You absolutely didn't delete that file because otherwise the game would not run. More likely the launcher just re-downloaded it for you.

This is exactly what happened, launcher re-downloaded it but it worked for me.

Weird. Did you try to delete the files in Documents/Rockstar/RDR2/Settings before that too? Seems like the issue would be there instead. :p The launcher is paranoid with corrupt files which is why I ask, but it's definitely possible in your case I guess!

It is indeed weird 😁. I didn't delete the files.

Do you have a Realtek device by any chance? I've been talking with some people that could solve a lot of issues after either:

1. Disabling their Realtek device through Device Manager (in case you don't use it - i.e. I only use a USB headset although motherboard has a Realtek onboard sound controller)
OR
2. Completely uninstalling and cleaning Realtek drivers (using latest DDU - Display Driver Uninstaller) that Windows thiink it's better for you and installing original drivers (usually from you motherboard website or Realtek itself if standalone)

It was actually impressive how many people solved their weird performance issues - being those freezes, stutters - mainly after last patch (before this one). I actually only "found out" that when I was already testing every single thing, and some reddit posts here and there mentioned Realtek issues. Anyways, I hope you find your fix, and if you try this Realtek one let me know if it worked for you (also feel free to ask anything about it).

You have scale resolution? Because sound glitchs appeared to me when I activated.

This is awful, GTA V had no such problems, I still menage settings I want in 1440p but only in DX12, Vulkan shows me 2.8 GB and DX12 3.4 GB.

Rip people with GTX 1060 3 GB though, no ultra textures for them.

as if they would be able to run ultra textures. 1060 3gb is a scam and im so happy i avoided it for the 6gb version

Again, I'm running ultra textures on this card just fine...

Thanks man, I’ll try this today and yes I have Realtek, but I’m using a 7.1 usb headset (Logitech g430)

Will keep you posted if it works for me, thanks again

Come on guys no news about the new moonshiner role coming in the next patch december 13?

It's all over the Red Dead Online forum, no reason you'd find anything specifically here in the PC section. :p

I have a 970 GTX and that doesnt works. Still have 2600 MB to use for my card, not more.

Deleted all files in settings folder, except "system.xml", and deleted "shaders_x64.rpf" in my Game installation folder. Even both together.

Didnt worked!!!!  Still my old 2600 MB from my 3500+500 MB Nvidia GTX 970.

Installed the newest drivers 441.41, but still the same.

Sure you looked at the Vulkan settings? Because i got from the launch much higher Ram (3600 MB) in DX 12, but never more then 2600 MB in Vulkan.

What exactly did you do to delete the cached shaders? This hasn't worked for me so far.

Hmm I did the same on Windows 8.1 but it’s still says only 2.6GB. I assume you mean the RDR2 folder in documents where the graphics settings are stored?

C:\Users\User\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings

Yes there i also deleted all files except "system.xml". Did nothing on my Win7 64 bit System, still 2600 MB under Vulcan. I could use more then 3600 MB under DX12, but that runs as a emulation much slower as Vulcan, because Win7 uses DX11. DX12 is Win10 exclusive.

Maybe should start to use Win10, as the service around Win7 runs out anyway the first weeks in January 2020.
