That joystick looks pretty good. I still have an old joystick in the loft somewhere as I used to love playing MS Combat Flight Simulator and I still have the CD.

I'm gonna have to reinstall it sometime but I don't know what it'll be like in Windows 7. Last time it was installed was on a Windows 98 machine which was a very long time ago.

This one is really random:

What happens (hypothetically speaking) if I have more than 26 partitions, what will be the drive letters; AA, A1 or nothing?

If you can wade through the crap on this page then it answers your question and a little more, Here you go.

In essence it's possible but you just wouldn't be able to see them in Explorer as it will only display 26 drives (actually you'll get 24 partitions as A and B are legacy Floppy letters.) You will be able to see them in Disk Management.

Interesting thing i noted on my Laptop.

If i un-plug the charger everything gets a yellowy hue to it, it is only a slight tinge, but i can notice it and it gradually changes over a few seconds, and then gradually reverses when i plug the charger back in.

I went through intel settings and GPU settings but there wasn't anything that was different between the settings that should affect hue.

Could it be the integrated GPU switching with the dedicated?

I actually tried this once with Alcohol 120%. It can/could create I think 30+ virtual drives. As Gareth said, A and B are part of the OS that sees those as floppy drives and the last letter you'd see is Z and nothing after that. No way to access whatever is on those other drive letters. A120 can list it as being a drive you can mount to but the Windows doesn't see it at all.

@finn4life

That is an odd one. Could be something wrong with the integrated card or it's drivers?

Research the laptop model, maybe someone else with that model or model line, or even the brand, has had the same issue.

Yeah it is weird, tried some searches but found nothing.

Eh well, not big deal anyway.

Hey guys, should I pick NOW the MSI R7770 Power Edition Triple Overvoltage 1GD5 OC or wait to October and buy the SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz Edition OC

The MSI has 1100MHz clock and 4500MHz effective memory and the SAPPHIRE has 1150MHz clock and 5000MHz effective memory.

The MSI seems to be overclock friendly, I mean, to put it in pair of the SAPPHIRE. Is it easy to overclock it with MSI Afterburner?

What should I do? Also, there is a chance that the shop here doesn't have stock in October of the SAPPHIRE..

I'd pick the one that is cheaper, overclocking isn't hard.

Should there be any problems running Sapphire Radeon HD7770 on this motherboard?

I'm back again asking a question about my processor. I have the specs for my computer here with all the parts it came with, but I can't find the motherboard in said list. If the motherboard model can be found, would it be compatible with a more powerful AMD processor?

So I want to put a video of my countries national sport onto a USB flashdrive and send it to a friend in the US so he can watch it through his PS3. My question is will I have issues shipping it to him, I mean will xray machines etc corrupt any data on the drive if its a cheap brand. I figure downloading the matches off the web will mean the video format will work on his US PS3? any reply appreciated. I posted this in the ps3 section ages ago but no replies. Cheers

oh and I know to make a PS3 file and a VIDEO file

Nope not an issue at all.

Just make sure to use some bubblewrap in the package. Don't want a crushed USB.

Um, so a bit of a nooby question, but

How do i upgrade my direct x from 9.0c to 10 or even higher(i can see that Vista supports 11.0 too, however my video cars says it's supports only 10 here http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/132 )

Nevermind, i do have DX10 on my comp, but when i want to launch a game, it says is requires Dx10 or 11 support. confused.gif

You can use CPU-Z to determine what motherboard you have.

Got a quick question, I've got a rather noisy PC and have tracked the source of this noise to be the graphics card. I'd like to replace the cooler on the card with a more quieter one, maybe even a passive one. The graphics card is an XFX Radeon 6870, does anyone know of any coolers that could do the job?

Maybe Arctic Twin Turbo Pro?

For a passive cooler you'd have to have a very well ventillated computer case, and even then temperatures might be a bit on the high side.

The case is the Cooler Master Cosmos S. I'd just like it to be a quieter than what it currently is.

Have you tried configuring a custom fan profile using MSI Afterburner? By doing this, you could set it to whatever fan speed is quiet enough for you at idle in return for higher temperatures while at the same time have the card kick up the fan speed when gaming.

Ok, I'm trying to replace my motherboard due to the fact that it won't work with my GTX 560 TI. I don't really want to replace the CPU at this time, since its a i7 920, or anything else really. I friend of my recommended this one. Would this be a good replacement?

Why won't that motherboard work with your GTX 560 TI? There's no reason it shouldn't.

And that motherboard isn't a bad choice from what is left out there for LGA 1366 boards. I've got the Asus P6X58D-E which is pretty much the same board only not in the workstation form. Works great!

XFX has stop support for their motherboards, so they won't work with the GTX 400s and up.

No, you got that completely wrong. XFX stopped selling nVidia cards and that's all. It doesn't have anything to do with mobo's compatibility with newer GeForce series cards. Ergo: Any new GeForce will work on your current motherboard.

Nope, I looked into it, seems a lot of people have that problem. Hell the XFX website doesn't even have motherboards on their website anymore.

Damn if that's true nVidia are really getting f*cked up the ass by XFX. I bet the dudes at nVidia and banging their heads on their desks for f*cking up this bad.

Doesn't sound right at all, that makes absolutely no sense i know Nvidia and XFX have had some issues, but dropping support is just silly, they would just lose out.

http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/item/2045...ps-doing-nvidia

Many people are not aware of the fact that until last Friday, XFX was actually selling and supporting Nvidia cards, just not Fermi based ones. The story is rather simple. Last year, XFX started selling ATI, Nvidia got mad and told them that they won’t get Fermi based cards. XFX wanted to offer AMD boards and many gamers actually saw this as a great move and because it could make some nice money and market share of course.

Nvidia didn’t cut XFX completely off as the company continued to sell anything from Nvidia but Fermi. Over the summer Nvidia launched the rest of Geforce GTX 400 family, but they didn’t give any to XFX.

XFX told us earlier that as of this day, they officially stop selling any Nvidia cards. This is a direct action after Nvidia’s decision to de-authorise XFX from approved partner list. The decision to stop working with Nvidia doesn’t surprise us as Nvidia simply didn’t send any Fermi chips to XFX and they were encouraging channel partners not to work with XFX, and therefore XFX simply could not sell enough Nvidia cards.

So the partnership is over from both sides and end users can simply stop hoping to see any Nvidia based XFX cards in any near future. Of course end users will suffer and they will simple have to go in some other Nvidia partner's direction.

Im having trouble with one of the videos I put on the usb drive. Seems to be running a little faster than normal and having audio issues(no sound) when played through my ps3. Do I need to convert it. I have 2 videos and both are mp4 but only one works correctly. cheers

Back when I had Windows XP, my computer remembered where I had specific windows opened at. (This is kind of a complicated thing to explain, as I don't really know what I'm talking about.)

Let's say, I opened 'My Music' it would always open in a window that filled half of the screen

user posted image

And then I could insert a USB drive and it would Open in the other half of the screen.

user posted image

But now, in Windows 7, it just loads the window wherever the previous window was closed out at. What I'm trying to ask is, Is there any way to make Windows 7 do what I want it to do?

(I'm really sorry, but I just can't seem to find the words to explain this right now.)
