Why is PC better than Mac or vice versa?

It's an opinionated subject. Both have their pros and cons. If you want a Mac, get a Mac. They are about twice the price of a standard Windows PC of same spec, but always offer a very high build quality (unlike some Windows laptops, since they are designed independently). However, OSX isn't really the best operating system if you plan on gaming.

I know a guy who bought his Mac laptop for about £1400, but shockingly the laptop is of slightly worse spec than my £600 laptop. When he discovered that he was pretty embarrassed. However, admittedly when it comes to build quality there is no competition. tounge.gif

One of my mates owns a macbook pro, the battery life is like 10 or 11 hours, and it is like 8-9months old, now that is just fantastic.

Like over the below said, they are ridiculously expensive, but they have great battery, great build and the OS is quite safe in terms of viruses.

Unfortunately there is barely any decent games available for the mac, and there are many handy programs that are not available for mac.

But that does go the other way, mac has many good programs that are exclusive to mac as well.

Its down to which operating system you prefer, and if you think it is worth the extra battery life, and longevity for pc, i would never buy a mac, you could build the PC and buy the OS separate.

Algonquin Bridge

Is it likely/common for a cheap PSU to be causing constant Blue screen errors?

(I'm talking cheap as in "Came with the £18 computer case" cheap.)

More than likely if you have upgraded your system or its just old.

Also, finn4life, I find it extremely hard to believe he would get 11 hours out of his Macbook, unless his components are extremely low clocked and on the lowest brightness settings or something. There is only so much battery life you can get without going into the single digit watt usage, regardless of your OS.

Simple answer to cheap, budget PSUs is NO, absolutely not...based on my experience with only affordable PSU, I've never gotten a BSoD based on the PSU edition, most have come back to life via circuit protection if the start up fails and you find the fuse is still good. Most have soldered fuses, but you could still replace the fuse if you're super handy!

As for my question, it's regarding FINDING specific Driver tools, FREE DRIVERS, outside of DriverGuide or HP and Dell's website, and a few others like Acer and Toshiba who keep their machine drivers available...add to that IBM, but just a generalized generic tool that you can remove even if it might have some adware that's harmless but annoying.

I am just trying this site, which prompts me to ask, since they all seem alike at times

whatever you said

Yeah lol i was a bit hesitant writing that, he tells me that he gets that long out of it, and i looked on his pc once and the battery meter showed that long (but they never show good estimates).

A website is not loading for me, i cleared cookies, ran virus scans (Norton) re-booted, reset the modem, tried 3 different browsers (IE Firefox and chrome) but nothing worked to solve the problem,, i can still not access the site, even though i could yesterday.

I think it as ip problem, since i can access the site via proxy, but i need to enter cc info, and the proxies do not upload the page correctly.

EDIT: Going to sleep so i will turn the router off and turn it back on in the morning.

I found a Windows 7 box, could I use it or it's no use anymore?

If the key on the box isn't currently in use on one of your machines, then yeah.

I finally got the website to work, my new clothes oughta be here in a few days.

I went through my history and accessed it through there.

Any idea why it worked through my history?

So even if the previous owner used it, it will work? I would save some 90 bucks if that's the case.

No if it has been used it will not work, the key to make the product work is only useable once. this is Microsofts words.

computer.  For each additional installation, you'll need to purchase an additional Windows 7 license.

Basically the Key is the license.

There are ways of getting a key, but that is not to be spoken of here.

Anyone know of a free font creation program, I know there are some that accept high res bmp's and convert to vectorised fonts, so there must be a free one floating about somewhere!

Not quite, the first one is an online thingy so no bmp importing, and the second requires a unix emulator or something, I was hoping for something a little less pain in the assey.

Could someone recommend me a cheap gaming mouse (in £) please? I was thinking this, but if anybody has any better suggestions, please let me know.

Ok, I always assumed if you ask something, rather then try and answer, no one will get on your case here at GTAF, well, they might just ignore the fact you asked a question, so, here's something simple, I have a Netbook style laptop, added a Wifi card but never made sure it was driver equipped. I am without PCCard mem reader, and the two laptops I'm using actually don't match, since one is PCI express or PC Express card based, the other PCMCIA, older variety, There is the option of Parallel cable and Bi-Directional data connection, had I an old printer cable, or USB stick, basically I don't in this case.

I should be able to connect with Ethernet, but then how do I access through the localized machines? This is something that's done on the WWW via browser without any technical know how, but somehow, doing it on physical computers presents a challenge.

Just like nVidia, AMD made optimized drivers for Battlefield 3.

Downloading them now, does anyone notice any difference? smile.gif

So you expect us to go to the time and effort of finding these drivers without a link when you are too lazy to do it yourself?? Nigga Please!

I gues it's just me but, huh?

I don't understand, can't you just download them through the AMD site or Steam or do I have to put a link here or what?

Gues it's just because I'm Dutch, but I don't understand you. mercie_blink.gif

WHy is it that websites always see my I.P as from the USA? Because i am in Australia, yet so many sites say "your I.P shows USA" can i change that? If it makes a difference i have been using 3G internet when this has occurred.

Asked before but never received anything besides questions of my intent, so I'm going to go ahead and ask again: does anyone have a guide to transfer everything (I mean, everything; files, OS, every-f*cking-thing) from one HDD to another? I've got a 1TB HDD that's just collecting dust right now, and my 500GB is 10GB away from being full.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lately, when I go on GTAF and I hit the back button my page kind of stops. It doesn't freeze per say, but the previous page never loads. I end up having to just click the "GTAForums" link at the top of the page to go around in a circle back to where I was. I'm experiencing this on both IE and Chrome, on two different computers no less. Usually the bottom of the page says it is loading the google ads, even though I have Adblock on Chrome. This usually happens for about the first 5 minutes on here, after which it's fine except for the occasional page on which it does it again.

Is this a common problem, or is it just a normal thing, or what?

Here's my Speedtest on my Desktop. The laptop (with Chrome) usually gets a bit better performance, but not by much.
