 2011.

Talk about Intel screwing with the consumer, but this is a taking to the extremes. lol.gif

It happened again, I was updating my video card and for some reason my computer crashed. System recovery doesn't help and windows has to be reinstalled again. But I don't know which version. I was thinking about 8, but does it still work when the preview period is over? If I buy a key (I heard it was 20 euro if you upgrade from 7) do I have to reinstall windows again?

I plan on upgrading the PC Case, so far this is what really caught my eye, any comments or some other recommendations? (the budget is around 60$)

The specifications I am looking for are:

-Black Color (also interior)

-PSU Down

-Transparent Side Panel

This is pretty much what is going to hold.

Cases are cases these days, in as far as what they can hold as they pretty much follow a standard. Unless you are going for some micro setup or maxi setup, but these are more clearly labeled as such.

So with that in mind it really is just down to the looks and also fans, which again they are pretty standard.

That case looks good though, so what ever floats your boat.

I am looking for a good air flow, my current setup is overheating like hell.

Do you have any case fans? If you do buy a new case, get a full case that has quite a few 120/140mm fan slots, then add some 120/140mm fans, they're relatively cheap. The case you posted has a fan in the window, so that should help quite a bit with cooling.

Looks good compared to other similarly priced cases in this shop.

Random quick question vaguely on par with the last one.

What does the 120 or 140mm fan correspond to?

Obviously it means size but in terms of what do they measure exactly.

Corner to diagonal corner, actual fan diameter?

Pretty sure it's horizontal and vertical, and it related to the hole spacing. Nothing to do with the size of the actual fan blades.

Yup. For example 120mm means that the screw holes create a square 120x120mm.

Didn't have the urge to make a useless topic so I'll ask here.

I recently traded in my 19'' LCD for a 19'' Wide , I was wondering what resolution would best suit for gaming? On my old LCD I was using 1280 x 960, which gave me a nice cinematic like resolution on games like Assassin's Creed Revelation's GTA EFLC and the likes , something like this Referring to how the screen looks on the top and bottom.

So is there a resolution which I can use on a 19'' Wide, which would suit my needs, any suggestions, the LCD's recommended resolution and default is 1440 x 900.

Go with 1440x900. I have a 19" widescreen LCD too and that's what I use (that's my max resolution). Works perfectly fine.

If it supports anything higher than 1440x900, go with that, but it's pretty rare for a 19" widescreen to support anything more than 1440x900 at the most afaik.

Well I just tried TLAD on 1440x900, isn't bad.

Also how much of an impact does resolution have on a game. While I'm at it, I was wondering could someone tell me what difference does 60 Hz, 75 Hz make? and what is Texture Filter Quality?

Pic of GTA EFLC Settings

The amount of memory has been edited in the commandline file.

Also, was it wise to trade in a regular 19'' for a wide?

Resolution has a pretty big impact on performance.

60Hz means that the display refreshes the image 60 times per second. 75Hz - 75 times per second.

Texture filtering is just what it says - it filters the textures to make them look better.

I noticed I hardly get any lag, in Sleeping Dogs I even played Max Payne 3 at high with 80 fps but SR 3 doesnt run even on low without lag, my specs are

Pentium D 3.4 GHz

Nvidia Geforce GT 220

3 GB RAM

Is it the game itself or my system?

It's the game and your PC. It's a bad port and your system is pretty low end anyway.

And the only person you are kidding is yourself if you think you run Max Payne 3 on high at 80fps avg, considering a large majority of midrange gaming graphics cards can't do that.
