Some Proof That Niko Is Still Alive And Chances Of Him Appearing in GTA VI

Recommended Posts

NewGuybj

So, some people think ( thanks to noughpointfourlive) that Niko is dead. I'm here to disproof it. Help me on the way as well.

Here's some proof, that he's still alive.

Mainly, Niko's lifeinvader page in  GTA V. We can see his profile there. Mayba simple easter egg, maybe more.

Although Lester mentions Niko, it saids "he went quiet". It can mean a lot of things. Maybe he's laying low, quit criminal life and whatever. And now living in peace.

Also Packie mentions Niko, as suggest he's maybe dead. It saids nothing. They haven't seen each other for some time, not keeping contact. This proofs nothing.

Actually lifeinvader page is only clue that he's alive. But as a fan. I believe, he is.

Also, can we see Niko return in GTA VI? Yes and no. I would be if he did return. But it's unlikely. Because Niko's voice actor: Michael Hollick in on bad terms with Rockstar games. Maybe his relationship with  has improved. Not sure.

If not, I don't think he would return, unless Rockstar pay him enough money. Or they recast him.

Anyway, maybe you have other proof that he's alive. Also, do you think, that he can return in GTA VI? Wanna read your thoughs.

I thought everything you wrote was pretty widely accepted, can't see anything to argue against. I'd be more interested to know what the argument for Niko being dead is, what's it based on? Like, he technically could be dead or alive because there's nothing that 100% confirms he's alive. But while there's several hints that he's alive there's no hints that he's dead that I'm aware of. As you say Packie's comment tells us nothing as it's just based on losing touch with him and knowing that a guy living that criminal lifestyle (which, unknown to Packie, it's strongly suggested he's given up or at least eased up on anyway) has a high chance of being killed, it isn't based on any actual knowledge of what's happened to him.

I guess more "proof" would be that a wanted poster of Niko can be found on the front porch of a house out in the desert. Not really proof of anything as it's just an easter egg but it's another suggestion of his presence.

Interesting thoughts. For me, Niko is one of the most memorable GTA characters because he was one of the most believeable; I am not a criminal or soldier myself but find that I can identify with his character more than any other GTA protagonist.

I therefore like to think of Niko as alive, if not particularly active any more. Storyline aside, if Niko's character were to be brought back, I would want it to to be done properly - true to his original character, authentically, so that his character flows naturally from what happened in Liberty City and events before then. In other words, I would prefer a believeable and well-crafted character like Niko not to return in any capacity, rather than return in some capacity but in a way that undermines and makes less believable what came before.

Anyway, last I heard Niko was laying low in Liberty City; he made a lot of enemies there, so this probably makes sense.

In fact, some say that he even keeps a blog with retrospect, haha!

yeah, would be awesome if Niko shows up in GTA VI or whatever is it called. Maybe still living in Liberty City or even Vice City. Because Roman spoke with Niko with them possibly opening a Restaurant, I think in Vice City. Would be cool. Anyway. We'll see.

i wouldn’t like seeing him out of liberty city tbh, if he’ll be the protagonist of another game, i want that gray filter again or something that will give me the niko in 2008 feeling.

I always figured he retired from crime and went quiet as Lester said in V. I don't believe he's dead tbh. I'd be concerned if he ever returned as a character because of the drama between his voice actor and R*, they'd probably kill him off like they did Avery Carrington in LCS.

I think if they decide to include a choice of two different endings both of them have to be canon, defeats the purpose if only one of them counts.

There is evidence that Roman is more likely to be alive than not, which is that in GTA V when Jimmy sits at the table with a laptop he's looking at Niko's LifeInvader (ie Facebook) page, and when zoomed in you can see he still lives in Liberty City, works for "Bellic Enterprises" as a cab driver, and there's a post where he wishes Roman a happy birthday.

But while this is a cool little easter egg and it's nice that they went with a version of events where they appear to be living a happy quiet life, I don't accept that only one ending is canon. I think it's still technically possible that Roman is dead, as the cab company could be run by someone else just keeping the name in his honour, and sometimes people continue to wish loved ones a happy birthday on Facebook after they die as a tribute. And for that matter I don't think it proves Niko has totally got out of crime either, just because he doesn't post about it on social media it doesn't mean he couldn't still be getting up to stuff on the side. So I say both endings are still canon. If anything is not going to be canon it should be the easter egg, not events that already canonically happened.

kate is useless. roman is family and is always there for you. not to mention free cabs and.... bowling!!!

but what really got me annoyed, was the fact that kate wore the exact same ugly outfit as she always did... to a wedding.

