Best way to help a new & starting Posse member?

Recommended Posts

My wife finally took the plunge after months of being "on the fence" about getting RDR2, & joining me online. She's played GTA 4 & 5 but not online. That being said, what's the best way for me to help her get started, get as much money & gold as possible & be a good hubby & posse leader? So far, I've been helping her with hunting, her story missions, & taking her on a couple of my local deliveries, but is there more I can do?

I'd say help her make enough gold (and money) so she can buy the Collector's Bag and the shovel and metal detector when unlocked.

Unless the next update changes this, this is by far the best way to make money and rank up.

That ofcourse is assuming your wife is willing to use the map to help her collect collections quickly.

If she's unable to play for whatever reason temporarily retire your character and play as her. You know the ropes and can probably accumulate cash quicker than she could.

But after all this is your wife and even if you're dead set against micros, make an exception and surprise her with some gold. Then she can hit the ground running.

Collecting is by far the easiest way to make money and xp. If you spend a whole day collecting (and I mean about 12 hours) you could make enough xp to go up about 40 ranks and make about $7000 at the same time. For gold do all the dailies. If you get a full streak then you start making 5 gold a day from the standard dailies plus 0.5 for any of the role dailies you get done. Doing the story missions is also good in the beginning because you get the first playthrough bonus. I think it was around $80 for each one.

You know the game as well as anyone on here. What can be said that you already don't know? Personally, I'd bite the bullet and buy the one time offer of 25 Gold for $5, and jump right in to collecting. You'd only have earn 5 more Gold to start trading. Even though it's a sht role IMO, sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime to get the bounty hunter license.

Where do you get that figure from? Even if you sold all 14 sets in a day (which you can't do when you're first starting out), that's only $4,022.

Probably plenty. I've been solo my whole RDO career. Never had anyone else in my posse for me to help or be responsible for. I was here since beta, but I had to do it all alone. I have NO clue what benefits posse members get, what activities are the most profitable for posse members, I'm not worried about myself, but helping ensure she has a better starting go of this game than I feel we console players did for the last year.

Well you're on the right track with her helping with trading, half the money and free XP for sales and supply runs.

You can collect more than one of each set in a day. Just by collecting the specific items marked on the map you can sell 3 flower sets so that takes you up to 16. Then there are the 200 random spawn sites each 24 hours. That will give you doubles sets. At the weekend after one day of collecting I had 27 sets.

If you can keep your camp set up selling trader goods is the easiest way to make her some money, I don't know how much XP posse members make, though.

Collecting makes the most XP and very good money, but the shovel and metal detector are rank locked so it's slow at first.

Doing both while hunting and doing supply missions should get her ranked up pretty quick.

My character's level 72 after less than 4 weeks playing solo, so it shouldn't take too long if you both have the time.

If you have lots of money etc, you could just 'accidentally' disconnect as the trader sell mission ends.

If she's near or in the yellow area at the end when you disconnect, she'll get the full $500 & XP for a short sale instead of half that.

You of course get nothing and lose your goods.

If you're sure about this I don't mind doing it at all. My character has everything he needs & then some. I'd happily drop some goods to help boost her faster. As she just started this weekend, she hasn't even started buying weapons yet. Gonna have her get both the varmit & bolt action today if that works.

Similar to GTA's heist finale exploits.

Just as the wagon enters the yellow area, the screen starts to narrow, close the app (fully).

On her screen, she gets mission passed and payouts.

Be warned it can occasionally fail, but 9/10 times it works.

It's posted on tha7 o7her site we're not allowed to link here (it's a sin).

[Edit] My above post clearly states that you get nothing doing this - For the benefit of those that didn't read it.

Also when building goods, don't purchase supplies as I've been doing. Do the supply runs. It's good XP and also gives some materials.

As others have said - Daily Objectives are a real good source of gold. If one of you can get on her profile for even 5 minutes every single day, you'll soon get a streak going.

I keep mine at 0.5 gold per challenge - but you can't take a day off.

The last week and a half I've been mainly just concentrating on doing as many dailies as possible and collecting on the way and I have 3 full collections, most of te rest need 1 or 2 items and a couple need 3-4.

I think I'll wait and see when another bonus collector week.

Also I do the weekly collection, but that only paid $85, so I do it more for the XP.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about collecting every flower or randoms. That's real hard core lol,

Yeah and it took 15 hours (with a bit of fighting in between) and I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

My tip is to just get on and have fun together, do whatever seems like a good time. The online economy is perhaps the most boring aspect of the game, so don't push her into all that.

The problem is you need money and ranks to unlock decent clothing items.

I enjoy the game anyway, so it doesn't feel like a grind. Not like doing crate runs in GTA, anyway!

Don't get me or her wrong,  :)  she's not a new gamer, our gaming time together goes all the way back to Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction, through Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast & 3, Jedi Academy, then to Counter Strike Source (with a cyber athletes team for three years), Guild Wars, Destiny, DC Universe Online, Guild Wars 2, & then most recently Diablo 3 & State of Decay 2. This is a joy to have her join me (after a hard year in RDO alone) & I just wanna get her "up to speed" as she's always been the most reliable gaming partner I've had, and is an amazing mom to our three troublemak wonderful children.  ;)

Lil tip I just thought of: if you turn in any perfect carcasses she bags, it'll apply your Efficiency bonus to her materials.