If Niko picks her up for the wedding not wearing smart enough clothes she comments on it too, the nerve!

I'd rather have Roman alive than Kate too (particularly as even if she lives she dumps you lol). It's still very sad for Niko when she dies though because he really likes her and relates to her better than anyone he's met in the city and has a real chance of settling down with her, and now that chance of a happy life is ripped away. Of course it's great that he has his cousin and friends but they all have their own lives, at the end of the day he's alone. Roman dying is the sadder of the two endings but both are miserable.

I don't want to see Niko again. I didn't like how most of the GTA IV/EFLC cameos were treated in GTA V as it felt silly how they ended up in the same place and it felt like they were killed off for the sake of it. If GTA VI is Vice City and it's another modern game I can't think of a possible reason why Niko would even been there seeing as he wanted to put his criminal life behind him and he'd be in his mid 40s.

Niko's a beloved character so R* would be foolish to bring him back and risk alienating the fanbase. Just let the guy rest IMO. I like to remember Niko for his appearances in GTA IV/EFLC.

Agreed. Considering the way they went with the easter eggs/hints about him in V (the LifeInvader page and Lester's mention of an Eastern European who was making moves in Liberty City but went quiet) implying that he's most likely left the life of crime or at least is doing much more small time stuff now I'm not sure how they'd fit him in anyway. With Johnny it made sense that he could've got back with Ashley and become a mess after the end of TLAD so there was a plausible reason for him to make an appearance, and Luis could easily still be making moves after the end of TBOGT so seeing him again would also be plausible. But with Niko it really seemed like his story was done.

Niko is not going to reappear. At the end of GTA IV, he makes it exceptionally clear that he's planning to leave the world of crime. If he appeared in another GTA game, that would break his continuity. I don't know why so many people ignore this.

I'm sure his mother got sick, so he came back to Europe to take care of her. She could have died in... let's say, 2013, but I guess he stayed there.

Niko would only be 41 now so his mother could easily still be alive and not even very old. He said a few times in the game (including in email exchanges with his mother) that he doesn't think it'll ever be safe for him to go back. I guess with Bulgarin gone maybe it wouldn't be as dangerous, but it's implied he's not the only enemy he made back home. I think there also wasn't much opportunity for him there and there still wouldn't be so he wouldn't go back. If he and Roman have a successful cab business in Algonquin and he's got out of the life of crime I'd guess it would be more likely he'd pay for her to come and live in the US, or if not just send money to help her out and stay in touch in all the ways we can now with modern technology.

Sorry for breaking your ball but there are no chances for Niko to return in any further GTA game since the voice actor doesn't want to have any relation with Rockstar .

It's probably the other way round tbh. I'm sure if he was offered enough money he'd jump at the chance at this point. But he wouldn't get an offer because Rockstar doesn't want someone who's difficult or who has brought bad publicity to the company (even though he didn't actually badmouth Rockstar). If they hired him again the whole thing about how much voice actors are paid would come up again, there's no way they'd invite that on themselves imo. I also think they just don't like too much attention to be on the voice actors (just seems that way), and with him there would be.

He's never really stated directly that he would never work for them again, just that he expected more money from a game that was as big as it was. I'm sure if Rockstar really offered him a decent sum of money (but let's face it, we're talking 2019 Rockstar here) he'd happily return to the role of Niko Bellic.

But then again I don't think I'd want him back in any way, shape or form. His fate is one best left ambiguous

True but I don't think they could get away with doing that in the case of Niko. Even though Michael Hollick's Serbian accent isn't that accurate the voice he did is extremely distinctive and a very important part of the character, it wouldn't be possible to recreate it to sound authentic and having some knock off version of such a well loved character in the game would be horrendous. When it was previously a supporting character who's original voice no one particularly cared about or remembered they could do it but I don't think it would work with a previous protagonist, especially not Niko.
